1. I used to have one of these; top build quality, extremely versatile and quality transparent tone. Good luck
2.
Surely only the permanent members are concerned, not the ones that turn up just once..? How about guests..? Spouses..? Parents that drop in to hear how it's going..? Everyone that walks in has to be covered..? Seems a bit extreme to me. The 'official' band members I could understand, but not each and every attendee, I'd have thought.
It's just what I read from the OP, that there are no permenant band members yet, so the insurance needs to cover whoever is playing at that time
3.
... and would that be a deal breaker..?
I read from the OP that it will be difficult to name everyone who comes to play, eg auditionees, so individually adding them to a policy would be a PITA. Getting them all to join the MU would be unworkable
4.
IIRC the MU liability cover requires all the band to be MU members.
Slight hint of panic there - you mean if the entire band is to be covered, yes? An individual member has their own stuff/liability covered. I hope!
5.
No, I didn't try looking at the back of the photo to see where the wire goes. I'm daft, but not that daft..!
I turned my iPad round but it just kind of vanishes
6. I can imagine a 'first to pay' system resulting in getting several payments into your account, and then you've got to go through the hassle of returning money :-(
7. If you check my feedback the first item is by a chap who bought my big box micro synth. If you get desperate you could contact him and ask
8. I seem to be the only one on Basschat who practices unplugged :-(
9. Fair enough, IMO it's pretty harsh and nasal, and I prefer the tone before and after that solo. Great song though, I've not heard it before. I'm getting flavours of Talking Heads and can imagine that Happy Mondays have spun this a few times
10. Very nice indeed. It's unusual to see these without the gold hardware, and all the better for it IMO. Good luck with the sale :-)
11. Great stuff, pretty damned funky. I love the way the guitar brings in the changes. Personally, I'd love to hear the bassline be a bit more syncopated, to play around with the beat a bit more, but even so, it's a good strong funk track. I'd go and see you :-)
12. I could tolerate that headstock more easily than I could an oval bridge. Lovely bass :-)
13. I'm very into the 'retro-futuristic' look:
14. John definitely knows his stuff. As far as I know he has scaled back his work a fair bit and you'll notice his contact details have been taken down 😞
15. That's a glamtastic, retrofuturistic chunk of pure style right there. Love it!
16. Mine don't have a measurement, but they are a bit bendy. 3mm KB? I'm picturing those dice you get in Christmas crackers
17. I wouldn't pay £2500 for that even if Noël Gallagher came with it
18.
You spelled it wrong. It's 'Toni'.
Haha, oops! Hope I didn't offend her.
19. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=171691555846 A Music Mann made OLP signed by Tony Levi
20.
The RMI Basswitch IQ/DI is your best bet for preamp!
Thanks for the recommendation. I'm pretty in love with the Avalon U5 at the moment, but maybe that's something to try in the future. Smaller than the Avalon too
21. Judging by the 'incoming Barefaced Two Ten' in their sig, I thing you may be right!
22.
Will you be sporting that funky hat this time?
Are you talking to me? The one in my avatar? You taking the piss? Wanna step outside ;-)
23.
I was the one who could be bothered to claim from the PRS, as it was only £24 I kept it to help with postage etc, wasn't worth splitting it TBH. So, if the guitarist wants his royalties he has to get them from the PRS and not us is that right?
You are the only one registered with PRS, so you have no legal obligation to share. The money went on band expenses, so you have no moral obligation to share it. Yes, he will need to register with PRS and someone needs to fill in the forms if he wants any money. However, as far as PRS are concerned, you are the sole rights holder at the moment, and he can't just register and say he wants a cut - If that were the case, I could just write to them and say I'd like 50% of the Rolling Stones' rights please :-D This is why an agreed band split is vital. Everyone who gets a split needs to register individually and the PRS need to know the percentage split for each song.
24. That's a shame Bottle - have a fun family do!
25.
Got a call last night at 8:20 from band leader that apparently we had a gig! Perhaps if he'd actually updated the band's google diary more recently than last November or maybe just told me, as he had evidently done to other band members. First night using a dep guitarist that the outgoing (paternity leave) gtr player found and said he 'thought would be OK' after they had met a couple of times for a short jam. I was amazed that a formal rehearsal hadn't been booked to make sure he would be OK in full band context as he'll be standing in for a couple of months. Sure enough he was woefully unprepared despite having had 2 months to learn the set. One rehearsal during that time would have made this abundantly clear but hey what do I know? So after band leader made some smart arse comment about my bass tone during the first set I duly handed in my resignation at the half time interval. I was planning to do it at tonight's gig anyway so just brought it a day forward, 2 years was always going to be about my limit with this one. Big sigh of relief. On to the next project!
Wow Kev, I missed this. Disappointing to leave on a low note, but as Ray says, onwards and upwards. I'm glad I caught you in the old band, and look forward to seeing you in your next one :-)
