1.
It was an admittedly poor attempt at humour
Hah, sorry, I'm a bit slow tonight
2.
Back on topic. Why would anyone want to listen to music they don't like? Can't understand it. Even if you like what the bassist is doing, if the context is not enjoyable then what's the point?
You have to listen to them first before you decide that you don't like them. Maybe their songs pop up on the radio. I had to tolerate half an hour of Roxette at work yesterday (we take it in turns to choose the music(
3.
you have already answered your own question...Ibanez SR meets your criteria perfectly. great basses.
...other than the fact that he didn't like the playability or the tone :-D
4. I have no idea what package management is. Is it something I need to know?
5.
Big and strong
Thanks! I'm hench and I don't even know it ;-)
6. The gorgeous Goapele. I've played this one live with a great singer, and the groove is so badass. *Warning* contains swearing :-0 http://youtu.be/dC6xZ6LuycY
7. Nice one 72Deluxe - planning to bring your Warwick Star by any chance?
8.
Sorry I don't get all this crap about valve heads overhanging the sides of cabs. The solution's quite obvious as I see it....
Think of your poor confused electrons!
9.
Quite. He should have posted the question on Mumsnet instead.
They would persuade him to spend his money on Dinosaur Romance Novels
10. Who on this forum would vote no?? You know that of course Marvin. You seek validation to assuage your guilt. Without a file containing the necessary information (list of your current gear, graphs to show how well that gear currently satisfies your musical needs, bank statements, debts, earnings etc.) I'm just gonna say DO IT
11. "Minor cosmetic scratches on the back" - it looks like it has been mauled by a bear
12.
I'm looking forward to trying out this amp too. I like the idea of fine tuning amp and cabinet combinations with a tweakable EQ and filters. It makes lots of sense to me.
My Crown power amp allows you to customise filters/EQ on the computer software and then save onto the amp as presets. I haven't taken full advantage of it yet as I like it flat, but have had a play and created some notch/boom busting EQ presets. Petty cool having it in a compact integrated head though.
13. I've had several lightweight heads, but have come to the conclusion that they are not for me. I think I'd only get one again if I had to carry my gear any distance, but from car to stage and back is easy enough with a heavy head (maybe not 200w+ valve heavy) I am very appreciative of my lightweight cab, however. There are three flights of stairs to our practice room, and I'd hate to have to carry a heavy cab up and down there each week.
14. Searching for the Sugar Man is one of the best music docs I've seen for years. I'm a fan of Rodreguez anyway, but even if you're not, it's an amazing story
15. My Red Iron 100w amp sits nicely on top of my Super Twin cab with room to spare on each side. It has a manageable weight. No way are those transformers or KT88s are going to fit in a 2U rack though
16. A Southern Harmony and Musical Companion by The Black Crowes. Gorgeous soulful/gospel-fuelled stones-esque rock. Love it
17. I love the sound of a sealed cab with a valve amp. Barefaced '69er if you can find one, or Berg NV range. Yum yum
18. Lots here I've not heard before. I feel a 'BC Classics' Spotify playlist coming on.
19. I used to have one of these when in a funk band - really great sounding pedal.
20. TBH I kind of respect someone who is willing to speak out rather than grumble in private - makes showbiz a bit more interesting anyway :-D He obviously feels passionately about it, but I disagree hugely. I see Beck as a visionary, an artist with enourmous creativity. Yes Beyoncé is talented, but I don't see a smidgen of Beck's originality in her.
21. I've bought from Javier before and it all went perfectly. Good luck with the sale - great looking bass :-)
22. Looks fantastic, and I'll bet it sounds it too
23.
WTF is toppy.?
His top is unbuttoned :-D Lots of top end zing The way he unbuttons the shirt on camera suggested to me that it was very tongue in cheek, a homage to the Kool and the Gang/Ladies' Night style funk that the song so heavily borrows from.
24. About a year ago, I went through an amp-buying phase, and at one time had five heads to compare! The HD350 and the Shuttle 9.2 were very similar to each other in that they are both very clean, flexible and high quality. Personally, I found the Shuttle to be a bit more intuitive in that you could predict what each turn of the knob will do, so it's easy to quickly dial In a tone. The HD350 took a bit more fiddling to get where I wanted, but I suppose it wouldn't take long to get familiar with its workings with some effort. In terms of tone, like I said, very similar. With either amp you can get virtually any clean tone you'll ever need. If I had to choose, I'd probably go for the HD350 for that extra solidity in the low end. Volume? I found the 9.2 to be louder than I'd ever need. and the HD350 to be just loud enough. Another handy bonus for the HD350 is the Notch control, good for eliminating boom in a room if that's ever an issue. If I had to choose, is go for the HD350 again, but there's not much in it
