1. To me, the Meters are the ultimate funk band - just sublime. The album that that track opens, Rejeuvination, is excellent. Here's one from the following album, Fire on the Bayou - brilliant laid back funk, and introducing a bit of synth: http://youtu.be/A8R1Wyow15w
2.
Quite right too
Fair enough. I'd be embarrassed to be seen with a Corvette in public too ;-)
3. Haha, the bass player looks quite embarrassed
4.
A great hotel if you want to treat yourselves whilst in Brighton: http://www.hotelpelirocco.co.uk
I've stayed there - brilliant!
5.
BUT it got through to me how much of the vibration travels UP the neck and how much the headstock vibrates.
Yup, I used to practice by touching the headstock (or body) on a chest of drawers, and the vibrations were enough to amplify to audible practice level. Vibrations aplenty.
6.
<3
Is that a fart?
7. It is a bit toppy, but that works well when paired with that sampled/vocal bassline. Great player, and looks cool doing it. He gets the official RR thumbs up
8.
Markbass Compressore You want levelling rather than pumping, it should be possible to achieve that with the MB no problem Remember slow the release more than normal, lowish ratio, attack around 30ms, threshold to suit <Note to self, stay the f*** out of compressor threads!>
Nonsense. The Compressore doesn't do any of those things. Don't you know who I am ;-)
9. I've seen items given a mirror finish by being painted with reflective palladium, maybe that's it.
10.
yes me too, didnt know about the bass bash, although I've been to some past ones. Any idea when or where?
Here you go http://basschat.co.uk/topic/253823-midlands-bass-bash-2/
11. A pro would tell you that there is a big difference between piles and bumcrumbs
12. Thanks folks. He has just called me in a happier mood - he decided to try a fix from a link that I sent him, and it seems to have alleviated the problem a lot. He simply loosened then retightened the neck bolts (shouldn't they be called neck screws??) and a lot of sustain has come back to that area, to the extent that he's happy enough to not buy a Fatfinger or change the strings.
13. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/254295-bit-of-advice-with-a-missing-courier-package-please/page__pid__2675048#entry2675048 Wasn't this one, was it? Only a few days ago
14. I'm really disappointed to see this happen Sean, not only because you have been badly let down with this build, but that such a formerly esteemed member has let so many people down in a way that seems so out of character. I know that you had an especially good relationship with him, and that must be all the more painful. Hope the bass is ok and ends up a beauty.
15. Fair enough. I've never bought a new bass before, but I'd be gutted if I was stuck with one with a dead spot. What about Consumer Contracts Regs? Edit: just googled it, seems that it's too late for that
16. About once a year for me. I do it because I think it's about that time. The deterioration in sustain/timbre is a very gradual thing, so it's only when I change them do I really appreciate the difference.
17. Pretty sure I've liked all on the list. It's to be expected that some will harvest likes, and not bother to return the favour. Some will get bored halfway down the list. Some will have liked all on the list early on, then not return to the thread to like the subsequent additions. Some will only like those that they like the look of. Jus Lukin, if you're a hippy, let karma settle the score ;-)
18.
...well...don't leave us hanging here?
I'd like to say that I retorted with a suave witty innuendo of my own. In reality, the combination of being a bit taken aback (I very rarely get propositioned) and the fact that I had a girlfriend (who was at a table waiting for her pint) meant I just blushed, mumbled and left
19.
Can it?
Not unless you want to inflate your partner
20.
Well I LOOK like I've got €600,000 stuffed into my pants... ...oh all right then, it's a rolled-up tea-towel.
:-D
21. I hear that Adam Clayton plays with €600,000 stuffed into his pants. Not many people can play like that.
