I think I know the answer to this. A mate has recently bought a Squier VM bass (about five weeks ago) online from a UK retailer. He has just started trying to record with it, but has noticed that a certain note on the G string has no sustain - a dead spot if you will. He phoned the shop, and they are sending him new strings to see if that helps. I'm doubtful. Is this a no-brainer? Assuming the new strings don't resolve the issue, he's within his rights to send it back and get a replacement?

If there were more Pro/Name Bassists on BC ..
Roland Rock replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion
Mani (or someone purporting to be Mani) appeared on BC a while back, and made a few posts about playing with Primal Scream (didn't mention the Roses IIRC) A thread was started called "MANI'S ON BASSCHAT!!" and he seemed to vanish. I wonder whether he got inundated with PMs. I certainly don't remember him getting any abuse on the forum, just enthusiastic welcomes. -

I once played a didgeridoo set at a pub in York on Australia Day. As I was getting a drink after the set, a lady asked whether my circular breathing technique could be employed in a bedroom context! -
The VU meter looks off-centre in the video at the bottom of this page. That would drive me nuts. Some good features on it, though. I like the idea of the wireless play-along.
I see what you mean. Hopefully that's just because it's pointing slightly to the left. Hopefully. Looks like a handy piece of kit to me. If that's the RRP then that's the RRP. Time will tell whether it sells or not.

I've never been into Dingwalls other than the Super P and J, but those go-faster stripes on the pick guard really make this model look cool. I'm also interested in reports on the Darkglass preamp
Tort and black are way too dark. That blue bass is very nice, but it's a dark colour. You want something that will complement it, define the shape of the pickguard and show off the pickups. IMHO, of course...
I'd go for b/w/b You want something that will compliment it, subtly define the shape of the pickguard, and not let the pickup stand out too much. IMHO of course. :-p ;-)
Can you zap me info/pics of the in-ear headphones you pop into your ER molds? Cheers
Don't know whether you got an answer to this, but I found that my custom ACS moulds fit nicely onto my Etymotic ER4 headphones

I got the CD out to have a listen last night, but can't help with any confident accuracy I'm afraid - that bass is indeed VERY low in the mix :-( -
No, but when I was trading my 80s 2EQ Ray in, the owner sucked through his teeth and said "ohh, white - that'll be hard to shift" (MOR Music, York)

I vote in the competition every month, and leave Soundcloud comments etc. I never enter because I have very limited composition skills, don't play any other instruments and have never recorded anything myself before. I believe I could learn and improve on all of the above, but there are other things into which I'd rather invest my time. Each to their own I suppose, but I don't understand why a member of a community of musicians wouldn't be interested in listening to a set of new songs every month. Are there really people here who are not interested in other people's music?? How do you discover new stuff? I don't feel badgered by the promotion of the competition. Well, I did get a bit bugged by some BIG signatures promoting the composition and mixing comps, so just opted to hide the signatures of the offenders (sorry Skol and Milty). A thread on the subject is not annoying to me in the slightest.
I guess you'd have to avoid placing it on a deep pile rug or carpet to stop blocking that port on the bottom?
I thought the port was at the rear

What a great show of interest! Glad that those who came last year had sufficient fun to do it again, and great to see new faces. Can't wait to demo some COG pedals!

I always thought that the ATK was my favourite Ibanez bass - that has now changed since I've seen the Talman. Now all we need is a black/BWB/maple five string version

Nice one Shell. Here's to the next four years!

Quick update on my Accountant compressor - without it, the resonant peaks of my dub siren effect make it unuseable - think damaged PA and deafness. With the Accountant in its limiter setting, I can crank the siren and it stays even, and then easily adjust the level to the perfect volume. I'm a happy man :-)
I think these handles are a great improvement , & how hard can it be to turn them the other way .
Yeah, they are easily unscrewed, although I know that Alex uses a sealant around the handles too
