2. I like the thought of a simple amp with a SS power section (not a fan of the OTB sound, and am not convinced that it's just the preamp to blame). 10kg is perfectly manageable isn't it? This looks like a good, solid versatile amp to me.
3. It was a good laugh last time, so I'm in! I'll have space in the car for several people who would like a lift from Nottingham 1. Si600 - GK MB500 Fusion, GK MB212 (house rig), Fender P V. 2: Roland Rock - Avalon U5, Crown power amp, BF STwin. W&T Ergon and 78P if I get the refin done in time. Some pedals.
4. Next gig is supporting Kioko at Pi Bar in Leicester next Friday 30th Jan http://www.wherevent.com/detail/Dreaming-In-Colour-DICP-PRESENTS-KIOKO-formerly-Tempting-Rosie-with-support-from-Last-Edition-UJahm-PI-BAR-Friday-30th-January-8pm-FREE-ENTRY
5. This is as much as I can fit into my 12" squared board. New additions are the Accountant compressor (primarily to tame the squeals and rumbles of the dub siren) and a plectrum tin I wish I actually had a 'Patio' switch :-D
6. Having listened to it many more times, I've been able to acclimatise myself to the style and textures a bit more. It is so well crafted; he seems to have a knack for gradually revealing order from chaos. Current favourite is 1000 Deaths, a heavy mire of muted machine gun bass and distorted vocals which develops into a song which works so well. Love it
7.
I always thought it gave you far more area on which to rest your thumb, as opposed to just using the pickup covers.
Me too
8. My five string is pretty high end, but I gig it in all sorts of places. It has accumulated dings, but what the hell, it was made to be played. I can always get it refinished if it gets really bad.
9.
late to the party all liked in the pursuit of RSI! Please like us... Alright Dave, how's it going? didn't know you were on BC!

11.
Any physicists know how much lighter a helium filled 8 x 10 would be? And would it alter the tone with helium being less dense than air? Too early for a Saturday?
Have a browse through this thread for some answers :-) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/186740-why-havent-they-made/page__fromsearch__1
12. Ok, so it's early and I can't sleep, bizarre thoughts are swimming around in my head, so here's an entirely non-serious question. Bass gear can be heavy and awkward to carry. Remote control helicopters seem to be ten a penny these days. Is there a remote control helicopter on the market which could lift, say, a 20lb head? Imagine just walking behind your airlifted rig, guiding it across the carpark into the venue and setting it down neatly on the cab, then landing it on your Gramma Pad (modified with a spray-painted H) You can have that one for free.
13. Crumbs! That sandblasted finish looks awful, like a rotting dolphin. I sandblasted ash to make a piece of furniture recently, and even though it was my first attempt, it looks a hell of a lot better than that!
14. Looks like the Retros are ready to be shipped!
15. Welcome Al - there are a fair number of Basschatters in the Nottingham area. Look out for details of a Midlands Bass Bash later in the year and come have play with lots of basses and eat lots of cake
16. You need one that has nofx
17.
Point up when the bass is horizontal, so that they line up with the axis of the pickups and bridge.
Ah, ok thanks. What if you had a pickup blend knob? Surely the centre detente pointing to the top is the only logical position?
18. I'm a bit confused. Pointing vertically when the bass is upright? Pointing vertically when the bass is horizontal? Pointing vertically when you're wearing the bass? The Jazz bass control plate, when the bass is upright, points to the ten o'clock position, so unless you play like Bill Wyman, none of the above options make the marker line up with the control plate. Sorry if I'm being thick
19.
trying stuff on getting a feel for the garment....imagine if I worked in a shop with instruments,
Imagine if you worked in a lingerie department
20. D'Angelo's Black Messiah and Wrists' The Censorship Trap - two great albums
21.
This is the case with the 3 closet shops to me unloved stock coupled with bad attitudes and I think this is why a lot of people now shop on line now as well as much cheaper prices
Nothing worse than a neglected wardrobe ;-)
22. I've only ever gotten rid on one bass in twenty years of playing - it was a white mid '80s 2EQ Ray. I've never regretted trading it in. Good bass, but not for me
23. I can vouch for the quality of these superb boutique pickups (I use two myself) and for the integrity of the seller - great chap to deal with.
24. Welcome to Basschat Scotty
