That she is talking as much bollocks as Daltrey. Music doesn't have to have angst and purpose to be valid.
I've read the article again, and can't see where she says this? She quotes RD saying it, and then goes on to say why he's talking bollocks.
Those EA handles are good quality leather jobs too
Lovely thick leather with internal reinforcing metal strip. I know this because the leather tended to disintegrate over time due to the weight of the combo :-(
I think the 'more on this story' link was pretty much spot on . . . . http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/oct/28/old-musicians-kids-the-who-roger-daltrey-one-direction-generation
That's a pretty good retort to RD's overgeneralised, grumpy-old-man comments. I do think that the accusations of mysogeny were a bit of a stretch though; RD simply cherrypicked One Direction as an example of manufactured pop which is phenomenally and incoherently (to RD at least) popular - no intended condescension to girls intended IMO. My first thoughts when reading the OP article are that if the dude doesn't like what he sees on MTV, look at the huge number of smaller artists online. Spend an hour on Spotify, starting with something you like, then check out other acts that have been put on a playlist with them and make note of anything you like for further investigation. Look on their label and see what else is there etc. Before long, you've discovered a wealth of angst and substance, alive and well. As for movements? Well, as the article that FF linked to said, there have been plenty - maybe the ageing rocker only sees the type that are to his taste, which are from a different era.
Euphonic
Yup, I've had two replacement handles from EA no quibbles

Haha, just checked on this thread, zero views in three days. I'm guessing that the words 'Innovative Electronic Midi Content' are universally untempting :-D

I ordered the first '69er, and it took something like nine months. Very frustrating, but it was worth it in the end.
The thing is selling is a bit of a mixed bag... BC is good for selling as it has a large, ready made market of buyers but... the BC folk are a lot more knowledgable about a basses worth than you average music shop buyer. You will not sell a bass on BC for more than it is worth but in a shop you could do, there is a chance you could sell it for much more however it will likely take longer. Assuming you want to make as much money as possible from a sale I would use a shop... if your looking for a quick turnaround then use BC.
I always assumed that you'd get less from a shop as they need to factor in their markup on top of the 'saleable rate'?

Another great way is to stick details and pics up on this thread. As long as it's not too obscure, you should have a really good idea of the value before the day is through.
-
Go to the Basses for Sale forum, search for your model and you should see the kind of prices that bass goes for. Bear in mind that they may have accepted a lower offer behind the scenes. And best only to look at the ones marked sold. You will also come across extreme frustration when you see it has been sold, and the seller has deleted any pricing info Grrrrrr

Haha, love it. You gonna keep the Orange?
Are there any particular Herbie Hancock/Headhunters albums that you'd recommend?
The Headhunters album is a great start, but my favourite is Thrust, especially the song Palm Grease. Jerry Jemmott is well worth a mention on this thread. On BB King's Live and Well album, he plays on the studio half, and really shows his funk on Get Off My Back Woman

Thanks Nige, much appreciated. Feedback from the local music mag is good, looking forward to the review. Also, we've been included in local new music podcast Nusic - it's starting to emerge that Redder than Red is the track that people like best - not what we were expecting. Amusing Tweet (admittedly from our label) And a surprising new follower on Twitter:
You should see his bass, I'm surprised the thing is in one piece. My can is still in next to new condition after over a year of taking it to every rehearsal and gig, I have no cover for it either. And I haven't "babied" mine really either.
I still feel guilty about putting my bass stand next to your cab's grille in the car boot that time - hope I didn't scratch it. I'm so used to cabs having covers I didn't even think about it :-(
-
Looks really well designed and built, and matches the cab perfectly. I especially like the recess behind the handles. Edit: and the red washers - were they supplied?

I love all of these, well done everyone. I loved the powerful, emotive piece from Bilbo, but I'm naturally drawn towards the more electronic/industrial ones. I'm going to have to take a bit longer and have a few more listens, but at the moment it's a toss up between Skol and Leonard

I've had the Streamliner 900 and the Shuttle 9.2 The Shuttle is a really great little amp - very transparent and you can dial in a great number of tones in a very intuitive way (ie each control does exactly what you expect it to) Very versatile, although I wasn't too fond of the overdriven tone. The Streamliner is a very interesting little monster. It has a lot more natural heft than the Shuttle, and the OD is quite respectable. The tone controls all seem to affect eachother, so there is a lot more playing about to do to get the tone you're after, but when you do find that tone, it seems more musical and less clinical than that of the Shuttle. It won't do super-bright, but the top end is lovely and smooth. All IMO of course. They are both really nice amps.

Out now! The best value for £2.37 you can possibly get!

Five String Jazz Basses talk to me?! NOW A NBD THREAD !!!!!
Roland Rock replied to stingrayPete1977's topic in Bass Guitars
The Overwater is now even cheaper. I'd say that you could easily move this on at no loss if it didn't do it for you. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/247011-overwater-jazz-5-string-bass-was-l1100-reduced-to-l975/ -

There are a few genres that I will give a wide berth - hair metal, happy hardcore and show tunes spring to mind
Is it only Status that stock Status? I couldn't see them at Stringbusters either.
Yeah, I think you can only get them directly from Status.

Cheese Ritter anyone? http://youtu.be/Fz2_c4CDtWA

Perhaps it was wound around the tuning post too highly and one of the coils just slipped over the top of the post?
