1. I know that you can't put an apostrophe in the domain name, but if you are going to use an apostrophe in the real name, shouldn't it be '60s?
2. It might be a bit misleading to refer to the gated fuzz sound as 'synthy'. Of course it all depends what you think of when you think of a synth. The fuzz doesn't sound 'electronic', but is harsh and glitchy, and if you play softly you may get no noise at all. IMO it sounds more synthy when paired with an envelope filter, or LPF with expression pedal - that frequency sweep of the gated fuzz sounds great. The Wooly Mammoth is supposed to be one of the best, but apparently doesn't do well with active basses. The Mastotron is really good, and I'm currently using the Iron Ether Oxide which I love.
3. Am I the only one who happily lets other bands use his/her amp? I will politely but firmly tell the players not to put the volume above a certain level, and absolutely no drinks near it. People who don't know me can be intimidated by my large stature, and therefore tend to respect my wishes :-D
4. ...or the easy get out, it's broken/still in Croatia
5. Well done all three of you. I sent the link to the rest of the band and they really enjoyed them - each one had a different favourite! Thanks for showing us some new directions that mixes can take the track - that in itself has been invaluable :-)
6.
do you think mark bass or someone could be convinced to put a switch on their amps to disengage the EQ and put a hard limiter on so that amps used this way wouldn't be damaged at all? the idiot switch....
IIRC BCer Tayste had Matamp add a switch to his GT200 which would instantly bring back his preferred settings, no matter what the borrower had dialled in
7. I like all the blacks - Black Night, Black Dog and Back in Black
8.
I know a guy who added grille cloth because the yellow wasn't right for blues
Yeah, if you add yellow in that situation you end up playing the greens ;-)
9.
Do they have an actual visitable shop?
It's mostly full of pedals and accessories, with not many basses or amps, IIRC so if you want to give it a test run, you might want to ring in advance to make sure that they have the kit in, or that they are cool with you bringing your own
10. I concur. I've used mine for two years (bought from BCer OldHorseMurphy), and the Mono M80 has been gathering dust ever since. Great quality and protection. It's not the lightest, but that's never been an issue for me.
11. The band in the studio earlier this year (with a few cartoon effects) No-one else bothers taking pictures, so there are never any of me playing, just one of me chilling
12. I've paired it with the BF '69er (as has Bertbass) and it's a great match. Possibly the sealed cab controls the big low end, I don't know, but it sounds great
13. Here's the next one - Medfest is a nice little afternoon at the Victoria Embankment area of Nottingham. Nice to bring the family for the afternoon, that type of thing. UJahm's lyrics about police harassment ("Narcotics"), sexual innuendo ("Lollipop") and weed ("Redder than Red") will go straight over the kids' heads. Also notice that blues veteran Mick Rutherford is playing. This chap has been inducted into the blues hall of fame in the US, and has played with Jimi Hendrix among others, not to mention the impressive pedigree of his band.
14. I love this video of the Jesus and Mary Chain playing on Letterman in the early '90s. The core of the band, the Reid brothers, were the epitome of cool, always with shades and black clobber, never smiling. For this important US tour, their management arrange to have appropriate session players to perform, but it seems that there was a communication error, as this bass player is definitely at the wrong gig... http://youtu.be/NsuGek8WNUs
15. I forgot about Shep (Pantherairsoft) - I saw him do a great improvised set which was really atmospheric
16. It has been quite steady over the summer for us - a few nice ones like supporting Finlay Quaye, and a number of festivals, including One Love down near Milton Keynes tomorrow.
17. It looks much better in black IMO
18. A few of the Nottingham crowd: - BigRedX (Dick Venom and the Terrortones) several times. Always an invigorating show, packed with energy, fun and rock n roll. - Lee Man (depping in a funky pop band) A top notch player whose years of experience show in spaces. Lovely chap too. - Big John (Curtis Whitefinger Ordeal/Rust For Glory, Neil Young Tribute) Fun character and a good solid player. I have yet to see KevB and Prime Bass, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
19.
You know there are lifts all the way down, right?

D'oh!
:-D
20. Well, here's a review of our Sounddhism gig - basically the reviewer didn't watch us :-D "UJahm were upstairs at the same time and by stubbornly refusing to move from Natalie’s set, I regretted not getting a taste of the local quartet after hearing their praises from several people" In fairness, I'm not surprised; we were on at the same time as rising star Natalie Duncan - as we finished I caught the very end of her set, and wow, what a voice!
21. I meant a stack of the Burman, Ampeg and Matamp heads altogether!
22. Definitely at the wrong gig ;-) I'm surprised that you don't recognise him - the "This Drummer is at the Wrong Gig" YT vid went viral, and is infamous on Basschat as a "the video that people keep bloody posting thinking that they are the first ones" It appears that said drummer has been cashing in on his sudden fame.
23.
For all your vaneering needs http://www.originalmarquetry.co.uk/
I've used them a few times, but only as a last resort, as they are pretty pricy and their postage costs are very steep IME. I find that many of the best bargains come from EBay
