'How long' by Ace. I love a plodding repetitive bassline, but I'm yawning just thinking about that cheesy blandfest

Wow! I'd press Buy It Now if it had strings on it
Status have the visible weave, and Modulus have the 'messy pile of triangles', it's called 1000 ladies dancing, I prefer it's randomness to Status's regularity .
Fair enough. "1000 Ladies dancing" definitely beats "messy pile of triangles". Note to self - never work in marketing :-D

Carol Kaye for me. I love this insanely busy line with its gorgeous muted/picked tone: http://youtu.be/lg9LGNbxiB8

A question for graphite-neck experts if it's not too off topic - why do some have a nice tidy woven look, and others have a kind of 'messy pile of triangles' look?

The one that got away and the one best shut of...

I've never owned a stinker. Even my old Marlin Sidewinder holds a dear place in my heart as the instrument that I learned to play on - I gigged it and recorded that silver monster for three years, totally unaware that 6mm wasn't normal action. I've been playing for twenty years, and have only offloaded two basses: - The one I miss least is the 2EQ Ray as I couldn't get it to sit in the mix. - The other was an Epiphone El Capitan acoustic - it had a lovely tone, and I have great memories of taking it around Western Australia busking and jamming. I don't miss the bass so much as the experiences that I had with it. -
Should have kept my Jaydee MK11 and the MM Ray which I sold to Sshorepunk - didn't realise how much better it was than the newer ones. At least with the Jaydee it went to somebody who appreciates it.
Am I reading this wrong, or are you a bit bitter that Sshorepunk has not appreciated the Ray? -

'It's album time' by Todd Terje For me, this album has filled the void that was left by the very disappointing Random Access Memories http://youtu.be/uLkx2Vg8RZo -
I was partial to a bit if Kerbdog back in the '90s. I've seen them play a few times, and met them when they did a mini gig/cd signing thing at the Left Legged Pineapple record shop in Loughborough. Some great music - they should have been bigger IMO

It's correct that the fundamental frequencies of the E and B strings are at those frequencies, but the majority of what we actually hear when playing each note is the harmonics/overtones, which have frequencies well above the fundamental. I ordered a Barefaced '69er cab, but while I was waiting for it to arrive, I also bought a five string bass. Suddenly I started to worry, because the cab rolls off at 40Hz and I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to hear the low B. Alex assured me that it would be fine, and sure enough, the B rang out clear as a bell. What I was getting with the '69er was the B's overtones, but not the fundamental. When it gets down to 40hz or below, it starts to blur the line between 'hearing' and 'feeling' the fundamental. That low 'feel' is great in the studio and live with certain genres. However, if you are just using your amp as a stage monitor, as many do, too much low frequency can suck power, stress speakers and flood the stage with rumble.

As if making music isn't weird enough already

Next Saturday's Sounddhism event is in the week's top three gigs: http://www.nusic.org.uk/wordpress/top-3-gigs-week-beginning-28th-july/ "UJAHM will be bringing the chilled out Reggae vibes – bouncy beats from Neckie, Chris and Kamrah compliment the sultry vocals that Shylaah delivers, to make something that wouldn’t sound out of place on a Jamaican beach somewhere." And from Sounddhism themselves: "Performing Sounddhism for the first time after having steadily built up a lot of love from heads all over Nottingham this past last year or so, Ujahm's infectious brand of Urban Reggae is gonna make it feel seriously sunny up in the Bodega this Saturday. The Nottingham-based four-piece have brought powerful live shows to the table and will soon be releasing their eagerly-awaited debut EP. Charismatic singer Shylaah effortlessly delivers lyrics on everyday living and social issues over the band’s mix of British ska and roots reggae, whilst sprinklings of dub and hip hop permeate throughout for a fresh and uplifting sound. We can't wait to have them get you bouncing this back on home turf "
I think the OP means a beer koozie!
Or stubby holder (in Australian)

Another trip to The Hop Pole in Bromsgrove. It was a very warm evening and inside of the pub was quiet, but with a busy beer garden. Despite the sparse crowd, the atmosphere built up during the two sets, with a full dance floor towards the end, and plenty of praise, with a generous amount in the 'whip round bucket' too. Our first public performance of new cover 'Police and Thieves' went down a storm - definitely one to keep in the set. Another added bonus was when a venue owner approached us afterwards wanting us to play at his place in Redditch All in all, a worthwhile trip :-)
Genz heads are shelved at 80Hz for example..
.0 Genz models had that 80Hz cutoff point, but the later .2 models had a lower cutoff around 30Hz IIRC

I think that one of the Basschat volunteers, who is a big fan of The Jam, has one of these, but replaced the stock pickups. Just do a search for " Modded Mod Mod's Bass Mods"

The eagle eyed in the gigs section may have spotted that next Saturday we play at Riverbank Festival at 6pm, then at the Bodega Social at 8pm
