1.
I hear the "its loud" message, but I got the same with the LB30... and it isn't (loud that is) and itisn't gigable other than with some church mice. Does anyone have any live recordings from the audiances perspective?
But this thread is about 100w valve heads Edit, sorry, I think I now see that you were addressing a specific previous post, and your post makes more sense now :-)
2. Ed bought my Radial DI, and it was an effortless transaction. Fast payment and great communication. Top chap to deal with :-)
3. It's got about sixty fewer knobs than the Fodera
4. Someone say Curve? Ahhhh...memories of a teenage me lusting after Toni Halliday.. http://youtu.be/Q9Plourz3Xs
5.
Not to worry. Someone, somewhere, will do it I have no doubt.
His very efficient colleague Sian has called me saying that yes, they can do what you want. I've PM'd you her number
6. I've passed the query to a chap I know in printing. I know he does shaped cards, but don't know whether he's restricted to templates or can do any shape. I'll let you know his response. He's actually a BC Member, but not sure how often he visits Edit update: He's away on holiday, sorry
7. Dude from Nickleback! Anvil!
8. Ah, sorry, I thought by your description that you were after Latin funk bands
9. This is the gist of a PM conversation the other day: Them: Are you open to offers? Me: No, it's a bargain and if it doesn't sell for £60 I'll just keep it Them: How about £45 posted?
10. And some pure sex from Chakachas http://youtu.be/XGVuLCBlDkY
11. I think that the Solo Bass Guitar CD is the only Squarepusher album that I didn't bother buying - those three words 'Solo Bass Guitar' were enough to put me off, no matter how big a fan I am. I watched the first fifteen minutes odd of this show. Maybe it's because it was only on iPad speakers, but the whole thing seemed to be very upper-register, like guitar territory. Lots of flamenco-style chords and fingerpicking. Also not a fan of that half-fretted buzzy note thing that he seems so fond of. The more rhythmic and riff-based he became, the more I enjoyed it. Last time I saw him play, it was an hour and a half of fit-inducing bombardment-of-the-senses electronica, with a ten minute interlude for solo electric bass. That's more my kind of show. http://youtu.be/XvLAKrVbCBM
12. Here's a newly posted video of Mr Jenkinson's 'Solo Electric Bass' performance. I must say, I much prefer his electronic stuff, but thought some may be interested. http://youtu.be/gFWjkku2qjQ
13.
Got gas for one of these but really worry about gig volume juice. I love all-valve and dont mind a bit of breakup but dont want full on mushy distortion. It would be paired with an Ashdown VS-212 cab, played with a flats loaded P bass against 2 guitards with 80w hybrid marshalls and a fairly loud drummist. The option ive considered is renting one for a week to see how i get on before taking the plunge but none of the local rental places have them. Anyone on here either gig with one or prepared to lend me one for a week in return for my TC RH450 for a week? The other option is the Little Bastard 550 but these are hard to come by and are only pre-amp valved
Your band sounds LOUD! Too loud for a LB. What about the CTM amps? If that's too much money, maybe check out some of Mr Foxen's* older amps like Sound City etc. Where has he gone, anyway?
14. Anyone catch The Wailers' set? Nice to see Family Man in action, but overall the set seemed to just be a diluted crowd pleasing Bob Marley cover show with very little feel or proper groove to it :-(
15. I think I'm a little bit in love with St Vincent: http://youtu.be/BWu28I44XRo
16. Not seen Bombay Bicycle Club before, and not really my bag, but they have a good tight rhythm section - nice dynamics to the songs too
17. Haha, cool spinny bass move Rob "Metallica loves you Glass Ton Burry"
18.
We do make a real effort to play as quietly as we reasonably can.
...says the man sitting on a 6x15 cab ;-)
19. I really enjoyed Paolo Nutini. He is effortlessly cool through the way he is so obviously into his music. Superb band and I'm loving the new album, which helps. I saw Arcade File at Glastonbury a few years back and they were a brilliant live act, and I see that nothing has changed there. Funnily enough I've never been inclined to buy their music
