1.
C'mon, 'tis a thing of beauty, if a bit small!
2. Ade (Planer) bought my Polytune pedal. All very fast with great communication and no issues at all. Great chap to deal with.
3.

That looks pretty inoffensive to me - my only quibble would be that the straight lines and angles on the truss rod cover seem at odds with the otherwise curvy appearance
4. Glockenbump for a top quality preamp. Don't let the fact that it doesn't have a valve put you off - the drive sounds superb. Glockenklang are as good as it gets
5.
Bugger, just checked my diary and I'm gigging otherwise I's have popped down. Have a good 'un Chris.
Never mind Kev, cheers anyway
6. In my opinion, Nordstrand, Alleva Coppolo and SGC Nanyo are all contenders. Still great basses though.
7. Dan bought my Zoom H2 recorder. All was done with good communication and no issues at all. A good man go deal with.
8. I sold my Glockenklang amp to Ozzy/Rafa. Sometimes international/cross currency transactions can be that bit more glitchy, but no such problems here. He's a great chap to deal with with good communication throughout.
9. Test Match gig postponed. New date TBC
10. Canada - so much more than sh*t beer: http://youtu.be/Hd3oqvnDKQk
11. I have one, and really like it. Before that I had the '69er but I wanted something a bit cleaner and more transparent. It's a very clear and articulate cab with plenty of deep (but not boomy) bass. I can't imagine needing a tweeter with this cab (I actually cut the treble on my amp and bass) but I suppose it depends on your own requirements.
12. I've had a few plays with the Avalon>Crown>Barefaced setup now, and am extremely happy! I tend to play with bass and mids flat and quite a severe treble cut (new roundwound strings) and I have what I've been after for ages - clarity, no distortion, no boom, and lots and lots of headroom. The Crown has all DSP off. At tonight's gig, we were supporting Finlay Quaye, and we decided that both bands would use my rig (the Avalon was also used as a DI to the PA) Onstage, it was fat, clean and huge sounding. Watching the other band, I was only really hearing the PA, but hearing a superb reggae player on a lovely pre-EB 'Ray through the Avalon was a real pleasure - absolutely huge depth to the tone. This rig is a keeper.
13.
Is it actually supposed to be a "thumbs up"?
Yes. Or bangers and mash.
14. Haha, well at least it has a sense of humour.
15.
Whatever happened to Topics anyway? A hazelnut in every bite..yum :-)
I don't think that this incident involving an 'extra crunchy' Topic did sales much good; http://www.independent.co.uk/news/mouse-found-in-topic-bar-1179399.html You could say that many people have gone 'off Topic' ;-)
16. Bump http://youtu.be/DMo6Ju8SJ8o Oops, sorry, was bumping my listings but just realised this one is bumping too soon! Sorry, won't happen again
17. Bump for the best thing to come out of Canana since Justin Bieber
18. Well, that bump worked, thanks Thunderbird! Sold
19. In the age of the detachable ring-pull cans - get the above opener and gently hook the end up under the ring, so that the majority of the opener is hanging over the edge of the can. Give the overhanging end of the opener a hefty thwack. If you get it just right (maybe one time in five) the ring pull comes off with a mighty bang and flies across the room. On the subject of getting upset over forum content, I tend to agree with Neephied. My mentality is that it's a community with real people and opinions, and I will treat it as I would any other form of communication. I try not to be rude, and if someone is rude or overly abrasive to me, i will get defensive/upset, just like I would in real life. Just like in real life, if someone expresses a different opinion in an informed and civilised manner, then there is no issue. @ Betafunk - Why has this thread had much more interest than one about Jaco's new video? Well, from my perspective, although I own and occasionally enjoy Weather Report/Jaco music, I have limited interest in exploring bootlegs/previously unrealeased material. However, I've found this thread interesting as it raises some issues around forum etiquette/psychology. It highlights the variety of what people are thinking when they post, and I've found it a useful avenue of getting to know others in this community that bit more. I know enough about Basschat that some members won't give a sh*t about that, but that knowledge in itself is useful for knowing who to engage with on certain topic, and how to go about it.
20. The coolest bass shape on the planet!
21. Cheers Skol, really looking forward to hearing the mixes. This link may be of interest to those who want to go into the crazy world of dub. Some of the techniques are somewhat eccentric... http://www.interruptor.ch/dub_fx.shtml
22. I've made a baseplate for BRX - I've put a few pics below if you're interested: 1: I got a piece of 3mm stainless steel and cut the rectangle slightly oversized on a jigsaw (metalwork blade, very slow speed) 2: Use the bridge to mark the holes and drill holes, slightly oversized 3: Smooth the edges on a linisher until correct dimensions. It gets HOT! 4: Round the corners on a bench grinder. Sparks! 5: Smooth off with fine sandpaper, then polish with an abrasive paste. Here I've used a mop attachment for the lathe: 6: Final polish by hand and it's done:
