Not heard of the Avatar, and doubt many would on this side of the pond. About nine years ago I bought a little-known cab from the States, and it was really, really good. Two things to consider are: - You'll need to factor in postage and tax/import charges - No matter how good it is, if you ever want to sell it on in this country, you'll take a big hit, as people only tend to pay for brands that they are familiar with. Edit: if you live in the US, ignore the above :-D

I've played the intro/chorus to this song by using a 'tap'n'slide' technique with both hands - - start by tapping your right index finger on the 17th fret of the G string (C ), and your left index finger on the 3rd fret of the E string (G) - simultaneously slide down to the 9th fret on the G string (E), and up to the 8th fret on the E string (C ) - then simultaneously slide up to the 14th fret on the G string (A), and down to the first fret on the 1st fret on the E string (F) It's surprisingly effective The verses I just tried played the line fingerstyle, getting as close as possible to the double bass part's feel.

An opinion is a personal thing, and everyone is entitled to one, although some are more qualified than others, right? This topic is about how time/memories/other factors may distort the truth somewhat. Here's some hypothetical examples: - A player had a 2EQ Stingray 13 years ago, and he has always upheld on BC that they didn't like the tone. The truth is, he was young and clueless about controls at that time, and in likelihood just had the Bass and Treble cranked all the time. - Someone states that a certain rig that they had in the '70s was the perfect tone, a tone that no other rig to this day can equal. That was 40 years ago - the person is very different, their hearing is probably different. Perhaps those 'glory days' bring back all sorts of happy memories of youth, groupies etc. and their memory has filtered out all the crap stuff. Could their memory have sweetened up the tone of that rig over time? - A band are supporting, and the headliners kindly offer the use of their gear. The bass player is faced with an Orange Terror bass and a Markbass cab, neither of which she has used before. She is too polite to tweak the controls, so plays the gig, and is not keen on the tone. Every time an Orange Terror is mentioned on BC, she chips in saying that they are crap. I have been guilty of 'blanket statements' on BC in the past. When you think about it, how accurate are your opinions on gear?

This compatibility is tricky to know in advance, as not many preamp manufacturers state the output levels. I had to contact Glockenklang (who were great) to ensure that my head's preamp had enough output for the Crown. For the Avalon, I've just had to go on anecdotal web stuff where people have said that they've happily run their U5 with a Crown power amp.
