Valve Amplifiers Only. No Hybrids / Valve pre-amps..
Roland Rock replied to VTypeV4's topic in Gear Gallery
All tube, trace Hexa valve
The EQ section is not valve - is that allowed in this elite thread ;-) Lovely amp. I have the baby brother Twin Valve, and can only imagine how loud this beast goes. -
Barefaced Cabs - Retro six10 and Retro Two2
Roland Rock replied to JamesBass's topic in Amps and Cabs
There is something about the '69er that is quite special. It must be the combination of sealed punchy goodness, added harmonics from that top right driver, and the roll off at 40Hz - it just works really well. All of those elements have changed - I hope this cab hasn't lost what makes the '69er so special. -
Glad to see there will still be some ACG reprazentin' despite Alan and Andy ducking out. I want to hear that EQ01 pre as I'm almost certain it's what I 'need'

I have buyers for both my Mastotron and '69er so won't be bringing them, as technically they belong to someone else now :-) Crown Power Amp still available if anyone wants a gander?

**SOLD** For sale is this superb fuzz pedal. It's basically a Wooly Mammoth, with an additional impedance control to suit different basses. It can range from creamy old-school sustain-filled fuzz to really heavily pinched glitchy synthy fuzz. I bought it new several months ago and it's in great condition, pretty much as new, except for the velcro on the underside. As you can see from the pictures, I've kept the original rubber feet, and it comes in the original box with warranty card and manual. £80 SOLD Postage is an additional £6, or welcome to pickup in Nottingham. If it's still available, I'll bring it to the Midlands Bass Bash this Saturday. My Feedback: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2405024

Just tried the Oxide and that is one filthy, Synthy sounding pedal. Works fine with my active bass too, Expect to see a Mastotron up for sale very soon!

I bought a pedal from Ben. Great transaction with good communication and prompt, secure delivery. I'd have no problem dealing with him again.
In the 80s i worked for a couple of hi fi mags. There was a guy called peter belt who sold some interesting, err improvements for your system. Try googling him. I recall one involve a piece of wire a couple of inches long with croc clips that you attached to your power cord. Another was sticking bluetack in all your 13amp plugs. Try this for example http://pwbelectronics.co.uk/product/quantum/quantum.html
Wow! http://pwbelectronics.co.uk/product/ccu/ccu.html :-D

I wanted a foam case for my head, and this one ticked all the boxes: http://www.terralec.co.uk/padded_bags_and_covers/cobra_dj_controller_foam_case_medium/33250_p.html I'm used to Protec or even Gator quality bags, so when this arrived, I could see that it was vastly inferior. First impressions: The material is very thin, there are no feet and the front pocket is on wonky. The straps and zips are more 'clothing' standard than the tough heavy duty stuff. As soon as I opened it and put the lid back, the lid came away from the body of the case a bit. On closer inspection, it was only attached with staples. I decided that I'd keep it and see how it fared, as I couldn't be bothered to return it, and as far as I could tell, there was no equivalent on the market. After a couple of days, the internal plastic cracked a bit near the handle. After a month or so, the handle broke right off. Just now, the strap, which I was using instead of the handle, broke off. The metal clip had snapped. Even though I've replaced the strap so that I can carry it, I can see that they decided not to have the strap stitched all the way around the case, as one would expect with a 'strong' case, but stitched to each side. It's only a matter of time before this tears the thin material onto which it is stitched. To be fair, my amp weighs 11kg, so it's probable that it's heavier than a DJ controller, but I still wouldn't trust any valuable item in this case, regardless of weight. From the description "A strong padded case for DJ controllers or any equipment that needs to be well protected" - bollocks! It's not like it was that cheap. Be warned!

Nice one Kev, thanks. I thought I had read that you were unable to make it - glad to see otherwise :-)

Yup, the roundcore on my 5er. Since having a fiver, I've had strings by Fodera, Dunlop, The EB Cobalts and the Status. The Status are my favourite - really rich and even. The B is absolutely fine, although saying that, all of a sudden my B seems to be having trouble intonating (after nine months), so I'll be putting another set on soon.
Some years ago I upgraded my CD interconnect from the standard 50p piece of kit to one costing £25 and there was a definite improvement in sound quality ( back then my ears worked). Soon after I attended a Nordost promotion with cheque book in hand and despite comparisons between cables costing around the £100 mark and others costing thousands, I could not detect any difference.
A very good example of the law of diminishing returns. Bee news: http://m.livescience.com/33075-how-bees-fly.html
Room for one more ? I would like to come and bring my latest build for you all to have a go on.
