1. I have a 24 fret Hohner and two 21 fret Fenders. I don't go up the dusty end much so it makes no difference to me
 2. I find it hard to sleep after a gig as I am usually buzzing Not drinking means I can't wind down with a brew when I get home
 3. I set my own up too. It really helps understand the bass. If you don't feel confident then get it checked by a pro and ask if you can watch
 4.
There's a bit more to me than just my natural charm, wit and sophistication you know...
You're not Bass player by any chance?
 5. It's my band...... probably get replaced next week now
 6. Brilliant Makes my Tattoo's look like rubbish
 7. I too practice with headphones. Just a word of warning. Don't turn the volume up as you will damage your hearing.
 8. I always like to try it before parting with cash. Nothing wrong with Squirers if thats your budget (I have one). As most have said, play a few and buy the one that suits
 9. Her playing really inspires me. There was a thread last year that she got slated on Made me quite cross
 10.
I don't get what you're trying to say; that music becomes mundane once you understand how it's put together? Isn't that like asking what's the big deal about English literature because it's just a jumble of 26 letters?
Thanks, you just ruined English Lit for me......
 11. Hope that heals soon! No bass..... gives you a good excuse to brush up on your reading! (bit cheeky as you may read like a pro )
 12. I like it if I am alone. If I have given a lift to another band member then I hate the post gig evaluation
 13.
Encore P copy through a Carlsbro Stingray.
He copied my rig then
 14.
Haha imagine legolas from lotr but with daft muscles, and you're pretty much there...
That just put an image in my head I just didn't want
 15. I have bought three basses and sold one. I failed to give away a bass amp..... Now I need to shift the two basses in my sig but no luck yet!
 16.
I do apologise. It's these new meds, and blatant theft of Beatles lyrics.
The Beatles? Who are they?
 17.
Yeah, but despite that, some good has to have come out of it...
18. Playability for me. The weight is an issue now too. Colour is not an issue nor is name on the headstock!
 19.
Who was George Harrison? Good points though. The current mrs discreet hardly ever lives in the present, preferring to worry about the future and feel guilty about the past. I'm a bit more Zen about it, me. But sometimes our paths cross, usually next to the fridge. However, it can be difficult to learn from history when those who write it always have an agenda. Nothing is real! Life flows on, Within You And Without You.
Wow, that was deeply profound
 20.
Can you drive a boat? Unless 'driving the rescue boat' is a porn euphemism, obviously.

Yes - I had to go on a special 3-day course to learn how. We had practicals and videos, and we got to practise with each other.
OK, which one are you saying yes to?
 21.
I haven't read the entire thread but I do generally think it's a bit counter productive to be derisory and critical of people for what they don't know as it creates an atmosphere of piousness, people will discover things on their merits, many kids don't know who McCartney is simply because he is not in musical vogue currently... can you call to mind all the music heroes for the 40 years prior to your teens? I doubt it very much... do you even know who Jerome Kern is? Lighten up, let people discover, and don't criticise their lack of knowledge, because by doing so you are simply cementing it's continuance.
Some very good points in there. I certainly cannot tell you who was popular 40 years before I was born - probably Mozart It does put it into perspective.
 22. Punk gave me hope that I could perform on stage It was a very good thing for me. I wanted to play the blues but lacked the ability so punk allowed me to play while learning
 23.
I will say though, that the current mrs discreet went to the hairdresser today for a 'plum rinse'. Which is not what I thought it was.
Just splattered my screen with coffee!
 24. Good news, well done. Post some sounds when you get some material recorded with you on the bass.
 25.
Again? It's only the third change since I joined the forum in 1752. How d'you like my new plastic surgery? Pretty smooth, huh?
I was quite sad when I saw the change I liked your old one Still that's why I play Fenders I suppose
