1.
I've just started researching pubs in edinburgh for gigs, and it looks like a lot of the same bands do the venues. How do you break in? money? murder?
Murder is probably extreme, just a good kicking to front man will do. Failing that, play for less than the rest......... just be aware they may give out the beatings if they find out All tongue in cheek - just keep trying and once one accepts you, the others will fall in line!
2. That is one beautiful bass...... Perhaps you could record something and post it so we can hear it too? Just a thought
3. Welcome to the forum. I am sure there will be some local along shortly to help find a tutor. There is a section for teachers etc. Good luck
4. DHL have a POD system. It is between them and the sender. (Just checked their web site). Chase the vendor.
5. Thanks for that I will get back to you and post something on soundcloud when I can say it
Travlang.com has very good audio files in their English to Finnish section, you might want to check them out. Finnish is easy to pronounce, everything is pronounced exactly as it is written. Give it a try
6.
I'm also hoping that Thomann will be able to do something from their end as their customer service has alwys been very good in my experience.
They do go the extra mile! I have found them very good in dealing with problems. Good luck in getting it sorted quickly.
7. I met a few of your countrymen early in December whilst at a training seminar in Germany. They all spoke perfect English! I would like to know how to say "hello, how are you" if I meet them again!
8. Welcome aboard. Your English is better than my Finnish and very polite too.
9. I too have had such problems and they usually get sorted as above (in iCastle's reply) Just keep onto them and things will move. Don't let it ride, constant emails and phone calls usually do the trick! (Edited as I was a bit slow in posting )
10. That is really good. I just played it to my misses who asked if you have an album yet The DB sounds great and makes me want one even more! Thanks for posting.
11. Nope, I got a motorcycle from my wife
12. I love these labels....... and being 46 the bass label fits even if I played lead guitar
13. My local shop does not stock bass strings at all...... but sells basses! When I asked him, he was honest and said that nobody ever bought them as he could not compete on price. The fact is that bass players rarely break strings so are not in a hurry to buy more. They change them when 'dead' and ordering on line is cheaper and just as convenient. Buy them online as it is not like you can try before you buy!
14. and people say Fender's look naff........ I'd rather have my Jazz than that any day. I would probably give up playing if that was all that you could get
15. My GAS is unabated...... my bank balance has other ideas I keep it in check until I can afford to let loose. I want a EUB and one these Class D light weight amps. Still enjoy playing what I have whilst I have it
16. That's a pretty bass Porn at it's finest!
17. I fancy having a go at making a set of these. If I do, I'll post a build diary. I have a lathe, milling machine etc. (I used to be a toolmaker ) I've never built a pickup before, it could be fun. Hand winding 6,000 coils may take a while, perhaps that calls for a jig!
18. Welcome to the low side. I started at 44
19. Welcome on board. Good luck with the band.
20. I didn't vote as I was unsure if it was bass owed or wanted I could have ticked every year if it meant basses not owned........ Only Jazz or P/J for me
21.
wrong scale length for me
He does quote various lengths, you never know he might have one to suit
22. Welcome aboard. Stunningly nice basses!
23.
After filling the fret slots and rubbing it down, what needs doing before it is ready to play? I thought it would need a once over with lemon oil?
Sorry, my answer could have been a lot clearer.
I wouldn't worry too much about oil for the moment as if you decide to go the epoxy route oil will only hinder the coating process. It'll be perfectly playable without lemon(snake) oil.
This is what I meant!
24. I have one of each and the epoxy coated has (IMHO) a better feel. My de-fretted Jazz is just standard rub down and oiled. It plays well and I love it but it just isn't the same as the epoxy. Personally, why not try playing it first then decide if you dont like the feel and coat it. (Don't oil it though, just play it). I use flats on mine btw.
25. Welcome aborad. Plenty of advice on here!
