1. Both Bassdrobe and contents extremely
 2. I do like my basses. I have bought and sold several to get the ones I have now. Because they feel right, I play them more. I will probably keep on trying basses and if I find another that has a great feel, I will probably buy it and sell one of the others. There is still plenty of practice and learning going on, but I am human and a bloke and fickle
 3.
Can you do it again? Love to hear it through the little speakers on my laptop.
Ah, thats the trick isn't it It was more of a noodle to try the fretless out. I could probably recreate it to some extent but it wouldn't be note perfect! Speakers make so much difference don't they. I plugged my mp3 through the Orange and it sounds quite good
 4.
Lost me on the PXR4 thing. But yes there is too much gain going in. How do you monitor? Headphones.
Sorry, the PXR4 is a Korg ToneWorks 4 channel digital recorder. It has effects and I had a little chorus dialled in. I probably made the mistake of using my Orange amp as a monitor as it sounds great whilst playing The trim pot on the recorder was set too high (I now realise) at around 5. Should have been on 1 "Must try harder"
 5.
Definitely. And up the drums in the mix. It sounds a bit muffled. What did you used to record?
I recorded straight into my pxr4 and then added the drum track in audacity
 6.
Wow nearly took my head off! BIG sound.
Thanks for your reply I think I should have trimmed the input a little more, sorry! Not quite the mellow fretless sound I was looking for
 7. I have a squier with a dodgy looking Fender logo It has been lightly sanded and applied hence the discoloration and 'floating' appearance of decal. Not looking like a MIM to me but still £180 is probably a good price if it's a Squier and not some plywood copy.
 8.
Hell yeah! But the beauty of it is that only you have to listen to it I still cringe at some bits in the tracks I've put on soundcloud but it's all part of learning...
I recorded a 2 minute track and posted it in the recording section. Absolute rubbish but I do enjoy playing Nobody's listened yet so perhaps everyone already knows how bad I am
 9. I voted no. Especially as it is a charity gig. Stand your ground
 10. I decided to record my Fretless Squier yesterday. This is the result. Needs more work Any comments welcome, I'm not sensitive. If you think its cr*p, just say it! Blademan
 11. For those of us who don't stray past the 12th fret, they are just cool Also, if your technique is thumb in centre of the neck, you can play them with no problem.
 12. I use this it's called drum track and it's free! It is from the source forge web site. You can create your own loops and export to wav etc. When laying down ideas, I have a Korg PXR4 which has a drum machine built in that is handy!
 13. Welcome aboard and get posting!

 17. Oh yes! Love the black one. Can't wait
 18. A lot of alternate tuning stuff I need to up my game
 19. At a jam night, just the landlord and myself were there for around three hours. At the end, as we were about to pack up, a group of 6 turned up and the landlord said 'if you want to get paid for tonight, play!' The best is a pub full. I would love to play a bigger venue.
 20.
God! I'm 41, what does that make me then????
Ancient? and I'm even older
 21.
Fair-Do's. Never done it tho... How does one go on about locking a topic?
PM a mod and request it?

 24.
New strings you say,how does that work then ? can you even buy replacement strings ? can they be fitted at home ?
You beat me to it That is usually my answer!
 25.
Unless you're playing professionaly, there always comes a time where personal commitments, work commitments, money and bandtime all collide. I don't see this as selfish, there are only 24 hours in a day and there is a finite amount of time and money that you can realisticly commit to spending. Selfish would have been stringing them along when they could have found someone with fewer commitments and would be around on a long term basis.
^^^ This
