1. I too am over 45 Light weight amp and cab. Light weight bass. Gig in suitable band Good Luck
2. PM'd
3.
Happy birthday. If you've learned the major scale you can play "happy birthday" to yourself . The bass looks nice, hope you enjoy it.
Can you post the tab? I'll get me coat
4. Happy birthday! It's not real if there are no pictures. Edit: now you have added them, this looks like a stupid comment Contrats on getting a prezzie you really want
5. She is fantastic Singing and playing bass! Words fail me...............
6. As the amp will only need 12v (you should be able to get the current needed from the amp) you can use a 'standard' cased transformer with appropriate power. The speaker will handle it if they were matched from your car. Build it and plug your mp3 player through it. Will be cool
7. CD arrived today The first thing that strikes you is the professional artwork. The inner sleeve is fantastic. The artwork is really quite stunning. As I was unsure of the musical content, I plugged in my headphones. The first track, Sticky Pants Trance is a fast flowing number and quite fun. Then comes RockinRollin VampireMan...... Wow that just hits you. Great bass line and a rockin groove! The last track, Lilly and the Killers has the heavy bass driving it forward. My only criticism is it's not long enough!!!! Great stuff, more than happy and only £3.50 posted When will there be a full album? I want it and put my order in now. Cheers Blademan
8. I love this forum. A thread on a 70's prog rock band decends into a LOTR discussion. Fantastic!
9. It was that got me to buy the fretless Jazz (even though I could ill afford it!). Best decision I made though. The Rogue has been banished to my bedroom and I feel my playing ability has increased. It took me a while to set up the Jazz to my liking but it is superb now. I have a pair (fretted and fretless) cheap Jazz basses that I am happy with. Practising every day makes me smile. Job done.
10. Could be the nut? If it buzzes that end, maybe the slot is worn. Try packing it up a bit just to see. A new nut is not expensive but worth checking first!
11. Good luck with the search. As others have said, perhaps a little more of a subtle approach... Each to there own
12. I got the Squier in my Avatar for £150 off BassChat. It's an active deluxe and plays really well. Superb value. Those on eBay you have listed are not great
13.
Have you ever thought about expanding the repertoire. Maybe to E major or even Fm
To be honest, Em and Am do it for me. I learned them 30 years ago on a guitar and they have never let me down (of course if Funk is in a major key, I may have to revise my life plans.... )
14.
I disagree with this. A nice instrument may inspire you to pick it up often, but it won't make you a better player-that is down to what you play/study on it,not the cost of the instrument and how often you pick it up.
Totally agree. I pick my bass up every day. I can play Em like no one else.......... Can't play funk though
15. That looks cool! I do like the Jaguar body shape. Do you mind saying what it cost? No matter if you don't
16. Personally, no more than £600. I do think that anyone can pay whatever they can afford. It's just a personal thing. I don't think I could justify more than £600 for the level of player I am. If I was pro, I would pay whatever it cost to get the tone / playability required. Edit: I have not spent more than £200 so far on a bass and £325 on a guitar!
17. I was taking lessons until I got made redundant. I will take them up again once I get a job sorted They are great, especially if you have something specific to learn.
18. Cool groove! Wished I was closer
19. Well, I have decided to go with the majority and not fit it Anybody wanting an ashtray can have it for £10 including postage
20. It would look nice in my living room......... It would be the only thing in there as the misses would divorce me and take all the furniture
21. Let me jump in and say flatwounds! I bought some Elites but they are a bit 'bright' for my liking. On my Squier fretless I have just put a set of Thomastik-Infeld 45-100's on. They feel really good and give a nice warm sound
22.
It's simple I do what I do on all depping gigs. I turn my volume down and smile, while looking like I'm plonking away furiously on my bass. I told this trick to a guitarist I was depping in a wedding band with. He had been thrown in the deep end as well and during one song that I hadn't a clue how to play I turned around to find him strumming happily away with his volume turned right down..........just like I was! When he realised I was doing exactly the same thing we broke into hysterical laughter - much to the confusion of the keyboard player who could see us playing away but could only hear himself and the drummer.
Now that I like
23. Without a recording or video, it just doesn't count
24. I want one
25. I just look over the singers shoulder. She always has the words and chords on a stand! Very professional
