1. Cool stuff.... not allowed new toys at the moment
2. I reckon my £250 Marshall MB4210 + 1 x 15 is far more usable
3.
Just play it as a 3-string bass, no-one plays that skinny little 1st string anyway...
That third string is just for show You only need the first twelve wire bits and those thicker two cables along the top.
4. Make it headless
5. Sorry to hear that. We had something similar and just left it. Then after a 4 month break, the landlord phoned and asked us back We obliged as money is money
6. That is a heck of a list! I knew about batteries etc and some are common sense. The lack of insurance (even though they take your money) is also a bit long!
7. Didn't like it, sorry
8.
I bought it off him for £45, so that's how much I want back for it. Price is firm. Comes boxed (no instructions - available online). I made one very small mod (if you can call it that) to the pedal, by removing the sponge things under the rubber feet at the top of the pedal (you can see them in place in this pic). It means instead of (as I found) pushing down hard etc but no engagement of the effect, you can now simply click it down and wah to your hearts content, then click it off again. Nothing major really, but very effective
Hi, is that £45 including postage? Thanks Blademan
9.
Too late in the day to change history now, pal!
Isn't that what wikipedia is for?
10.
To practice intonation, play scales & arpeggios against a drone note & let your ears tell you fingers where to go
I have just spent an hour playing my fretless with headphones and an iluminated tuner in the dark. You soon get to know and then it's close your eyes and enjoy
11.
I recon that the very first electric bass guitar was fretless, but the maker decided to bang some frets in it to make it easier for failed guitarists to play.
That'll be me then. I will start a website saying that, as a failed guitarist, I was the first fretted bass player. Even though I was born in 1965, I started playing electric bass in superb trousers in 1949..........
12. As above, don't do it Ears are better than eyes when it comes to fretless. I bet you don't look at the frets much when you play? Practice and it will come! (and I'm a guitarist who fell in love with a fretless and has not looked back!)
13.
Just goes to show how much attention I pay to my gear. Never realised my Viola was only 20 fret
Actually I was wrong, they have 22, sorry! I've edited my post to reflect my hasty posting
14. Item now deleted from my watch list...... I still want another cheap fretless Probably should get a job first

Hey Ho

Welcome aboard! You should get plenty of advice from all on here
16.
Check out the nut too.
I really should have studied the pictures before posting! Thats for you lol
17. I hate that when the venue pulls the gig at the last moment
18. Thanks my friend. Perhaps not the bargain I had thought
19. I only really need two strings and twelve frets...... seriously my fretless has 24 er positions! My viola only has 20 frets and I just love the short scale bass If they are there and I can use them, I will. EDIT: The viola has 22 frets I really should check before posting stuff!
20. West German Bass Anyone know what this is or what to expect? I think it looks cool and may purchase Cheers Blademan
21. Shame you are in Manchester! I would have bought it if you were closer.
22.
What's the difference between a blues musician and a jazz musician? A blues musician plays three chords to an audience of thousands - and a jazz musician plays thousands of chords to an audience of three...
LMAO I asked one of my kids this and she said: Ones sad and the other sings scat.......... Who needs to go out when all the entertainment is at home
23.
I'm not sure I understand the point either! I understand that the more complex the music becomes and the more jazz and classically influenced, the more money, intellect and power the performers are believed to have by the angry punks and layabouts who like three out-of-tune chords and 'the truth', and it breeds grave resentment among the uncultured.
I was enjoying this thread, but as a fretless bass player, I really like the out of tune chords....... They match my style Oh and yes, I am a layabout at present due to the lack of employment
24. I would hang it on the wall next to the others......... Perhaps I should actually take one fown and play it
