1. Very nice bass, and will get a bid if shoes thown in.....
2. I liked it and wished I could slap
3. Thanks for all the input everyone. I really don't want a combo, it's got to be a head and cab. I will try out the Orange Tiny Terror stuff as I really like them. Probably end up with the Trace Elliot stuff I have seen. Cheers Blademan
4. I think it real pretty At £300 even if it was fake, it's looks really cool!
5.
No . Stick to inferior players , you dont get it.
I don't think I do either......
6.
However this is a hellofalot of bass for the money: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=112782
Don't show him that, I'm saving up for it myself! (and don't tell the misses either!)
7.
OK, to be fair, I probably wouldn't pay money for it! But, it's an absolute joy! The idea of a family getting together and making music is - to me - completely wonderful! This has made me quite happy.
Thanks for that. I wouldn't pay either (and I don't think we could recreate it...!)
8.
I claim back the title of BCs worst bassist
I would like to challenge you on that. (see my post http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=124956 ) And a big thanks to all who commented!
9.
I think it tells you something about my formative years that I know that tune like the back of my hand. It's the demo tune from the Yamaha PSS-680 keyboard (they used it on a few other models too, so it could be the 480 or something similar): As for family jammin'... love it. Keep it up. I have the occasional session with my 3-year-old on ukelele and me on either bass or swanee whistle (don't ask).
WOW, you are good! That is exactly what we use! Thanks to all for the comments! I really didn't expect any and yes iit was great fun!
10. I got my Yamaha 5 string fretless off here for £80. Bargain.
11. It looks cool but not quite what I'm after......
12.
If you're happy to go 2nd hand, then there's a few markbass heads in the For Sale section on here for @ £400 & then you can get a decent cab for @ £3-400.
I am happy with second hand. I have seen the markbass heads on here and wondered what they are like (I have not heard one live). It's probably a bit cheeky asking for a demo in a shop then buying one off Basschat! (thinking of the thread by Pete)
13. That's really good! Thanks for posting the link.
14. Fretless is great fun. I have two now! A four and a five string. I practice on the fretted as mentioned above and that helps when starting out. Mine are just cheap ones (one is lined the other unlined). I don't even look at the lines! (and I am not a genius and have not been playing bass for long) Go for it
15.
Orange get a lot of love though I've not tried them myself. I've tried Trace Elliot but they weren't my cup of tea
May I ask why? I just don't have enough experience of the different rigs A friend has an old AH250 running through a 1 x 15 only and the tone was great. Another player who I have recorded regularly uses an Ampeg through a 4 x 10 and it also sounded good. To be honest I've not heard anything (whilst at gigs) that I thought was really bad. I know it's a matter of taste but when you are thinking of spending £600 - £800 on a rig, it needs to be right! It's why I am asking for opinions as I have no idea!
16.
Playing naked is a very liberating experience.
So, you think I should play naked in front of an 8 x 10 rig powered by the Ampeg? Cool, I like your style!
17.
You need to be twice as loud as the guitarist,so taking headroom into consideration an Ampeg SVT with an 8x10 is the only viable option.
But in reality, I would need a roadie to get it on stage
18. The extension cab issue is also one I would like to clear up! Why is a 1 x 15 standard to add to the rig? A 2 x 12 with a 4 x 10 would make sense (not that I think I will need it!). I am thinking about a Trace Elliot head and 4 x 10 cab. BUT I really would like to go down the Orange root
19. I once sold an electric fret saw on Ebay. On auction and a start of 99p and it went for £10 more than a new one! You just gotta love the bay
20. The little 50w Orange is great for practicing and for small (acoustic) pub gigs. I intended to use it for bigger gigs (with my electric band) by putting it through the PA. This has received a few complaints from the singer...... So, I am thinking 250 - 300w head and a 4x10 cab. I know it's been discussed before but what are your personal thoughts on power for venues (clubs etc). Cheers Blademan
21. There are a lot of nice people on here! I am fairly new and have got lots of help and advice. Welcome aboard
22. Welcome aboard
23. They are good but you can pay less for something as good (IMHO). They probably don't get mentioned much as they are not as popular with the people on here......
