1. I hear what you are saying but lessons are the way to go!
2. Nights in White Satin - Moody Blues Radar Love - Golden Earring Plus just noodling on the fretless......
3. The clip was awful but I am sure there are some clips around that some of you chaps wish didn't exist........ Still, I am no master of the bass so I will slink off and practice a bit more
4. I too am a recent convert :-)
5. Yes as I love playing live!
6. I gave up on FB and managed two hours practice a night...... Joined BassChat and that dropped to an hour a night. ...... now I am taking lessons, it's back to 2 hours and just the odd hour on here So to answer the OP, YES I do spend to much time on here!
7. This is me on my daughters Ibanez SRX700 (just before she sold it!). Not brilliant but I did enjoy myself......
8. Really liked it. I wouldn't put prices on. It's better to personalise the quote (clients don't like to let everyone know how much it all costs!). Blademan
9.
Here's another. Strange looking Hutchins 4 + 6 string doubleneck. Quite low BIN
Ahh come off it, you chaps are killing me here! Now, how do I sneak this in to the house? Only £150!
10. It seems to be catching this 'picking up a bass because no one else wants to'. I think it's the best decision I have made in a long while Welcome to BassChat!
11.
Hi there Blademan, Any Jeff Beck, Bill Frisell, Albert King, Albert Lee, Steve Vai, The Idle Race, Creation????
I'm afraid I don't have any of those. Since I put my collection onto MP3, I seem to have given away some choice albums. Jeff Beck/Albert Lee I could have done (drat!). Oh well, I do have Cream's farewell concert on DVD if that's of any interest? Cheers Blademan
12. I WANT it I can't afford it, I have no use for it, and the misses would probably strangle me! But hey, rock and roll
13. What sort of stuff do you like? I'm a big Clapton fan so will take it if you can give some idea for a swap? Cheers Blademan
14. We do get along just fine in standard and that's really where I would prefer to stay....... I rather do feel akin to Noel as he was a rhythm player who had bass thrust upon him! Really don't want to go down that route and the singer can perform the songs well now. It came from racking up more Hendrix tunes and thinking they may sound even better played as recorded. We will probably stay as we are, I just wanted to know what other more experienced musicians do Thanks for the replies so far!
15. Welcome to the forum
16. When you play Hendrix stuff do you detune to Eb as Noel did (or so I am led to believe) or do you play it on a 5 string? We now have four Hendrix songs in the set and the Guitarist is thinking of taking an extra guitar along tuned to Eb. Up until now we have played them in standard tuning and they have sounded fine. What are your thoughts? Blademan
17.
The novelty of having a new bass wears off after a few weeks for me and then I start A/B ing the different sounds of my basses. This is all hypothetical at the moment as I have only got my trusty Ibanez Roadstar until I receive my new (to me) Yamaha. Glad to hear you're enjoying the fretless five string Blademan_98 and a pleasure to meet you
It's sounds really mellow through my Orange amp. I bought a low B from the local music shop and will get it fitted today. I will stick with the roundwounds for now as the flats I want cost nearly half as much as the guitar! The misses and kids said it sounds good but could I 'PLEASE TURN IT DOWN'
18. I pratice scales to warm up. Then I run through songs from the current set list and play along to recordings of me playing the songs.... It's all good fun and when it stops being fun I will sell everything and go do something else
19. Welcome to the forum
20.
i think The Tyre Kickers would be a good band name.
Yeah but you would just get an audience that turned up but wasn't really interested in hearing you play.
21. Welcome to BassChat
22. That's reasuring as I love my fretless 4 string but really wanted to see what the fuss of a 5 string was all about. Struggled to put the darned thing down all evening
23. Well, I just bought a bass of here! I PM'd when I saw it and asked if he could wait until today. He said yes but let him know if I changed my mind. I turned up today and was offered to play it through his amp. I paid the money asked for and came away with a BIG grin on my face. I think this forum is great and I spend way too much time on the PC.......
24. I picked up my bass from Megallica today It's got 5 strings and it's fretless. Makes no difference to me it is second hand and only £80. It plays really well and I am now itching to change it to BEADG instead of having a high 'C'. But as I glanced at the other two basses sat in their stands, I did wonder if I really should be a one bass chap. (oh perhaps two as a backup is always good at a gig...) Do you chaps all abandon the existing kit for the new bass? How long before you return to the others? Blademan
25. Change strings......
