1. Glad you decided to keep the gear. I downgraded a few years ago now, and regretted it. It took me ages to get decent gear again. Got a teriffic set up at the moment, plan on keeping this lot for a while.
2. Andrew Ridgley thought he was pretty good in Wham.
3. I sold a Yamaha TRB to Martyn, excellent comms, and we met up to do the deal, very nice guy, and a pleasure to do business with.
4. Kitoff has had an offer of 152.250 Angolan Kwanzo for the bass and has taken the offer. Kitoff say big thank you to all who have shown interest in her late rock god father Ioobe's bass
5. Up for sale is this unique piece of rock history. This is Ioobe Da Knebnecks smashed Podova Bass. Ioobe smashed this bass on his Smokin' Codpieces Tour gig at the Infamous Kingston Hall on February 31st 1982 after an on stage spat with his then wife Spankover Da Knebneck. Although the bass is badly damaged, I'm sure a good luthier could put it back together if the buyer so wished. I'm selling the on behalf of Ioobe's daughter Kitoff da Knebneck. Price is £1425
6. I've just done a trade deal with Sander, absolutely top chat to do business with. The bass arrived exceedingly well packed from Holland and the bass was exactly how Sander described. Thoroughly recommended, pleasure to do business with him.
7.
Or Out to play Jazz. The man spoke wisdom. No not Norman before anyone says! Jez
I've spoke to Rich a few times since he's been awol. He's Ok, just very busy.
8. Been using Status Hotwire rounds for years and found them excellent, but recently tried Warwick Red and Yellow rounds and found them cheap as chips and very good. Also just splashed out on some Warwick ESP's for my streamer, which are superb. I mainly go for medium gauge strings on all my basses.
9.
Was this the Warwick Vampyre example? Or didn't we have one more recently, with the German chap? They stand out, thankfully, because they're so rare!
It was the guy in Germany, it was me with the help of a few other members that resolved this. I went to the guys house, got the bass and then sent it on to Germany. I'm also doing a trade with a member in the Netherlands at the moment. Just arranging courier details to send mine, and he's doing the same his end.
10. Bass now has trade pending Many thanks for all who have showed an interest in this incredible bass.
11. Just got back from our first working mens club gig for years. We normally do pubs. Had Bingo Then us for 45mins Then more Bingo Then us again And guess what, I won a game of bingo, made me an extra £32.50p on top of the £70 I got for the gig. Not exactly rock and roll, but if you can't beat them, join them. We went down really well, us that is, not the Bingo, all the grannies went home after the Bingo finished. And we had a great second set with a packed dance floor.
12.
apparently he's pretty nearly deaf
Pardon
13.
Possible to have big pics?
Big pics added. I'm still the worlds worst photographer though. The pics don't do it justice
14. For Sale or trade a beatuiful Elrick Gold NJS 5 Made in the USA by Rob Elrick in his factory in Chicago. This bass is very light ,great sound and in a mint as new condition. Pickups are Bartolini MM ,Bartolini NTMBF 3 band eq, 9v. Pots are volume (active/passive push/pull), pan, treble, mid (push/pull freq), bass. This bass is extremely Light and has a very confortable neck. The build quality on this is outstanding. I'm after £1500 for it, or please PM me with trade offers, but keep it sensible please. I'm after a 5 or 6 string. 15.
sigh, you should never, NEVER have more knobs than strings.
How many members are there in Iron Maiden then, 5 I think, Oh that's OK then, easily more strings.
16.
Those of a nervous disposition, look away now or you'll puke Basses I'll never own 1) Fenders, floorboards the lot of 'em 2) Overpriced Fender Clones (Sadowkies etc), why pay much more than the real floor boards cost, for the same thing with a different name on the headstock? 3)Musicmans, played loads of them, only ever found 1 that was nice 4) Warwicks, you charge that much for them, and don't even laquer them 5) Singlecuts, lazy Luthiers couldn't be bothered to finish the job 6) Fanned frets, drunk Luthiers shouldn't have finished the job 7) Rickenbackers, my first bass was one, hated the laquered fret board 8) Gibsons, you couldn't throw grabbers away years ago, then that idiot from green day and the one from Nirvana used Gibbo's and they were suddenly a "Must have" Bass 9) Wals...Why? I like Headless basses, I like Sei basses (Except the Fender clones and singlecuts) and I like Statii
Well said that man.
17.
Nothing says "****" like a Status Kingbass, eh? It's no good for metal.
Wronnngg!! A lot of the reason Mark Kings Kingbass sounds the way it does is because he plays with light gauge strings, and obviously he has his "tone" My Kingbass has mediums on it, I play through an Ashdown MK500 amp (Mark King Signature) and Ashdown ABM 4x10 and ABM 2x10 cabs which ain't that far off the rig Mark used to play through. There was that much bottom end coming through the rig at our gig on Friday night the bar staff asked me roll some bass off it as I had brought some glasses and bottles off the shelf behind them through the vibration of the low end. The bass was going straight out, not through the PA. This is with just the eq from the bass as the rig was running flat with no eq. I've had no end of Status basses, and always end up going back to them because I can get any tone I want from them, it's pure tosh that they only produce high end brittle tones, they're great for rock, and metal. Erm Rhino Edwards uses what is more or less an S2 in the Quo, you can't get any more "Rock" than the Quo. Da, Da Da, Da Da, Da Da, Da Da, Da Da
18. Like many bands, Zep and Sabbath brought out some timeless classics as well as some forgetable tosh, it's just the way it is. My all time faves from that era were MK3 Purple with Coverdale and Hughes. You see I am just about at an age where all three were at it hammer and tongue just as I was getting into Rock. The influence all three bands have had on modern rock music is awesome.
19.
I've never wanted a Status because they are for 45 year old men with beer guts who saw Mark King play one. Consequently they must be the most-LED-fingerboarded basses ever made. Sorry to whoever here has a fingerboard festooned with LEDs but seriously what the f*** were you thinking? Do you just LOVE christmas?
That's me then, Mr Santa. My Status S2 has blue front and side LED's and 6 strings, I sometimes use the side led's but rarely the fronts, looks a bit over the top when playing the Frog and Tw*t on a weekend. Also, I've never liked the looks of Warwicks, but ended up buying my Streamer just because a combination of the body colour and the gold hardware just seemed to make the shape work for me. It's got a monster tone as well. I never ever thought I'd end up owning one, but this ones superb.
20. Fender Precisions, don't like them at all, neck's horrible and all you get out of them is a thud. I like me actives me
21. Blimey, this beats the "blokes dead but not dead" abandoned Vintage Fender Jazz yarn. I hope they don't get wind of this on Talkbass, they'll be insisting the buyer for a fiver has a whip round for the bin men.
