1.
I got on with Warwick Reds (£11.50 a set on Stringbusters) on my MIM Jazz. They sounded fine and seemed to last well.
+1 on the Warwick Reds. I've just re strung 2 basses with them and they are really good.
2.
Hi Johngh, I'm very interested in the BB605, the piccy's look very promising so I trust there are no issues: buzzes, nicks, dings etc? However Derby is a little too far north for me the furthest I travel in that direction is March, Wisbech, Peterborough.....at a push! Therefore would you reconsider posting, maybe a box & packing from a local music shop and let me know the total cost? Kind Regards GazzBass
PM'ed
3. At the moment I've got 4, with one up for sale. 2 are on view, the other 2 are hidden on the top of the wardrobe right at the back where her indoors can't see them.
4. I'm only selling mine because I've just bought another 6er
5. Now with photo's type bump
6.
sweet lord above!!! you must state a sale price though matey...
He's right you know, please include a price in your thread.
7.
Hey Andy, I'm not sure exactly what date it is but I know it was built somewhere in the 00s. I think some of the Fender documentation I got with it was dated 2006 but I'm not sure. I bought it brand new in 2009 anyway. If there's an easy of finding out I'll gladly oblige! Hope this helps In terms of ££ I'm only really looking for a trade with a 5-string - I'm after the low B otherwise I'd be keeping the Jazz! Thanks!
Might be an idea if you put some sort of value on the Jazz so folk know what the ballpark £ figure is in terms of a trade bass.
8.
hey is the bass all stock? what is the eq, is it the Nathan East parametric jobby? Ta
Yes the bass is all stock and has just been re strung with Warwick red's. I think I'm right in saying that it's a common myth that these basses come with the Nathan East Pre, which of course they don't. But it's still pretty damm good. Only reason I'm selling is I've just bought a ESP 6er and one of my other basses has got to go. I've also just gone to the camera to take piccies and the batterys are flat, and I'm gigging tonight, So pics will be added in the morning. Sorry
9. I'm selling my Yamaha BB605 5 string. It's in excellent condition and is wine burst with gold hardware. £210. Come's with tatty gig bag. Collection only as I don't want to ship a bass without a case. Or I can deliver if not too far away from Derby for a small contribution in Diesel money. 10. Right guys. Now Geesters got involved in the thread I'm going to leave it open. But I would respectfully suggest that both parties find a solution by PM. If I get up in the morning and the thread's gone down the pan, I'm going to close it. While I personally think it's good that members are warned about deal's gone bad, I don't really want General Bass Discussion turned into an arena for slagging matches about problem deal's.
11. OK. the way I see it is that everyone has had a chance to add their 2p worth. But I think its fair to let Mark have a chance to sort it out with Truckstop and come to some settlement. Some of the facts seem to have been mis interperated and to save any further degeneration I'm going to re lock the thread for the time being. Thanks for your understanding
12.
As I understand it, the guy has bought a bass that he believes not to be genuine but has since traded it on to someone across the other side of Europe
Wrong. From what I understand, it didn't come to light that the body was not genuine until after it was traded. The new owner had it correctly checked out and it was found that the body was from a different year to the neck.
13. I'm no expert in vinage Fenders, as a matter of fact I'm constantly amazed at how much folk a willing to pay for the things, but from what I've seen of the ones for sale on here, the year of manufacture is stamped on many a part on the basses so it should have been easier to authenticate the bass from other parts before it was offered for sale. The moral of the story is if your a trader selling them, get a reliable person to check out the year of manufacture even if you have to take the piggin thing apart. I've no doubt that Mark thought what he was selling was genuine, but it's turned out it's not. I'd have no problem buying from him at all, but customer service speaks volumes, especially when the proverbial hits the fan. I've also done trading with Truckstop and found him to be a really nice genuine guy. I really hope this is brought to a swift conclusion soon.
14.
I'm a big fan of BassDirect but where is the argument? The date on the body says Aug 97 so the rest is tittle tattle unless Mark feels that Alex has added that himself (which I'm sure he doesn't). Refund and resell with new description and everyone is a winner except Mark for a few hundred pounds if it resells for say £450-550 which is a lesson learnt to get the neck off the next one IMO. Why should Alex lose out because Mark didn't do his own detective work? It's not like a solid bridge saddle that should be hollow or similar it's a date stamp. My only tuppence on the matter
+1 It's a no brainer. Goodwill and all that.
15. Ola Claudio, bem vindo. That's about the limit of my written Portuguese. And even that's probably wrong. Welcome to Basschat.
16.
So a suggestion to the mods might well be that as a matter of policy that an item can't be advertised somewhere else for less money? Cheers Mark
Understand what you are saying, but how do you expect the Mods to police it. There has got to be a degree of goodwill on the seller to advertise at a fair price. To be fair, with the amount of stuff that sells on here the mods don't get asked to help out with that many deals that have problems that often. Were happy to help out if we can, but I think a seller can ask for what he want's for an item wherever he want's. If folk think it's too expensive they can always haggle via PM, or look elsewhere.
17. I've bought and sold loads on here, mostly very good experiences. I've bought a few basses untried that have had issues with them though that I've had to repair myself. Nothing too extreme, just the odd dead fret or a dodgy jack plug. That's why from now on, where I can it's going to be try before I buy. If I try it and don't like it then I'm going to pull out of the deal. End of. Also had a definite buyer turn up for a £1200 Status 6er to say he didn't want it after trying due to the neck width being too wide for him. But that's OK, if I'm going to spend that amount of dosh it's got to be spot on and comfortable to play. Also I just had to withdraw my Washburn for sale as the purchase of the bass I was after fell through. At the end of the day, it's a free service. If members want to winge about the hassle of selling stuff for no ad charges then it's up to them. Personally I can't see the point, wherever you try to sell your going to get timewasters. I've yet to see anywhere where there is such a large selection of used bass gear as good as you get on here.
18. Moving this to General Bass Discussion so it don't clog up the for sale section.
19. Locked to avoid thread duplification. Please see main pinned thread at the top of General Bass Discussion for more info.
20. Been in a similar position myself a month ago. I walked and found myself a band where the bass player had left due to work commitments. Got my first gig with them on Friday. To be honest, if they won't commit now, I can't see what difference booking a gig will do, they will still let you down. IMHO.
21. I only delete for sale threads if the OP has edited their thread to such an extent to make it useless if it's left active, deleted all text and photo's for example. Other than that, they stay up.
