Bible basher, along with Jesus freak is used in Australian slang to pertain to a person or group who knock on doors to convert non-Christians. It is also often used to refer to social conservatives in the Bible belt of the Southern United States. The term alludes to a preacher thumping his hand hard down on the Bible to emphasize a point during a sermon. 2. Over the last few years I've had endless £1500 plus basses that I've ended up selling including Status, Alembic, Sei, Shuker. The Status basses and the Shuker were superb but I've always had the urge to try other basses to get the perfect bass. After all this fannying about, I've ended up with a 75 re issue MIJ Jazz and a Washburn XB600 6 string bass. I ended up with the Washburn by doing a trade on a MIM Jazz, I turn up at band rehearsal with the Washburn for the first time and immediately everyone comments on how nice it sounds. It stands me at about £250, it looks great, sounds great and if it gets knocked about at a gig it's not going to give me heart failure, and all for £250. After trying endless boutique basses I will get another 5 sting Status at some point, either a Kingbass or a S2. And once that is done, I would like to think that will be that, as I've tried most other stuff and didn't get on with them.

 4. I hate Mustang Sally with a passion. I won't play it or be in a band that want's to play it. A lot of punters are sick of hearing it. Just joined an amazing covers band with the best set list I had a chance to play in years. And no MS.

 6.
.. there are now 2 listings for this bass in the for-sale section ....
I've now locked the other one and edited the title of this one. Makes it tidy like.
 7. I used to have a similar problem at gigs where I was always told I was too loud. all I used to do was roll the bottom end off a bit and it was OK. Didn't change the tone too much but took a lot of the boominess out of the sound.
 8. Good luck with the sale. I had one of these more or less identical to this one and like a twonk I sold it. Don't make the same mistake !
 9.
Didn't you notice they were a bit fishy when you bought them? Yeah, I know... can I get my coat before I do though?
Buying basses blind mate. Never do it now. Always travel to meet up and check them out now.
 10. I have a 75 re-issue MIJ Jazz that I sold like an idiot and managed to get back. The only way that one would now get sold would be if I lost my job and had mortgage to pay or get kicked out, have to be last resort though. I've had a few basses that I thought would be keepers, but it just never turned out that way. Also had a few basses that turned out to be kippers, but that's another story.

 12.
But it's ok to flame the 0.1% then? In your view?
Only if folk want to turn up on the forum just to cause trouble by posting offensive comments. In my view.
 13. I guess the way this thread will end up will be a classic example of exactly why a lot of name players don't sign up to the forum and share their views with us. They will just get flamed by the 0.1% of trolls on here. Soz, just my view of it.
 14.
PS I am actually Rolf Harris.
With that hurricane thingy blowing on your shores at the mo you'd better tie yer kangeroo down sport. Sorry
 15. Suppose it depends on what level of "professional" you are at. If your at Nathan East level, you can probably be picky. If your a jobbing pro your not going to turn down a 2 month stint playing panto if the money's right just because you don't like screaming kids. Are you?
 16. I was only thinking yesterday this was about ready to make another appearance.
 17. The Someone You have a PM. Please answer it. This thread will remain closed until you do.
 18. At the moment any drummer who can play a mellow tune the way it should be played instead of thinking he's playing Ace of Spade's by Motorhead all the time. Yes its that bad. Other than that Neil Peart.
 19.
Playing in situations like a church service helps you develop your improvisation skills, your professionalism and your ability to work under pressure. No wonder some of the guys playing in church in the US are in demand session guys! They've had a life time of playing the bass in those kind of situations.
Couldn't agree more. I played in a church group for a couple of years. The musical director was right on the money week in and week out. She would issue a song list that was useless as she'd very often just improvise away from it a lot of the time, even halfway through tunes. If you didn't have a sharp ear and be able to follow you were soon found out. It was excellent training in being able to improvise. I don't read music or Tab, all learning tunes for me is done by ear which has stood me in good stead over the years. I played at some very large meetings and was invited to play at some big events in London as a result of being able to go with the flow and be able to improvise. Nowhere near Sharay's level though !
 20.
I want those dimensions in my hands. I just do.
bet you say that to all the girls ! Look, your a tool, OK. Don't sell the Warwick for silly money for a Fender. It's not worth it. Within weeks you'll be on here moaning about it, that you've been a silly boy.
 21. I'm looking for a established covers band in the Derby / Notts area. I can learn tunes / sets, super quick. I have top class gear and am reliable. Also have own transport. Looking to gig about 3 times per month. Anything considered, but no originals please. Unless you happen to be Brian Culbertson or Steve Vai. Also, don't want to be rehearsing forever with no gigs at the end of it. And please, no timewasters. Please PM if you have anything.

 23. Just find it ironic that a thread is started about someone getting dissed on Talkbass and our opinions on it, then the dude ends up getting dissed on here as well.
 24.
I think there's some hypocrisy going on. It seems fine to slag off all and sundry UNTIL they become a member of your favourite bass forum, then all slagging is off limits. For instance one has to be careful of what one says about Janek Gwizdala, Dave Marks, etc. because even though these players are in the public domain and therefore open to all kinds of positive, negative and indifferent criticism, they are members of this community and the moderators will take it ill if you write any negatives. I hope Alain Caron doesn't sign up on Basschat for instance
Hiya Nige, hope your OK mate. You make some valid points in your post. From my own perspective as a mod, and it is my own perspective. I think that the likes of Janek, Dave etc have a great deal to offer basschat members if they were free to comment without getting flamed all the time. There would be some excellent advice on gear or playing styles for example. As a forum member I've always felt it's a shame that some of the more prominent players probably stay away from posting on the forum for the fear of getting flamed. I fully understand that as Pro's they are in the public domain etc and open to criticism, which is fair enough. but I sometimes think it's at our great loss to us that a lot of them don't come on here. I alway's work under the opinion that just because I think something is brilliant, others will think it's crap. Such is life. At least most of the Pro's don't end up playing the Frog and Tw*t every week.
