It's not is it? The Marcus thing was just a good bit of banter wasn't it?
Nobody is saying it wasn't "good banter" But it was good banter by a member who already had an account. If we let one member have two accounts then everybody is at it and using them to snipe at members who have flamed them in threads, then it gets out of hand etc. It's as simple as that.
I've scanned through the whole thread and can't believe (unless I've missed it) that no-one has mentioned the most abominable mis-use of a bass guitar in its long, distinguished history. I speak of the ding-a-ding-a-chucka-chuka-meep-meep bollix that was the 80's and fecking Level 42 in particular. What the bejesus was that all about? Summed up that decade perfectly, all style and panache over any kind of musical relevance. Awful, just awful, and what is worse it gave birth to a whole generation of so-called 'bassists' who to this day go ding-a-ding-a-chucka-chuka-meep-meep in music shops up and down the country (the urge to strangle the spotty nerds trying out a bass who break into some ding-a-ding-a-chucka-chuka-meep-meep is overwhelming). If you want some wacky, off-the-wall noises then get a bloody synth player. Rant over.
I tell you have a great taste in music by the dimwit in your avvie.

It's always hard to know what to post in these circumstances. Si was one of the true gents of the forum. A lot of the help and advice he gave us all was priceless. He will be greatly missed. RIP Si.

When I was a kid, Slade were massive and I was a huge fan. Then I went around to my mates one night and he played me the Machine Head album by Deep Purple. Also Seeing Level 42 on Sight and Sound in concert on BBC2. Never really saw a bass being played like that before then. Brilliant.

If a lot of us had half the talent that Myung has we'd all be better players. I can't see what the problem is. +1 for Adam Clayton by the way. Oh and Tony Levin and his mates with all this Chapman Stick tomfoolery.

Our spaniel "Benny" decided to take a p*ss on the side of my Hartke cab the other day if that's any good. Sorry I haven't got a photo of the offence taking place.

To be fair the bass player is really very good. I wish someone would take the microphone off the singer playing the acoustic guitar though, god it's painful. What's that bird in the black dress and hat doing.
3500 here as well - my first real bass amp, bought from a forumite here earlier this year. Sounds great to me, though I'd really like a lightweight 2X10 to play it through, rather than a 1X15.
I have 2.5xl and a 1x15xl Hartke Cabs that go with my 3500. Great play anywhere rig.

I've got one exactly the same. It's brilliant. In a way I think they do themselves out of selling more gear as I sometimes think of trading for something else, but this amp performs everywhere I use it. It's never let me down, so I can't see why I should change it.

For sale is my immaculate G&L L2500 tribute 5 string. As you can see it's natural with maple board and is in mint condition. Absolutely fantastic instrument. Awesome value for money. I'm selling it as I have chance to buy back a bass I sold a while ago. Price is £350 inc hard case

Freddie was unique, there will never be anyone like him. John did the right thing not touching Queen with Rodgers. I knew it would end up being a farce with them doing a Paul Rodgers greatest hits turn. Strewth. As for his bass playing he was brilliant, always right in the pocket. Never over playing, never underplaying.

Welcome to the forum. Don't worry we all go through this. I seem to be changing at least one bass per month at the moment.
Everyone has their own way of dealing with such situations. Myself, I wouldn't have blanked the guy in this situation, because he probably wouldn't have made the connection - he'd just think that you were a grumpy old git, and nothing has been achieved. I'd be more likely to respond to "alright mate" with "I hear you don't think much of my tone or equipment. Shall we talk about that?" Watch, and delight, as he backpedals furiously. "Nah mate, not that I don't like it, nothing wrong with it, I just don't think it's for me, burble burble burble..." Alternatively, maybe he actually does know more than you, and you might learn something. S.P.
+1 I'd have confronted him no question. Kind of friendly like, but I would have asked how he came to his opinion, then tore it to pieces. I left a band a few weeks ago after the drummer quit. The band asked me to stay on until we found another drummer which I declined. We were a tribute act. Anyway, I check on to a certain "name" bands website forum and the guitarist who asked me to stay on was slagging me and the drummer off for leaving, and one or two forum members were posting their "opinion's" on the subject until I pointed out that one of the said muso's was me. I said my bit on the forum thread and funnily enough it went quiet after that. To be honest the word "opinion" is my most hated word in the English language. Yes you can have your opinion, but I don't have to agree with it. I can't abide people who think that their opinion is gospel and go mad if other disagree with it. Personally I'd take no notice of his opinion of my tone or gear for that matter, if I'm happy with it and the band don't complain then so what.

Apparently, he's now about 17 years old and is Jay'Z's drummer according to the other links from the original one.

Recently bought a bass from John. No hassle deal and arrived packed up all nice and snug. Top Guy. Highly recommended.

Graphite necks all the way. I've lost count of the times I've bought Fenders/Musicmans that cost a LOT of money, only for them to have dead spots in them. The only wooden neck that I've found to be 100% stable is my Shuker 6er. Jon put graphite rods in the neck when it was built. Super stable neck, super low action. It's an absolute killer bass. I've just had a very nice offer on it if I decide to sell, but I think she's a keeper. I've also had numerous Status basses, and all have been brilliant.
