1. Chris, great photo's mate. If they cost you nothing its even better. If you only use them to promote the band on venue flyers they are bound to draw interest.
2. Kiwi Just read you comments about the sound of you bass. I know you liked mine which is very similar to your's when you played it and mine has EMG's. Might be an option ? John
3. I decided not to renew my subscription this time. I'm happy with the gear I have and didn't find enough in it to keep me interested in the mag. Just my opinion though !
4. Phil Lynott Glenn Hughes Roger Glover But the daddy is Geddy. He's played a miriad of basses over the years and had different bass sounds, and none have been sh*te, and his bass lines have always been impeccable
5. This Bass is a Precision Copy and was bought by a mate of mine who wanted to start to learn Bass but got bored ! So its up for sale. Its black with a white scratch plate and ebony neck and is a 4 string. Photo will follow tomorrow. It has a few small marks on the back, but nothing to serious. It might suit someone who wants a project bass to fanny about with. I've no idea what its worth so we'll start at £70 plus p&p. It comes with a Bass Centre gig bag, and if it don't sell through this thread I will take it to the Notts Bass Bash and try to sell it there. Please feel free to PM offers.
6. Should be there this time. Gear list will include. Shuker 6 string headless Status S2 Classic 6 string headless Fender Jazz MIJ 75 re-issue Hartke HA 350 head Hartke 2.5 XL Cab Hartke 1x15 XL Cab
7. You can have all the theory you want, but if havnt got the ability to put it into practice, its a waste of time to a degree.
8.
So you'll be looking for a talentless bloke who has trouble clapping in time and never looks at the camera when he knows it's on him then. P
Ha Ha priceless !
9. Another one to try is partysounds.co.uk I know they have listings of bands looking for bass players in that area
10. Geddy and Geezer. Geddy never plays anything simple, good innit !
11. I was at Jon's on the 22nd of December to pick my Fender Jazz that he'd worked on for me. I was dying to ask him for a look at Lil' Doodle and also Kiwi's bass, but I decided against it, if he'd offered though I would have taken him up on it. Can't wait to see these two. I played my Shuker 6er headless yesterday, it is sooooo sweet and by far the best Bass I have ever owned.
12. It was Phil Lynott and Glenn Hughes that inspired me to take up Bass ages ago. He was a good songwriter as well. I really need to get over the water to visit his grave and pay my respects. Thanks for the great tunes Phil.
13. Hi Jon I'm from Derbyshire as well. I think you can't go far wrong with a Squire Jazz, and a nice little practice combo for starters. Check out the Basses for sale section on the forum though, there are some decent bargains to be had there. Cheers John
14.
Well worth a look on Sky if you like the Lizzy or are even intrigued as to what they were like live. Sound isn't the best and looks a bit out of synch (but my Sky+ sometimes does that anyway!). Also fun to see the opening few minutes with the truck arriving at the Rainbow & getting the gear set up. My favourite London large venue for many years. Saw loads of great gigs there. I go past it frequently and always feel that it seems such a waste to have it sitting there as a venue for a pretty obscure religious movement!
Lizzy were the absolute best, Lynott was one of the best showmen ever and always had the crowd eating out of his hand whenever I saw them. Lynott and Glenn Hughes were the two most influential peole that got me to take up bass way back when. Nothing wrong with UCKG though !
15.
But I lack the maturity to just say "not my cup of tea". When I heard that clip I honestly thought it was one of those comedy vids where its overdubbed by someone making random noise. It's so self-indulgent it makes me want to climb a bell tower with a high-powered rifle.
Not climb a bell tower and holler "Esmerelda"
16.
Great stuff. Me and the clown are looking forward to it.
Thats you not getting anything for Xmas
17.
Cool, any particular day (sat or sun) or weekend good for you?
Saturdays the best for me, but I can do a Sunday if that's how it has to be.
18. I'm gonna try my best to make his one as well
19. I've never had any bother from anyone on Basschat. But I do have some general golden rules. 1 is I never buy anything if I can't try it. 2 No bass gear I buy is sent to me through the post, I always collect, or if needed meet up with the seller half way between their home and mine, it only normally costs a little more in fuel that the post cost would be anyway, and I get my new purchase NOW !. 3 I don't buy ANYTHING from e bay over £50, too many rip off tales. Also if I'm selling anything I will offer to meet halfway with the buyer so that he can see the goods. All this restricts me a bit in terms of what I can buy / sell, but it works for me.
20. I've got to say that my Shuker 6 is unbelievable in terms of build quality, playability and wow factor, its got side LED's and totally exceeded my expectations. Jon built it exactly as I wanted it. It was a long wait but well worth it. For the spec, it was very cheap as well.
21. I've got a S2 headless 6 if thats any good, you are welcome to try that.
22.
The bass to the far left in JohnGH's pic is a Status-Graphite S2-Classic bolt-on six in satin cocobolo. I've loved that bass ever since he got it! May get a similar one next year.
You are absolutely bang on, I had it made earlier this year. Sorry for not getting back Fumps, I've been away a couple of days. The Status with the green LED's has been sold.
23. I have 2 - 6 string headless basses and they are brilliant, one Shuker, the other Status. They both look and sound great.
