1. Just because there has been one or two dodgy threads doesn't mean that the forum has lost "its soul" I think the moderators do a fine job on the whole. There are a whole bunch of artists I can't stand to listen to, much to the point if they come on the radio, I turn it off. But to say I hate them is a bit over the top. The forum will only degenerate if we allow it to, the Mods can't police the place 24/7. Fact if, if there are dodgy posts that you find objectionable, just ignore them. Merry Xmas !
2. Supported Def Leppard once when the booked support band pulled out at short notice. And.............................supported Bernie Flint......The guy that won Opportunity Knocks for weeks on end...he had some nice tales about Monica Rose !
3. Its got to be my Status S2 Classic 5er, I bought it new direct from Status 7 years ago and its been brilliant.
4. Oh no ! not again ! Thats the best JD I've ever seen.
5. Kingbass Artist for sale. 4 string thru neck artist including blue front and side LED's. 16.5 string spacing and it has a Walnut body and Rosewood top. I'll post some decent pics up later. There are pics of it in the Bass Porn section under LED Zeppelins ! Only reason for sale is that its a 4 string where as I normaly play 5's or 6 sting basses now. Please PM with sensible offers, I don't need to sell it, and I won't let it go for silly money. I will trade but only for a 5 string Kingbass.
6.
I used to have a Hartke 2.5XL and a Hartke 115XL. Nice combination of cabs. Used to run them with a Gallien-Krueger 400RB, then later through a Warwick Quadruplet preamp through a QSC RMX850. My favourite 'normal' cab is the Hartke 2.5XL.
I bought the Hartke 2.5XL and Hartke 115XK from "The Funk" and they sound MASSIVE ! I had the Transporter 2x10 and 1x15 cabs for years before that and they were brilliant, but the XL range is far better. I've always used a Hartke HA3500 amp that has been super reliable. Although I seem to be swapping basses every 5 minutes, my Harke amplification is another matter, it's super reliable always performs no matter what the venue.

8.
Love your Statiis, John! That S2 of yours is a real looker! Hang onto them Just sold my KingBass V to Ian - Picking up my new S2-classic in walnut on Thursday. Coming full circle, really. I had a series 2 for 16 years & still miss it! I was looking at the Kingbass you bought - How're you finding the 16.5mm string spacing?
The S2 shape is an all time classic IMHO, I can never see me parting with it, I bought it new 7 years ago and its still mint. The 16.5 string spacing is fine on the Kingbass, its really nice to play, I just wish it had one more string !
9.
MB1. Gas Attack!....... Heading Johnghs Way!.......
MB1 Straight down the M1, off at Jct 28 and then third turning off the roundabout, I'll get the kettle on ! Good luck with the sale mate, Jon's basses are great, highly recommended !
10.
MB1. Yeah Right!..... this guys seen more gas than Gaviscon!..... Ladies and Gentlemen, your bets please!
Place you bets with MB1, he's out to loose a mint !
11. Here are my 2 Status Basses. My S2 Classic 5er in Burmadrone and my newly aquired Kingbass in Rosewood.
12.
Give me Norman Watt Roy over Mark King anyday ;-) (awaits flames...)
No flames, but a little smoke. Mark King is one of the few players that did more to show Joe Public that the Bass can be played in this way than anyone else. Most people think that Bass is just there there to go bum de bum de bum !!!!! Mark changed that, and I think he was also responsible for inspiring a lot of people to take up bass who maybe would never have bothered. Never got into Victor Wooten and I never will. Marcus Miller is a different matter though, pure class. Same goes for Norman Watt Roy.
13.
Enjoy John!
I will mate, thanks a bunch !
14. Well, in keeping with me changing my mind like the wind changes direction, I've ended up buying Angelboys Kingbass. So the S2 6er will have to wait until next year.
15. I'm sure that lack of xmas dosh may be a reason for things not selling, but everybody said there was a lack of dosh because of holidays in the summer. Fact is I've sold 3 basses on here and bought 2 since August, because I've been realistic in prices I've wanted for what I've sold. Also as a buyer, if you have wad in pocket you can sit back and wait until what you are after pops up. I also think that before sites like this popped up, you were hard pushed to get your mits on exotic stuff unless you bought new or paid silly dealer 2nd hand prices. There always seems to be a healthy supply of most basses on here at any one time, so a buyer can barter between the seller to get the best deal. The big hit is when you buy a new Sei for example at 2000 plus and then try to sell, you will always suffer a huge loss when selling on from something you bought new, the same with cars, its just the way it is. If something pops up that I want, I always manage to find the dosh from somewhere !
16. Si That looks fantastic mate, great choice. Enjoy John
17. I'm ordering a Status S2 Classic headless 6er. I've got the headless bug big time, so I recon it will go well with the new Shuker Headless 6er. Top wood will be Cocobolo I think. It should look like this one below, but I'm having blingy gold hardware. More details will follow as I decide on the final spec. They also have a one of a kind Mertlewood top one nearly finished, which means I will get it before xmas . I can't go through the torture of a 8 month built time wait again that I had with the Shuke.
18. Phil Lynott Geddy Lee Glenn Hughes Mark King Jack Bruce John Wetten
19.
I know it sounds vain, but is this the all black version of the DTR and how old is it? Can you get hold of a manual, don't mind if it's printed... it's just i've never used a rack mount tuner before so it would be helpful.
You can pull the manual for the tuner off the Korg website and print it off.
20. The Sei is now sold. Thanks to all who showed an interest. John
21. I've now added a pick of the back by request.
22. I've updated the original post to include exact pup type and preamp type, I will also include photos of the back and the revised pot configuration when I get chance tonight.
