Ive got my 9

Cripes I have all on with 6, where's the button to deploy the parachute !
  2. I've got Kingbass GAS now, and going through a headless phase so, I'm putting my Sei Flamboyant 6er up for sale. Its got Bartolini P4 pups and Aguilar OBB3 3 band preamp, I also think it has 35" scale ( If some can tell me how to measure it correctly I will be happy to do it ! )and has a gig bag. Its also just been re-fretted by Jon Shuker, and it plays like a dream. It is in mint condition. I also asked Jon Shuker to put me a pot on the body to make it 3 band EQ instead of 2 band as I could not see the point in having the control for the mid stuck inside the body of the bass ! The bass is mint, and being as Sei have put up their prices , not to mention the year long wait, you can have this one NOW ! As per normal Johngh selling terms ! I will deliver up to a reasonable distance from Derby for free ! I'm not open to trades except for a Status Kingbass. Please PM with offers.
  3.
At the moment I've only tried it though a 60Watt fender practice amp so it's difficlut to say. Jon's got my P-Bass at the moment so I can't make a direct comparison. I would say they are very similar, maybe a bit more punch. I've got a practice on thursday with my full rig, so I'll let you know then.
Glad you got back OK and hear that you are enjoying the bass, it was good to meet you at Jon's on Saturday
  4.
I don't suppose you snapped a pic or two?
Sorry mate no, Jon told me to take a look. so I just had a quick peek. The extractor fans were on full tilt in the spray booth and I didn't want to disturb all the "magic" going on so I shut the door again sharpish. I didn't have me camera anyways and tho one on me phone is crap ! Its worth waiting for the finished article now anyway Si, not be long
  5.
Picking up on Tuesday 27th .. haven't even seen a pic yet That Jon, eh?
For what its worth Si, I was up at Jons today and saw the body of your bass hung up in the spray booth, it looks stunning !
  6. Ste, Chuffed to bits you are going ahead with the midi headless, and with birdseye neck as well, its going to look a beaut. I will check this out with great interest.
  7.
John, I gotta ask you the same question as I did to Pete.. How you getting on with your Shuker chap?
Dan, Its brilliant in every way I'm very pleased with it. I've also upgraded my rig to Hartke 1x15XL and 2.5XL cabs, and thats tightened up the bottom end and gave a crispy top end as well. They have really brought out the best of the Shuker. Jon's had a big poster made that features it that will be on display at Bassday tomorrow, I can't make it, but he has promised to give me the poster next weekend when I'm up at the workshop again to pick up the Sei.
  8. And here are photos from when I owned it !
  9. Congrats Pete, she's turned out to be a gem, not unlike the original "Lady T" no doudt !
  10. Pete, looks brilliant mate, its going to be a worthy member of the Shukerlele family. Can't wait to see it finished.
  11. For what its worth, I tried out with these guys a couple of weeks ago, they are a great bunch, but I had to turn it down because it looks like I'm moving away from the area. I told Ryznar to try here, if any of you can help out, give it a try. John
  12.
Hi I have just found out that ABM makers of headless hardware have shut there doors. The owner has died and they are trying to find a buyer for the company without much luck from what I can gather. This will effect the supply of headless units unless ETS up there production. Unfortunately there is also some doubt to wither ETS is still a going concern.. I don't know where John gets his hardware from but I think this will have a knock on effect on the availability of this hardware for sometime. Not sure but I think that Status get ABM to build their single string bridge/tuner units. I could be total wrong on this so please correct me if you know different. Alan p.s. Really like that bass. Love the whole headless idea I have never known why more people don't like them.
Alan, I think you are right about Status getting their hardware from ABM. Jon contacted Status about supplying him with some tuners to finish my bass, but Rob was reluctant to part with any. I know Jon is talking to other suppliers, so all is not lost. Glad you like my bass, she sounds great. John
  13.
From my experience the Aguilar OBP3 preamp is anything but transparent, it has a massive mid range hump, I'm amazed that someone ordered this bass with just a 2 band preamp, having the mid control inside makes no sense at all to me.
It seemed a bit odd to me as well. Jon Shuker is going to fit me a mid pot on the body, so I will see how I go with it once it comes back. Then decide if I change the preamp or pups. I've only just caught up with the thread, home internets been down for a couple of days. Many thanks for all the advice !
  14. +1 for Hiscox. I Have 2 and they are both brilliant. Another one will soon be on order.
  15. I'm selling my Hartke 2x10 TP and 1x15 TP Cabs. These cabs are in very good condition, with only slight marks on the plastic corners. They are both in perfect working order. They have served me well, but now its time to update. Price is £160 for both. I may split, but I would prefer to sell them both together. I will also include FREE delivery within 50 miles of Derby if they are both purchased together. Photos will be up later today. Please PM if you are interested, thanks.
  16.
Not got mine yet, still being built. But already I can vouch for him and his instruments. Every one of them I've played at his workshop has played like absolute butter, flawless playability - as you'd expect for a custom instrument. There's a 5 string he had in last time as just a stock instrument - strung as a tenor, and gawd, I nearly changed my mind from my custom to buy that on the spot o_O And good value. Okay, my seven string is a bit above the average price, but to get what is basically a custom Jazz bass for (correct me if I'm wrong) a very competitive price with an off the shelf MIA Jazz ain't too shabby. The electronics aren't anything special unless you ask for them to be And sometimes you just don't need anything magical to get a good sound. He's also a tremendous chap. He always finds time for his customers, he's incredibly helpful with designing the instruments from scratch and telling you what will and won't work. It's all just attention to detail. Plus he lives like 45 mins from me on the bus I dunno, that's just my view on it all. Anyone else?
+ 1 on that, My 6 headless is superb. I played Dood's 7er at the last Bass Bash, and that was it. I ordered mine a month later. They are excellent basses for the money, the build quality is second to none, plus Jon's a great chap to work with, full of ideas and suggestions to make your instrument even more special. I can't recommend him enough. I'm thinking of having a Jazz made now, I'm going to get a price off him, and see how we go. It's going to look like Geddy's red un ! 17. Have a Monday morning bump on me. This bass is in as new condition. It was owned by me from new. Anyone thinking of moving onto a 6er should give this bass some serious though. Its a terrific Bass for the money.
  18. Just had these taken.

  20.
You paid for a Sei and it isn't good enough?
Yes and No ! the Sei was bought 2nd hand. Been up to Jon's today and it will be sweet as a nut when he's done with it.
  21. Mike, that is a very nice addition to the Shukerlele club I told Jon last week I was on about having a Jazz built, yours has set me off now ! Congrats, let us know how you get on with it at the gig.
  22.
MB1. Dreaded deadspots again eh? a nice Status with a carbon graphite neck should solve that dilemma!and will probably work out cheaper in the long run!
I've already got a nice Status with carbon graphite neck, and pretty lights on it too. Its proving to be the best bass I've got at the moment.
  23.
Yes we're gigging in Castleford but, due to the Rugby Final, we'll go on at 10.00 and play straight through until 12.15.
I was wondering what time you would be going on, I was coming up to see a few friends from when I was with the band. I should have a good run up being as half the country will be watching the Rugby. P.S I hate Rugby as well !
