1. Because of the imminent arrival of my new Shuker 6, I'm thinking of selling my Status Eclipse 6 String. It is an Artist model with graphite neck, it has a Walnut front, not sure what wood is on the back. I might also be tempted to trade for a high end 4 string Bass. 2. RUSH - No question, I've been a fan ever since 2112, and how they get the sound they do live with just 3 of them is amazing, yes I know there are a lot of samples triggered by foot control etc, but its still impressive. Geddy is amazing, and makes it look a piece of piss, which its not !
3. Precision Copy ! Westone Thunder 2 Aria SBR600 Ibanez Destroyer Kramer aluminium neck thingy ! 4.
Check out http://www.xs4all.nl/~mp2004/bp/ for a very handy, free, change pitch/speed program.
Brilliant, I had no idea this program existed, just downloaded it and am busy learning YYZ by Rush, thanks a million for this. I practice with a small Peavey combo, the gig rig is too much for our humble dwelling !
5.
Goodness me, that would have been tragic! Can you imagine, all those nearly finished basses floating away... i dread to think actually!
I dread to think as well, being as one of the nearly finished Basses would have been mine. I should have been visiting Jons tomorrow (Friday) to see the bass, but obviously, I've cancelled the visit. Jon has told me that the workshop has been dried out, but he is expecting the worst as another deluge has been forecast for this weekend. He's not moving anything back in until he gets the all clear. Its set my build back a week, but so what, only 3 weeks now until she's done !
6. Red Barchetta - Rush Save a Prayer - Duran Duran
7. A drummer and guitarist in Leicester are looking for a bass player to form a Rush tribute, If you are interested, please PM me and I will pass on contact details.
8.
Mate, I don't know if that's incredibly stupid & reckless or incredibly brave!
Rich, probably a mixture of all three. Fact is she's after us buying a caravan of all things ! so whats the priority, a nice new Shuker, or a Caravan........no contest methinks the planning of smuggling and hiding the Shuker in the house is already at a advanced stage, as are the million and one excuses once I get found out.
9. I'm off to Jons on Friday to see the progress on "Blondie" if you are having a Shuker made at the mo, and would like photos, I will see what I can do to accomodate. Please PM me with details so as not to clutter up this thread.
10. Neil Murray - Whitesnake etc Sean Walsh - The Beautiful South The guy that played with Lone Star ( Firing on all six)
11.
Good gracious! Thats quick!! I really do look forward to seeing this bass, as you know John!
I have asked Jon for more Photos, but I'm going to see him a week this Friday, so thats probably my best bet to get photos of the bass. I can't wait to see the thread of your new bass Dan, hope it turns out to be an epic like the Doodle build . Mines not been that quick to be honest, this has been going on for 6 months, although in fairness I did tell Jon to take his time with it. Best bit is the wife still has no idea I'm having it made, if she gets wind of it, it will be time for one of her Latina nuclear strikes, when her head goes its megga, so I'm staying shtum about it. I'm going to tell her it was a bargain special from evil bay !
12. I'm available for any established covers - tribute band. I'm also willing to travel for the right band. Please PM with any offers......Cheers - John
13. Great news, just come off the phone with Jon, the Bass will be ready in 3 weeks time. Its going to be bad now, so close yet so far !
14. I have always thought that the Squire Jazz is an excellent beginner Bass. Whatever you get though, make sure its set up right
15. Here are more photo's of "Blondie" thanks to Tinman, cheers mate. The Leds are going to be 3 way switchable, Off, Low and er Full Beam ! Really nice photo from above as well, I can't wait until she's finished. We are giging every weekend now, so when the Bass is done she will be gigged straight away. Woo Hoo !!!! As you will have all gathered by now, I'm sh*te at downloading photos, a million pardons.
16.
I have a particular interest in Johns buid diary. I hope you don't mind John, but you are helping me get ideas together for a Shuker headless! I'm getting a plan together, but I wont be starting until my Elite 6 has been despatched in a month or 2. I think I'll go for a singlecut headless, as per the designs I posted on ..well.. was it bassworld? it was sooo long ago!! The pictures are looking great. This bass is gonna be a cool one!
Dood, it was you that got me going on the idea of having a Shuker made in the first place after letting me loose on "The Doodle", I like to see build threads so much, its great to pool all the ideas together from everyone to make up your dream Bass. x
17. I can't wait for the ban to come into effect in England. I don't mind people smoking at all, as long as they try to keep it to themselves. But I'm tired of playing every weekend and coming home and having me and all my gear stink of fags, including my speaker cabs and even the bloody guitar strap. Plus our vocalist even puffs on cigars during set up and sound check, which is even worse !
18.
Looking good - Was this the neck I took a picture of a while back? on the left hand side? I'm interested in the different positioning of the graphite rods with the two necks. Anyway, looking great - I was the same with mine towards the end, I kind of wanted a surprise when I went to collect it! Good luck! Rich
Rich Yes thats the one. I went on holiday, came back, and the build had come on leaps and bounds. The build thread has not been as detailed as I had hoped. So I recon the next lot of photos will be when its done. Unless fellow Basschatters go to Jon's and take and post photo's
19.
Did you want me to take some photos of the progress for you? If so PM me with your details and I'll get some when I go to see Jon on Saturday.
Tinman, many thanks, but I recon the next time I want to see it, it will be when its finished.
20. This thread was started on Bassworld, continued on Basstalk and is now on here ! The spec is Bassically this (no pun) 6 string headless Quilted maple top in high gloss finish ( Jon says the finish will be that good it will seem you can put your hand in it ! ) 5 piece maple thru neck with maple birdeye fingerboard. White ash body. Black veneer between top and body and neck and body sides. Black AMB Headless system with monorail tuners. EMG 45P and 45 TW Pups Shuker 3 band board Red Side LEDS As for the scale, I'm taking in my Status Eclipse Graphite neck six string for John to base the neck on that, don't ask me the scale as I havent got a clue, I only play it ! I'm in no great hurry to have it finished, I've just told Jon to take his time with it. Here are the photos so far
