1. oh balls, sorry, just realised I can't do the 17th Sorry guys, if we want to use my place on a Saturday it's the 31st or August is out. Sundays I could do the 11th. I shan't be offended if you stick with the original Burslem plan, and hopefully I'd be able to free up an hour to come and meet some BCers.
2. haha, don't worry, I won't record everything and put it up on soundcloud for the whole of BC to laugh at
3. I had an opening on Friday, there were at least 30 people in there comfortably which I guess is more than would come to this?
4. I can't do the 10th but could make the 17th I wonder if it might be worth doing it at my recording studio? It's a bit further out than Burslem at ST7 1PW but I have a huge collection of pedals, drum kit, and could always record a jam... Just a suggestion
5. I can bring a guitar or two, if I'm free for the date
6. If I'm free I'll come, I have a lot of gigs on Sundays though
7. doesn't sound right to me at all, you shouldn't need to true-bypass the boss pedals. Have you tried them on batteries? When you wire them back up are you swapping around patch leads? It's worth checking all your patch leads as well as different power options. I like the ODB-3, for massive low end it's perfect.
8. Cool, I'll do my best to do a quick mix by Sunday and get it to you Monday morning. I'm opening my studio Friday night so hopefully I'll be too busy :-p
9. Still not loaded the stems for this, I don't think I'll manage sorry, when's the deadline? This is what I've been busy with:
10. I have two of these, they're ace!

I bought a Behringer compressor from Mark. Like a well made cheese sauce this transaction was extremely smooth and very tasty. Cheers Mark!
12. Yeh I would have the mid level all the way down. Sweep from the bottom to the middle of the range to find the right cut. It should only take a second or two. Deffinitely have the low cut engaged. I wouldn't bother boosting lows.
13. ouch, 3 hours of listening to country music and 0 votes Nevermind, I didn't like my mix on re-listening. Well done to the winners! I'll try harder this month.
14. I would prefer to have a "flat" amp and cab set-up, and then a nice big graphic EQ to get lots of different sounds. If you buy a new amp every time you want a different sound, you have too much money
15.
EQ with your ears and not with your eyes.
Yes, FFS your eyes are for seeing, your ears are for listening! I'm so sick of people trying to judge sound by looking. I did a little test on myself when mixing the other week. I wanted a high pass filter to cut out any unnecessary subs. I put the filter on but I was convinced I could hear it, even though it should be mostly below what I can actually hear. So, I got a friend to turn it off and on while I closed my eyes - I had no idea when it was on or off!
16. I've had very little time - can't listen at work - so I listened on my mixing set-up (NS10 copies and a sub) and my TV. The three best were obvious on both systems, but I'm not sure E was one of them. I just kept listening to a bit of the intro, then skipping to a loud chorus.
I don't understand how saying his mix is "too good" amongst a bunch of rookies is harsh? I didn't want to vote for the pro, because I thought the hobbyist might appreciate the vote more.
I just thought we should be voting for the best mix, and it should be anonymous... I guess the voting is as subjective as the mixing!
17.
I deliberately didn't vote for Simon's mix, because it was too good
That's a bit harsh, I hope you're joking!
18. OK, just voted, no idea if it's mine or not, I just kept comparing the mixes and chose my favorite. There were 3 that sounded great for me
19. I haven't had chance, moving house at the moment but will do my best to vote tonight. I hope I can tell which one mine is (and it sounds the best!) I'm deffinitely happy to handle the uploading any time, even though i'm very busy, I can do it from work, just set up a queue at the end of the day and upload over night while no-one's here.
20. I don't mind doing it one month?
21.
I think I can speak for everyone here by saying a massive CHEERS for sorting this out!!
absolutely! I'll check them out and vote over the weekend I hope mine made it and wasn't one of the loud ones - I did my best with the K Metering!
22. I bought a rack tuner from Andy, no problems at all, couldn't have gone better!
23. You're using the pre-amps in your desk, so ideally all you want from the interface is line inputs, no pre-amps. Unfortunately these tend to be more expensive. This looks perfect: http://www.thomann.de/gb/echo_audiofire_12.htm Not used their stuff before though so I can't recommend it. I do the same but with PCI cards which have loads of line inputs. I also have a Tascam USB audio interface which is great, but the first 8 inputs are all mic inputs with pre-amps so to do the same thing I'd have to make an insert loom with XLRs on one end. Not a big deal I suppose.
24. dirt is the most important for me. I've not actually found a pedal which would suit all my needs without coupling it with a blender and/or EQ but i'm sure there's one out there.
25. Just bought an SD-2 from Shep, couldn't have gone better!
