1. in addition to playing about with the order of effects in series, I really like blending different effects chains in parallel, although you need extra kit to do that, just thought it was worth a mention
2. damn, thought so, I have the guitar one and it is good but would really love a go of the purple one
3. what a great read, excellent! I was talking to him about his pedals outside a gig in Manchester but was too drunk... He said to me he was using the Bass XXL (the purple one) but I can't see it in your pics and you call it "Tech 21 XXL" - can you confirm which one he's using?
4. cool, let us know how you get on stevie
5. how are you going to split the signal before it gets to the pedals? I'd just go with an LS-2
6. I know quite a few people do it, but my thinking was that boosting the full range ouldn't give you an alternative to a channel switch, which is what it sounds like OP is after. It would give you a big low end boost, on top of distortion, as opposed to just dirtying up the signal while maintaining a constant level. Having said all that, I've just checked out the Streamliner 900 and it looks like the control you're talking about is just a gain control, so I'm wrong, you do just want a boost. Alternatively it's just a push switch so it'd be fairly easy to wire that up to a jack on the back you're not using, and plug a footswitch in to that.
7.
What is amazing, considering how many you have, is that if I look down at my pedalboard, I have none of yours and you have none of mine !
heh, same here except for the OC2s, and I have even more pedals!!
8. no, sorry. I have windows 8 on a laptop but no firewire on it so can't test it for you sorry. If you're near Stoke we could always meet up for a test?
9. Hi Roger, sorry for the late response, it will give low latency, not sure about windows 8, this is the only info I can find: http://www.focusrite.com/answerbase/en/article.php?id=1202
10. I reckon you might be better with a treble boost, or an EQ to boost just specific frequencies. A normal clean boost might give you too much low
11. I've been playing just 6 strings for years. I've had a couple of people who clearly think I use them just to show off, but who cares? I know why I use them, and how to use them, that's all that matters.
12. I don't know of anything that would do this all in one box. An obvious solution would be an LS-2 or similar blending two chains, one of which has an EQ pedal with mid cut, the other has dirt pedals with a bass and treble cut at the end of the chain. I think there'd be a lot of demand for this sort of thing... I think the J-Lo dirt pedal just distorts mids and leaves the bass and treble alone? But obviously that's just one pedal and you really need 5 or 6 dirt pedals to play with
13.
Really cool setup! Although tuner at the end? That would annoy me, having to turn pedals off to get a true reading, best at the start IMO Si
Would distortion significantly mess with pitch?
14. well the DA2 sounds perfect for bass where people sometimes struggle to get higher notes to cut through The MO2 sounds like what I've been doing with distortion combined with EQ and compression for ages... I can't wait to try them in a shop!
15. I have a selection of around 50 different sounds and they're all mine Surprisingly enough, I still manage to practise, I have taken lessons in the past, I'm not a ludicrously technical player, and I set up for gigs in 5 minutes.
16.
Yep. Even one guitarist can be a problem if he (or she) is hogging the low end...
Absolutely, I've had this problem in the three peices I've played it, just 'cos the guitarist has a very bassy cab. When he turns the bass knob all the way off, it's a good mix, but that doesn't work psychologically... I mean, who wants to turn their bass knob all the way down?!
17. I've been to see so many local bands with two guitars and a bassist, and while you might be able to "feel" a mushy rumble, you cannot tell what the bassist is doing. I don't mind if the bass is totally lacking in high mids or top end, that's fine, but it should be "clear" and to me this is what "cutting through" means. Generally, it's when the guitarists have too much low end in their sound, and they don't realise it, 'cos they're standing right next to their cabs where adjusting the low control on their amp has no audible effect.
