1.
I like a tiny bit of octabass on a fretless, haven't felt the need for much else.
go on, try a bit of dirt, you'll never go back!
2. lol, how many times will people ask this. What is "need" in music anyway? You need a pedal to tune up. Then you need a pedal to reign in any very harsh peaks. A pedal to bring out those glorious high mids and one to boost your booming lows. Another couple of pedals for your funk, fuzz, filter, phaser, flanger... Of course you need some imagination as well otherwise you'll be standing behing a bunch of great bass tones and thinking "I only wanted one good sound"
3. I would use the amp which has your favorite pre-amp. Take the effects send from that amp to the input of the effects unit. Then one output of the effects unit goes to the effects return on your favorite amp. Another output of the effects unit goes to the effects return on your 2nd amp (bypassing this pre-amp). Simple?
4. Well I've made my first attempt at a sale on here recently and although there are no takers it's going quite well. I've had advice on pricing without drama, i've found out some more about my bass and some very friendly discussions with interested parties. Absolutely no low-ball offers even though i've been trying to encourage it. What's going on?!?
5. Yeh I would say option 1. You will want to play with the order of your wah/filter/dirt until you find what works, but having these at the start of your chain is probably the best option.
6.
Finding a good room where you can let rip is (that you can afford) is a complete swine.
Sorry, yes, I forget how lucky I am!
7. I've been using real reverb from my room on vocals recently and it sounds so much better! If you have a "roomy room" it's probably cheaper than any hardware. But obviously there are free plug-ins such as 5i's recommendation
8. I'm not sure if I can do any test or anything. I could do sound samples but my pre-amps are probably rubbish and obviously the sound source is subjective etc. I saw them recommended in Tape Op and decided they were too cheap to not try
9. yeh the matched pair of bullets is what I have. I've been using them as overheads and they're great. I actually prefer them to the condensors in the Red Audio drum set.
10.
check out karma mics http://www.karmamics...bon-Microphone/ Also if you can get hold of a SM7, I know people how use that for loads of different things.
I was trying to remember their name yesterday. I have a pair of the bullet mics and they really are amazing for the money IMO
11.
Wait till you need a decent multicore and patchbay....
I make do with my cheap sh*te! Although I did get a decent multi-core/loom on wheels from basschat. As I don't have sound proofing, the only way to disconnect the mics from the noise of my computer is with metres of cables!
12. I'm actually quite interested in the box as a whole. Why not make a sale thread "three pedals in one, will split if needs be"?
13. I have the red audio drum mic set and it is indeeed very versatile! I tend to buy my mics used on here or ebay, i've not bought a dodgy one yet actually the most annoyingly expensive bit for me were the stands and cables... you don't really think about them until it's too late.
14.
Wrong I'm afraid, I wish it were that simple.
I thought that swapping the wires over on one end of a jack lead would invert the phase. I'm pretty sure I learned it at uni? EDIT: Ahhh, but that wouldn't solve the problem when the pedal is off. Surely there are another couple of wires inside the pedal you could flip over?
15. bump - just got hold of a second fridge
16. Once while playing drums for a fairly heavy rock band, I asked the soundman if I could rotate the kick mic 90 degrees so that it was facing the skin instead of the side of the drum. He said "there are two ways to mic a kick drum you know, leave it alone".
17. you're getting rid of the Moog LPF?!? I thought that was the essential pedal for dubstep? I find it far too difficult to sell pedals. I always think "I might need that sound" 'cos I do a lot of recording.
18. My first bass was a Fender Musicmaster. I had no idea what it was at the time. I'd bought a 6 string bass and decided 4 wasn't enough so I swapped it for a cheap sh*t drum kit. I really, really regret it. I'd love to have that bass back
19. Well I do want a looper so maybe once I have that i'll move on to something else. Maybe a nice synth pedal. I have the digitech BSW but it's rubbish
20. I do this in one of my bands but they hardly ever tell me about tempo problems. It's pretty frustrating and I have no idea how to fix it. I can play to a click but they don't really like it because there are bits in the songs where they like the drums to shut up, at which point we go out of time. for the rock band I play in (more up tempo) I don't seem to have the problem at all
21. I just need a band to play bass in so I can make my weird noises. I think I might actually have enough pedals... what's wrong with me?
22.
Well, they're basically a bunch of digital samples stuffed into the same box. There's no way it's going to sound good.
There are no samples of sounds stuffed into this box. It does have A/D/A conversion going on if that's what you're on about? I love zoom multi-effects. I use a lot of individual pedals too (I think my collection is at least 40 pedals) but I still gig with my B2.1U as well.
23. I need a looper so I can play with my pedals instead of f***ing about with basslines.
24.
How large is 'large'??
To be honest I was only joking. I love cheese but for a cheese/bass trade to make sense i'd have to get much more than my fridge could hold. Maybe someone with an industrial fridge could put together a call-off deal for me, but I doubt it.
25. Bump - no offers yet, you never know, I might take a (large) block of cheese!
