I think I had a fairly big sound with my band. Distortion, clean blend, parallel compression and bi-amping were the main ingredients IMO. Me and the drummer "locked in" just fine. No amount of practicing would give me the huge sound of adding a guitar amp.

Clarky, we played to a 3 peice support band once, it's not too bad.
I think my wife actually said those exact words once. With a straight face.
To be fair you wouldn't normally expect to have to read the manual for your blender.
The DD-20 manual shows you (on page 26) all the different relationships you can set between the tap tempo and the delay time in terms of note lengths. I personally don't have a DD-20, but I've fiddled with one for a good long while and as long as I had the TEMPO thing set to a crotchet (quarter note, call it what you will ) the delay time was equal to the tap tempo. And, of course, you can set it to quavers (two delays per tap) or triplet quavers (three delays per tap). That's the beauty of the beast! Dotted notes are always a good one with delays.
Well, I did look AT the manual, it's just I forgot to look inside.
Hmmm…. I love the pedal, but use the 2 headed tape delay and the Warp setting the most… This was my first Tap Tempo delay pedal so I don't have much to compare to.When using it at rehearsal, if I tap a solid rhythm along with whats being played then start playing it does react in time with the music, but not in the sense of one foot tap per delay so to speak. Almost like the delay is double time to the tap. I do find it easier to get my hear around when you change the display from Milisec's to BPM! Shep
I didn't know you could set it to BPM!! Excellent, i'll give that a go. At the moment it's as though it's going at 3 times the speed of my tapping, or something like that.

Nice. I recently got a DD-20 and i've been struggling a little. Probably because I didn't take the time to learn it with guitar or bass before adding it to my drum pedalboard. Anyway, do you find the tap tempo function OK? Mine reacts ok to differences in tempo of tapping, but the tempo of the delays don't bear much relation to the tempo of the tap.
Arr, not deleted out of anger - just board embarrassment!
Ahhh, heh, really, this thread is more like porn than it is discussion. If you look through there are loads of boards with no comments. I'm not sure if I can remember yours but I think my reaction was along the lines "FS I wish that was mine, so shiney and organised" and i'd never post admitting to jealousy over another's board!
Cheers. No comments from anyone on my board then? I thought this was a place to post your board and get some comments and advice. Not sure why I took the time to take a picture and post it. I'll delete it as it was obviously too non-descript/dull/sh*t to get a response.
How very mild-mannered! I'm not sure if i've taken this the wrong way, but it looks like you really have deleted your post of your board?!?

I have a question which could fit in here... I have a half decent set of monitors at home where I mix, and that's fine. However, where I record, I have a pair of headphones, or the world's worst PA to choose from. Is there any chance I can get a PA that's OK to monitor through? It's just even with everything set flat my crap PA was all muddy mids - I guess 'cos it's voiced for vocals? I'm looking to spend less than £150 to get a set up which could maybe help us at rehearsal, but mainly function as monitoring for listening back to takes.

High end gear - are we kidding ourselves?
cheddatom replied to niceguyhomer's topic in Amps and Cabs
Well, i've used a peavey combo for about 8 years now. It certainly doesn't look high end, but it puts out everything I need. I was recording a metal band the other day, and this kid turned up with a little ashdown combo. I said "will that be loud enough? You're welcome to try my rig!". He laughed and said "I think this is going to be better, it should be, it cost me £275" - as though price has some bearing on the sound produced. His guitarist friend was using some cheap no name guitar through a marshall MGFX and had great tone, but the bassist just didn't get it. Later on, I asked to borrow his headphones for a second. "yeh, but they only cost £65" - WTF?!? I've always said you can get the best sounds out of cheap gear. I remember reading similar comments from the members of Asian Dub Foundation - I think the guitarist plays an encore or similar. I have absolutely no desire for "high end gear". -
I know i'm the one always asking for night shots, but that's because the "day shot" is kind of a given. EDIT: Lol, I said that becase the first pic didn't load! Damn it. That looks like a fun board!

that IS annoying. Maybe I can wire it for a battery.
end of
I've only just realised the irony of this expression. End of what? You didn't finish your sentence, it's missing the end!

I'm pretty sure i've worked out the main bit, but it sounds like he's doing a lot more than I can tell, like loads of slapped or popped ghost notes or something. anyway, I can't find a decent performance video online, and i'd really like to be able to play this monstor bassline. Surely there is someone on BC who can help...

It's nothing specific to music. Loads of people speak with authority on things they know absolutely nothing about. God knows why, and I wish they'd stop!

This is something that would be really useful for a lot of people. I'd like something like the LS-2 but replace the mode knob (we only want the mix mode) with a crossover knob.

have a look at dv247.com, they have a lot of interfaces, USB and Firewire. I'm not sure what your exact requirements are but you should be able to find something on there. If it's too expensive keep an eye out on the for sale forum. I've seen some really good deals on interfaces on here in the past.

yeh, nice one, you could probably fit one of those little clean blender on there as well, it should give you more punch. You know if you plug into the other output on the echohead, the delays fade out even after you've turned off the pedal, which sounds more natural to me.

I'm powering it using a godlyke powerall. I get the impression that it's true bypass, but i'm not sure if i've tried it with no power. I couldn't find a battery compartment on it. I don't really want to ask the guy I bought it off, as it would seem like i'm accusing him of selling me a dud after i'd already received everything and told him it was OK (without checking, what an idiot). Ta for the reply, if anyone thinks this would be more appropriate in another area, please say so, 'cos I could do with getting this going!
