1. I have a 105 (or 110 maybe) tuned to C# and it's fine. I'm pretty sure it's just your technique. If you have a graphic or parametric EQ you could probably EQ it out (if you don't want to change your technique). My advice would be to get some distortion on the go, and embrace your "click", turning it into hard attack.
2. Heh, it's nice and friendly in here!! IMO for a good slap tone you need a subtle overdrive with tone wide open, and a cab capable of producing the highs you need.
3.
Try putting the limiter before the parallel compression. Set the threshold above the compressor threshold (obviously), that way the compressor doesn't have to deal with the signal peaks and can really work more effectively on shaping the dynamics. Otherwise you are still caning the compressor with the peaks, which you don't limit till afterwards, when it's too late!
Interesting! I'll give that a go, thanks.
4. I honestly think it's an easy fix if it is the micro switches.
5. Most (all?) anlogue distortion pedals will oscillate if you put them in a feedback loop. This might be a better route to go down with bass, rather than trying to modify an oscillating guitar pedal.

TAB
The universality of the system, ct. TAB only works for guitar. Dots work for an infintie variety of instruments. If I have to write a part out for a sax or, alternatively, need to learn a line written originally for a trombone, flute or harp, I can do so without any real difficulty. Also, and more importantly for me, my study material doesn't stop at bass/guitar music but can include everything up to and including a full orchestral score. That's what I mean by it being good for getting you out of a rut. Learning a Coltrane sax solo or Marsalis trumpet part is far more challenging (and useful) than learning a Victor Wooten circus trick any day .
ahhhhhh, I see!!! Ta.
7. I would have thought the FF would destroy your low end. Can you do sound clips?

TAB

I was taught using tab since I was 8 (on guitar). I don't know what you others have been reading but I had plenty of rythmic notation - little stroke lines at the bottom of the tab to denote the beats. I also got numbers to show which finger to use for which note. Fair enough if no pros use it, but it seems perfectly acceptable to me. What am I missing?
9. Do you not loose low end with the Fuzz Factory? EDIT: What do you use the EHX Holy Stain for?
10. I know, I hope I got the first PM in!
11. yeh W7 seems to be going down very well. I have a couple of laptops at work running it fine. I like it!
12. what i've always wanted to create is a multi band distortion with all the controls of a compressor IE attack, sustain, release, threshold for each band. I reckon that's been done before I just haven't seen one.
13. That's the spirit, you never can be too positive. I like the blue bass!
14.
Interesting idea. What if something like the envelope follower of an SPL Transient Designer was used to control the envelope of the distorted signal, thus allowing you to adjust the attack and sustain of the distorted signal as well, similar to the way that unit works?
Good idea!
15.
so something on the input to read the level which then changes a resistance to the output?
yeh, so your bass sounds horribly distorted but the original dynamics are there.
16. Random idea: High gain distortion reduces all dynamics from the input signal. What if a pedal "read" the dynamics of the clean signal, then obliterated it, then used the "reading" to vary the volume of the output?
17. You shouldn't have to have latency at all. Check you have the right drivers for your card and OS. Does the driver have a control panel? Anyway, it would be worth your while to get a decent USB audio interface - there are loads of great cheap ones around.
18. Good on you for helping bands out! I did a couple of albums for free last years (but they were turd polishers) and i'd like to do more, just to get experience, and hopefully to help people. Obviously i'm no where near your standard yet!!
19. Heh, I think i'll do it away from other more health conscious people in future!
20. no the socket for the external footswitch is to control other parameters.
21. Sell tickets up front? I think I said I might go last time but couldn't make it. It depends on the date, i've never been to one of these deals, it could be fun!
22.
I can't use lead solder the smell makes me feel very sick, modding american pedals is horrible I thought the sale of it was banned in the EU?
Really? I have loads of it. I made a loom in the living room the other night and my girlfriend said the smell made her feel sick. Is she just being a pussy? You can't really get ill from it can you?
23. I've pasted this from a thread I made. I think you may have a similar problem. IME Zoom footswitches are sh*t. Everything else is amazing.
The footswitches on my B2.1U stopped working properly a while a go. Sometimes they'd stick, sometimes they just wouldn't work. The other day I decided to get off my lazy arse and fix it, so I thought i'd share my findings here. The foot switches are actually micro switches underneath the things you step on. On my pedal, the poles you step on weren't reaching the micro switches. I searched for ages online looking for a good fix, but it seems people either replace the micro switches, or stick tape onto the poles to make them longer. I didn't feel like either of these were a long term option, as the micro switches seem fragile and tape can come off. I bought two momentary (non latching) footswitches from maplins. I soldered these to the back of the little PCB which had the micro switches on. Then, I got out the old footswitches and put my new ones in. The only problem is the little PCB with the micro switches on it won't screw back into place, as my new switches are taking up room. I've just taped it into place instead. Sorted!
I had to do a similar thing to my old GFX707.
24. There's a fiendish envelope filter dealy on the XP-100 whammy wah.
25. If you have the option to mix two signals together, it would be worth trying the two channels in parallel, or better yet... Set one channel to punchy compression, then mix this around 50% with clean, then feed that into the limiter!
