1. Lol, MrsT how do you wremember these things!?! It's really starting to piss me off now. (the tech problem, not MrsT's memory) I keep going to browse to the top level at the top left and the damn link's in the middle!
2. I should hope not!! (I thought someone else did the coding)
3. The links at the top to take you to the different levels of the forum keep jumping around, as do the google ads. What's going on!?
4. I might be confused, but you fitted out a mini-kitchen even though you're going to rip it out when the other kitchen's ready!??! It probably makes sense, but I hate doing work that I know will be un-done!
5. That's 'cos it has a fiendish EQ section with low control. I saw one of these sets on Ebay a while ago and was rather tempted. No cash now though, but i'd love the jackhammer and echohead.
6. there's nothing that good on the album in terms of bass lines or playing IMO. Certainly, the riffs groove, but compared to some of Homme's earlier work, the sound and composition is not "heavy" as in "heavy metal". It sounds more like "rock 'n' roll" than "heavy rock" or "stoner rock" or "grunge" or whatever he used to do. I'm not saying that album's sh*t, it's just it could have done with some re-arrangement IMO.
7. I think the album sounds like it could have done with a producer. I don't know if anyone's credited with that role, but eugh it wears thin.
8.
soft as sh*t
As opposed to...? There's nothing heavy on that album.
9. I have a schecter 6 which I love. There's one (if it's not sold) for sale here for £275 which is an absolute bargain!
10. I've seen big HH PA heads with 15" cabs for £100 before. That'd more than suit your needs! Have a look in your local shops. I reckon on a budget, brand should be the last thing on your mind. You just want as powerful as possible for as little money.
11. I'm using Cubase. I have my OS on a seperate drive anyway ta. So, esata or firewire. Price shall decide!
12. On the Wiki, it says that certain people claim that a difference can be heard between different nuts, even when you're fretting the string. That surely has to be a load of bollocks and there's been a scientific experiment to prove it?
13. Heh, OK (I think PCIx was 300MB/s) in that case it's deffinitely a good option. You can get the cards for £15 each, so two of them and a beast of an esata drive could be the solution.
14. the standard PCI cards run at half the speed of the PCI express ones. I'm not sure what all the different data rates are. Is sata through a standard PCI card still faster than IDE? USB? USB 2? Firewire? Thanks for all the help by the way
15. It seems you need PCI express to get an esata card which can give the most out of an esata drive. I'm learning a lot today! Like how old and useless my PCs are.
16. So maybe just carry on the way I am, as in use an external HD to transfer from one computer to another, and always copy to the local drive.
17. I'm really tempted, but also broke. If you're the unluckiest guy in the world, it might still be around next month, when i'll buy it!
18.
I play my 5 string: A C G C F and my 6 strings: A C G C F A sharp. I love it. It suits our music and my technique.
Weird, I didn't know anyone else did that! Mine's the same intervals but a semi-tone higher.
19. I got mine in a trade the other day, not tried it yet but it sounds like everyone loves it.
20.
if you are looking for a qotsa type sound - the tech 21 vt bass will get you close to Nick Oliveri's sound, although i see you have ampeg gear already!
Yeh, get a booster to distort your amp!
21. It sounds like you're a little un sure. When it comes to experimenting with effects, the cheapest way to go is multi-effects. If you're not sure if you want an auto-wah or a pedal wah, then something like a used B2.1U would help you find out what you're craving for a lot less than buying two decent single pedals. Also, multi-effects seem to be getting better and better. The new Line6 stuff looks great, although i've not had the chance to try yet.
22. It might be worth looking at multi-effects.
23. Really? I thought SCSI went out with Mini discs?
24. I have the latency set to 0 at the moment for little projects at home where we need to monitor from the computer. I should change that before recording proper audio. I'll look into a firewire drive. I found a firewire card the other day, which is convinient.
