Your bass goes into the input of your amp, FX send goes to the input of your pedals, output of your pedals goes to FX return. If you have the sensitivity on your pedal set to the max and you're still getting feedback I guess you're too close to the amp and you need to rest your fingers on your strings to bring the ouput of your bass down below the threshold of the gate.

I used a zoom multi for ages in my band. I used it blended with a compressed signal, which I would sometimes add distortion to with another pedal. I also had another dirt pedal in line with the Zoom. I used the zoom so that I could switch to complicated effects with the press of one button IE phase+fuzz with the phaser rate controllable with the treadle. Also wah and digital delay with the wah controlled.

It could be that the gate needs to be in the FX loop?

Marshall Echohead is a cheap introduction to delay. It has 6 (I think) very different modes, plus all the normal controls and tap tempo input, stereo output etc.

The volume keeps going up and down in an SS amp. I've asked around before (it's been sitting around for a year while i've been lazy/busy) and it was suggested I replace the "output caps". I had a look inside and thought it might be wise to just replace all the big caps. Am I at any risk here? It's been sitting around for at least 12 months. Are there any specific "musical" caps or do I just get the matching values from Maplins? Thanks in advance for any help

Interesting! IMHO you would do very well to make guitar sound (really) good through bass cabs alone.

That's a good point. Sometimes people don't want good tracking though. Loads of people love the digitech whammy, and Boss OC2 and they're both pretty poor(relative to expensive pitch shifting gear) at tracking notes.

I use loads of cheap pedals. I used to use a zoom gfx707 in combination with lots of other more expensive pedals and only ever had positive comments.

I wrote a song in a certain key, and it didn't sound right tuned down a semi-tone (which is what my band does) and I used a capo to raise it back up. The song was quite difficult and used open strings. I'm sure I could have learned it without a capo, but it would have taken a lot of practise which I couldn't be bothered to do!

I play bass and drums in two bands with the same frontman. I pretty much do whatever I want, but quite often I get "oh, I wanted it to go like this". Then it's down to me to say I like it or I don't. If I don't want to do it his way it can get a bit awkward. I think I generally back down and go along with it, especially on drums which i'm less experienced on. I think the generaly rule for our band(s) is: If it's significant (a chord, a route note, a rythm) then any member can comment on it. If it's insignificant (fills and solos basically) then it's down to the individual. If you dictate to a guitarist how to play a riff for example, it could end up sounding like you playing, rather than him.
