1.
Im sorry. I crawled up your fanny when exactly? Im well aware of what it is, but having sat in front of my amp youre well placed to question my judgement. Obviously you know best.
Jesus, are you not sleeping well? I RESPECTFULLY disagreed. My opinion is based upon the fact that I fail to see how one pot would sound any different to another pot of the same value. If someone can explain that to me, please do.
2. I should have been in incubus
3. BUMP I play the drums in this band so don't go freaking out the bassist demanding beer.
4.
I found the bespeco dulls your tone a little.
Lol, it's just a pot! I respectfully disagree.
5. well, a week or two ago I was saying how i'd bought a budget bespeco one for £15ish and gigged it 1-200 times. It broke last week!! So it's probably worth investing in one of the more durable ones.
6. Perhaps I could borrow this for a year or two before you sell it?
7. We're playing 2nd on the bill, somewhere between 8 and 8.30, it's about £3 to get in, quite a cool venue, and i'll buy you a pint if you tell me you're a BCer!! You can hear the music at myspace.com/creepjointmusic
8. That's a big list, can we have more prices please?
9.
lol...
Heh, I just had a think. I used to gig using around 15 different distortion sounds regularly. That was using EQ pedals to shape/drive the dirt pedals as well though.
10.
I need a custom flightcase building for my m13 and expr pedals nothing seems to be the right size stock.
Have you tried keyboard cases?
11.
Explain dirt...? I would consider 'dirt' to be overdrives etc... I have an overdrive, a really really heavy distortion and a synth with squarewave/bit cruncher style distortions on it as well, so id say I have more than enough!... or do you mean something else?
You got it, but that only gives you 12ish combinations of dirt. Clearly everyone needs 50+ possible dirty tones on their pedalboard.
12. for a whole week, all food and drinks included, in a nice place in a decent hotel, £500 would be a steal!
13. Nice board! Needs moar dirt though.
14. It could also be your amp positioning etc, but obviously that will affect your overall tone, not just in distorted bits. I used to use distortion 80% of the time, and I never had trouble, but I had a guitar combo right next to my ear feeding me all the nasty high mids and highs.
15. That's ace! LOOOOOAAAADS of room.
16. The new zoom pedals are great IMO.
17. EQ is the only answer. Perhaps you need an EQ pedal after the dirt pedal (put them both in a bypass loop or close together for simultaneous switching) bringing up the highs and hi mids should help. EDIT: What EQ do you have on your amp? I'm just thinking if you get a sound you want when playing on your own, then it's just the guitars and drums drowning out certain frequencies, and you need to boost these.
18.
Every single one???? ......Nowadays every single radio plays Muse. Does that make them a worse band or a sucessful one?
Sorry, yeh, I was being sarcastic. There are lots of people who like to feel like a band belongs to them, or to a particular scene (usually determined by them all dressing the same) etc. and then turning on the band like they're the devil as soon as they get some major radio play. Having said that it may be common for bands to be more prolific and energetic and unusual in their early writing, for obvious reasons.
19.
Why do popular tunes always get slagged off?
Probably because they get played so f*cking often on the radio, TV, tv adverts, idiots in the pub etc etc. It gets annoying hearing the same thing over and over, especially if it's a "catchy" tune. Personally, I heard it the first time and thought "that's another catchy tune form them, nice one". Now I can't stand it.
Kings of Leon stopped being good when they cut their hair. Fact.
Every band in the world were amazing for their first 1 or 2 albums and then "sold out" or "turned commercial" or just basically got too trendy for people who consider themselves "alternative".
20. I'm impressed! Nice one.
21. Sorry I didn't see this thread, I would have sorted you with some free software and advice for latency free recording on a sh*t PC. I have a line6 backtrack, I use it loads for just recording ideas in the living room, or for recording samples to go on proper songs.
22. yes!! I wish i'd known when I had some cash left. Can you wait until the 25th?
23.
Bear in mind that the inserts on any desk can be turned into direct outs with a TRS jack with the tip and ring wires shorted together. It provides passthrough of the uninterrupted signal through the insert point, plus an unbalanced split output into a recording device or whatever. Same function can be done using a patchbay.
yeh but I don't think this desk has inserts on each mic channel?
24. Very impressive! If you have the pics, a retrospective build diary or two would be a great addition to the forum!
25.
My old band played the norfolk about a month ago. the promoter tried to cancel on us after we arrived. he's a kid in his late teens early twenties. he was being lazy by not actually promoting it.
We played on Saturday. We got there just after some 16 year old kids from down south. 5 minutes later the landlord calls up to say "cancel the gig, I need the PA at my other pub". So we went to get our own PA and sorted out the sound. It was OK, but you'd think after all that effort the other bands would have stayed around to watch us. cnuts. Anyway, we played to about 20 people and trashed the "stage" (floor) at the end.
