1.
To me, Janek is a great player, and would be a valuable member of this community if the same old clowns didn't just rip him to bits every time he writes here, and it's the usual suspects every time.
There are some people I regard as sensible making posts to this effect. I find it very strange. I've read back over the thread, and it's pretty clear that Janek took some comments way too seriously/personally, and was then unwilling listen to reason. I too would love it if more pro players, especially someone of his caliber, would post more here. Someone suggested he post in the techniques section. I'm sure there would be no contentious posts in there for him to take the wrong way. He clearly doesn't want to contribute to the techniques section, so let's not get bent out of shape and blame our own members for "forcing him out".
With all due/total respect to you and everyone else who've been critical of BGM in this thread - there are plenty of BGM contributors who have read all the critical comments on here and they DO take them seriously.
I haven't been critical about BGM at all, I made it quite clear i've never read an issue. I think it's great that contributors such as yourselves are here reading the comment. What I was really saying is that BGM need to make an official response. Even if it's just the editor coming on to make a post saying "Thanks for all your comments here, we couldn't improve our mag without your feedback, rest-assured we're reading your criticisms and are working to improve the magazine for all of you."
2. If it's only the footswitch it should be easy to fix. Perhaps they just use a dodgy sort? The footswitches on my Zoom B2.1U have broken, but it will be really easy to fix, so I don't feel like it's a shoddy product or anything.
3. Sorry, yeh it wasn't a dig at you, I just find it amusing when someone wants a pedal that doesn't colour their sound much. The ODB-3 is a great pedal IMO, I don't know why it gets such a hard time.
4. IMHO The ODB-3 has so much low end on tap with the low control, there's no way you can get a thin sound out of it. I think some people just want to be able to leave the EQ controls flat so they "can hear the true sound of my bass, man".
5. IMHO BGM should get someone on here who ACTUALLY represents them, because at the moment all I can see is one of the magazine's contributors being defensive of the status quo, and nothing else. I suggest it would be beneficial if the chosen representative can ignore anything but the issues at hand.
6. Lol!! It looks like it's progressing nicely. I would go for a pizza oven over an iso booth any day, but then I have a nice room so don't feel the need for isolation any where near as often as pizza.
7.
In line with what Alex has said, I would say don't bother with a passive sub. And no, you can't bridge the amp output like that unless it's designed to be bridged, and is dedicated just to powering a sub. What sort of amount were you looking to spend?
Ta but i've found an active sub from a 5.1 set, and I should be able to run my amp and the sub off a little mixer I have.
8.
Compressor, OD, Wah.
I would go for this, but if I could choose 3 specific pedals... XP-100 whammy/wah LMB3 limiter a dirt pedal! I can't decide which one. I most like the sound of guitar pedals in a blend loop, so I can't put my usual ones!
9. Are you selling your Ibanez multi? I bid on one of these once but missed it by a fiver!
10.
I even once sent out a pack with a post-it on the front. The company put our pack through to the bosses because i'd written something along the lines of "I dare you to listen to the CD before you decide we're all ugly as w**k and put us on the 'no chance' pile" Winking smiley and all!
Nice one! IMHO if you're going to send all the gubbins through proffessionally done, then you may as well send it from a fake promo company. Having said that, it didn't get us any responses. Neither did hand written letters, full press packs with pro photos, handmade packaging, random interesting designs and stickers on the package etc etc.
11. OK i'll try and find a way to use an active one. Speaker emulation would mean you don't have to rely on the soundman having good mics and good technique, that was where the idea came from. EDIT: Thanks for the info!
12. We'd all have a different holy trinity though. Mine would be dirt, compression, dirt!
13. Suggestion first - I was thinking last night about how you have all of this modelling software etc so you probably know the exact frequency response of your cabs at the optimum listening point. You could use that data to create a speaker emulator. A Barefaced cab with one of those new little poweramps and a DI with 100% accurrate speaker emulation on would be perfect for loads of people! Question - I'm lacking low end in a big way on my mixing rig. I have a pair of studio spares NS10s and they are OK but the low end is almost entirely missing. I have no master EQ, and I think that might be a bad idea? So i'm wondering if it would be easy enough to add a passive sub to my system? If so can you recommend one? Can I plug it into both speaker outputs on my amp?
14.
...defence of expensive bass reviews...
I don't buy the mag, and i've never read it, but I find this hilarious. Your readership are reading your post as a representation of BGM, and you're trying to pursuade them that they're wrong! The customer is ALWAYS right, even when they're wrong.
15. does it have direct outputs or insert points for the mic channels?

Vinyliser

I just had a look as this is something i'd like. I found your posts on a couple of forums!! I also found this.
17. I don't know the answers to your questions sorry but.. Have you tried overdriving it by boosting the input, with an EQ pedal or a boost pedal? Would putting a higher gain input valve in risk overdriving the poweramp?
18. I used to keep pedals loose on top for storage, but still wired up. Then when I got to a stage, I would just put the board down, and put the resting pedal onto the floor. Can people please remember the lights off LEDs on shots!

If you want feedback... I looked at the site, and it looks great, as does the gear. However, I have no idea what the m:system is. Is this me being stupid? I've read about the features of the m:system, but have no idea what it is or what it does!
20. nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo that was a steal.
21.
Completely forgot - sold my first ever bass which was a really nice little brand new '78 Fender Musicmaster in white
I have the exact same regret!
22. arrrrrgh I want 2nd dibs on this please! I'm only in stoke too. Please can you verify what this actually includes.
23.
Hi folks - as a bit of a tech numpty, is there any chance someone could recommend a good signal chain for these pedals? Much appreciated!
