1. I used to use a capo all the time, on a 6 string bass. It was one for a classical guitar (wider neck) and it didn't cover the C string properly.
2. Ahhh, I was wondering if you had them set up for massive mental harmonies or something. I love the wahs on the XP-100. I found the octave down to be just as good as my OC-2 so I gave it to my guitarist! Heh. BTW of course the ladies love the whammies, are you on the muse board by any chance?
3. I bought some studio spares NS-10s and they're a bit sh*t IMHO. Anyone else used these? Am I doing something wrong?
4. I don't really think distortion affects the pitch at all, but I suppose it could effect how responsive the tuner is. You should be tuning on mute anyway so it'd be fine.
5.
I know what you mean - my last band was a blues band that agreed (under duress) to pick up a cancellation by a functions band, so we had to learn some new stuff really quickly. At my first attempt to play the synth intro to Mercy by Duffy I stomped on the Q-Tron to get a really squelchy Bootsy-type sound ... and everyone stared in amazement. The rhythm guitarist who was also the MD said "I didn't know you could do that - just keep doing it." Of course, we didn't have a keyboard player ...
olol bootsy would have sounded miles better as a keyboard player?!?!??
6.
I just can't see the point in deliberately competing with a keyboard player - in any effects head-to-head he's gonna win hands-down.
I don't see it as competition at all. It should be reinforcement.
7. I've recently come to the conclusion that this idea that each instrument needs to occupy a set frequency range(s) and not interfere with eachother is a load of balls. People think that when you're in a 3 peice that effects on bass are great, but as soon as you get another guitarist, or a keyboard player, then you suddenly can't hear the effects anymore? Of course you can! Even if all it sounds like you're doing to the audience is doubling the keyboard, notes and sounds, I don't think that matters, you're still contributing to the sound in a way that you couldn't without the effects.
8. I really liked my putting my bass balls into my big muff. Also, wah before distortion is the same thing, and that's pretty standard. I really like it the other way round too, but as this guy has the IQ and the Agent 00 he may aswell have both options.
9. If you want to use it as an amp simulator, or as a DI for live sound, and you want these applications to be applied like an amp, after your effects chain, put it at the end. If you're just using it as a dirt pedal, then play about with the order, although you don't have much to play with. It depends what you're using your EQ for. If you use your TU-2 to mute, and you use the sansamp to feed the desk, the TU-2 needs to be before the sansamp.
10.
Nope mate, back in Liverpool now.
Never mind!
11. Are you still in stafford? I fancy the DS-1 for £20 cash.
12. I thought the chain you described before: Bass to EBS Octabass to Brown Dog to Agent 00 Funk to EBS Bass IQ to EBS Multi Comp to EBS Uni Chorus!! Is a good starting point. I would put the IQ before the Brown Dog though.
13.
would be mint for overdriving things, although you don't really need THAT much gain ;p
Wouldn't it blow up your amp or whatever is next in the chain because it's a speaker output?
14. I find your attitude towards physical labour lazy, and your attitude towards animal labour sickening.
15. Heh, I used to have a headphone splitter on my board and felt very embarassed about it.
16. Does anyone just carry their combo/cab? I used to carry my peavey combo from the car to the stage and back no problem.
17.
And would you?
No i've never bought from him. If it were me i'd search ebay for "y jack cable".
18. people will recommend the custom cable builder OBBM on this site.
19.
I think what TaySte meant was to put the Y cable before the Brown Dog, send one split to the Brown Dog input, and the other to the 00Funk envelope in. Same solution I suggested using an LS-2 really, but much cheaper. I'm always a bit sketchy about using Y-cables, but not for any rational reason.
Oh yeah....deeeerrrrr
But I would try it with a Y-cable first like TaySte suggested. If it works well enough then it'll be much cheaper than the LS-2 solution.
+1
20.
Sounds complicated b ut if it works then great - but the LS-2 is another £75 which is a pain! Can you advise what a Y cable is - not heard of that before. Where do I get one from? Also any advise on the crank type jack pedal connectors - good ones and where to get them from?
A Y cable is two jack cables joined together at one end by a jack plug.
21.
Surely just a Y cable will do output of Brown dog into ev and the input?
Yes but then the envelope input will be post Fuzz.
