1. 2 pedals 1 power supply.... I was expecting some sort of sick joke!
2. Well there is excellent rack-mounted equipment available, but if you're happy with what you've got you could put them inside your existing rack if you have one for your head, or you could make a small pedalboard to put behind you or ontop of your amp.
3. Can't you just put your pedals behind you right next to your amp? Lots of bassists do that.
4.
Swimming (along with many of the exercises mentioned) actually aggravates many of my problems so be careful.
Apparently swimming can be really good or really bad depending on your swimming technique.
5.
how hard is to split the guitar case into two pieces (base and lid)
Just replace the existing hinges with the separating hinges you get on flightcases. I bet you can get them from B&Q.
6.
Personally, I reckon it's worth holding out for a used mixer case or something from a flightcase builders' clearance section, which is what I did.
+1 Mixer case, Keyboard case, Guitar case etc.
7. I used to have a bleeding wrist when I played with a pick, and when I was a very sweaty teenager, basically from the friction created between my very sweaty wrist as it rubbed against the bass as I picked up and down very hard and fast. The first time it happened it really freaked me out, but after that I just got used to it and thought it looked "rock 'n' roll" until I grew up. (no offence but....) If you're playing fingerstyle and you get that much friction/abrasion between your wrist and the bass, then your wrist is far too sweaty!! A wrist band could help I suppose, or long sleeve tops, but I hate wearing sleeves to play. Talcom powder could also help, or whatever it is that weight lifters use to put on their hands. You need something to dry your wrist out a bit, and something to ease the friction a bit.
8.
The other one to try is a Danelectro French Toast. Seriously great sounding fuzz.
+1!
9. The amp would only see 2ohms and so over-heat and explode?
10. I think lots of volume pedals connected at the other end with a 3 strand splitter cable could work as a mixer. Not 100% sure though!
11. I ran my peavey 15" combo bi-amped with a guitar 2 x 12" combo for the top end. It just sat on top. Compared to putting a 2 x 10" on top as a full range extension, the bi-amp is miles better.
12. I don't think so. Imagine what a task that would be! Trawling through thousands of different gear and fan forums etc. There is a website called guitargeek but they stopped updating that ages ago.
13. I think the first pedal in both chains could do with a buffer as well, but yeh, it should work to split your signal for the input but you will still need something to blend the outputs.
14. Strange! I had good results with my XP-100 chorus in my barge concepts feedback loop. I suppose that has a buffer though.
15.
Cheddatom, the BYOC large beaver you got from kev used to be mine, I finished it using plasticote spray paint from homebase
Cool, I love the sparkly blue finish! bobbass how come your chorus isn't in your feedback loop?
16. Greetings! I come in quite regularly. I'm not quite sure which one you are, i'm assuming the guy who had some funky slapping going on last time I was in - very good! I only come in for consumables, there's never any 6 strings in or interesting pedals or the like, but the shop is nice and friendly.
17. Nice. How did you do the finish on the byoc pedals?
18. I used to get a great sound that could be described with the words you use. I used a zoom GFX707 blended with a compressed signal using a boss LS-2. The 707 can be quite noisy but in a gigging context was not noticable, and it was easy to work around in the studio. The newer zoom pedals do a similar job. Perhaps a multi-fx unit would be appropriate if you're looking for versatility and the ability to switch between different settings. I had mine set so that the exp pedal controlled the gain on the distortion patch and it was really useful.
19. I think the ODB3 IS low gain at 9 o'clock, and I like it! I really think you need a guitar pedal and a blender.
20. The most biting overdrive i've ever had was with a Boss AW-3 with EXP pedal set so that it basically made my bass extremely clicky - into an ibanez overdrive, both blended with 50% compression, all blended with around 20% clean.
21. Have you tried a marshall jackhammer? I think the only way to get real aggressive attack is very biting overdrive combined with around 50% clean signal.
22.
In that case I'm guessing the low end loss I percieved must have something to do with the internal trimpot settings?
It could be. I messed with them when I first got it but that was years ago. I know one of them controls sensitivity on the plate, can't remember what the other one does.
23. I use a wah probe with bass and I love it. I've used it on it's own and not noticed any low end loss, but I have been using it blended for the last 3 years. It's deffinitely my favorite wah out of all i've tried.
24. Is the worm really noisy? I've tried two different ones in shops here in Stoke and they were very noisy. If not i'm interested!
