1. How many channels do you want? You could build a wooden box with some wooden treadles and wire it up with some volume pots. It might work out cheaper, although I reckon you can get volume pedals for £15 or so.
2. Do you have any music software at all? Because you could do this very easily with any package that lets you create MIDI data.
3.
Cheeky. There's no mode on the LS-2 to put the loops in series, A -> B. There's also no mode to switch between one channel and both in parallel. I'd really need both of those things and I figured it'd be cheaper to just buy another OC-2.
I wasn't being cheeky, I meant it would be good if you could switch modes without turning the mode knob. I'm pretty sure there is an A->B mode, as well as the A+B mode.
4. It's sounds like you're not really in a band at the moment, you're still trying to put a band together. There's nothing wrong with that. If you leave this project, you'll just start trying to put another band together and probably ask the same people, so stick with it and look for some more people! 5.
Yes. Sometimes they don't even need to hear me play. Seriously!
Why would they with that hat and beard combo?
6.
Yeah sorry I meant with the OC-2 isolated in one side of the LS-2, where it can track well, and then mixing in a fuzz at the other side of the LS-2 is one of my favourite ways to use it. I also like OC-2 into fuzz though. I'm thinking about having two OC-2s on my board so I can have another one before the LS-2. Can't think of any other way to wangle it, unless I get a custom looper than can run the two loops either in parallel or series.
Wouldn't it be good if there was sort of two button controller to flip through the modes on the LS2 with your foot!
7. I used to use a heaphone jack splitter to take a passive spit before a two different distortions in parallel, and then have an ABY at the other end. All three sounded fine, even Y when one of the distortions was off, but Y was a bit louder. If you're going to have a buffered input at the start of each chain, why not just make a jack lead with loads of splits off it, plug each split into a seperate chain, put a volume pedal on the end of each chain and then plug the outs from the volume pedals into a little mixer, or maybe just another jack lead with loads of splits on it. This way you can select each chain with the volume pedal, and level them out if needs be by fine tuning the volume pedals.
8. Your problem is when you switch between 1 or 2 of the channels, to all 4, it'll be much louder. You'd need a controlled mixer or some sort of complicated solution. I can't quite get my head around it at the moment. I'm thinking along the lines of different set levels on the mixer, and switching between the different channels for each option. Hopefully I will have some sensible suggestions in the morning.
9. It would get very complicated as you'd need a MIDI controllable router/switcher and a mixer(maybe MIDI controllable) and a MIDI foot switch thingy. For very basic experimentation.... If you want two parallel lines, use an LS-2. For 3, put another LS-2 in one of the loops of the other.
10.
We need somebody to take the Oasis and Radiohead CD's to the charity shop. I know we won't get much but it might pay for the bus home
You'd get serious cash for Radiohead CDs. I have taken offence at your comment.
11.
f***ing Radiohead. Now they are sh*t.
Anyone who rates Oasis over Radiohead has probably been punched in the head too many times.
12. First it's "you can't make a negative post about my favorite band!!" then it's "you can't say what I can and can't post!!" then it's "just stop posting for god's sake, I stopped posting myself ages ago!!" What's next? "STFU, I want to tell MYSELF not to post!!"
13. FS why did you have to go and lump Radiohead in with this bunch of TALENTLESS SCUM!!ARRRRRRRHHHH!!!
14. I'm going to give Vstack a go and see. I will report back after the weekend. Ta!
15. Lowdown has a VST system link system running with two delta cards. Mine are the LT versions, but I don't think they have an optical connection for lightpipe? Is it the case that I could use VStack or something to synchronise the two cards without using vst system link? This would be good, but i'd still like the transport (i.e stop and start) of both computers to be linked because then I can use automation on my FX PC. EDIT: Ta for the link though, I just don't think it's true seeing as Lowdown has his sytem working. Perhaps I should have done more research before buying my 2nd Delta card.
16.
using a comp for that is cheating, its all in the fingers using it to squash out unwanted peaks after the filter would be more sensible
Maybe you're right, but I much prefer my bass balls after some compression, otherwise the envelope seems to vary too much. It's not peaks I have a problem with, it's the actual envelope that it's following.
17. It depends KEv, you might want a "wild" envelope follower to be a bit more "tame".
18.
Vd
lol
19. Cheeky bump due to lack of progress and a whole recording computer sitting around spare!!
20. If it's working for one file but not for an other, then it's how you're setting up your new file. You have to select the right device, then set up the inputs and outputs, and then set your audio channels to the right input and outputs.
21. So do the same experiment with a the 15" on top and report back.
22. I see what you mean, it would be pointless if you used the passive link. Let us know how you get on. Another thought - surely one of your plethora of pedals has a DI output on a jack socket? I know a lot of Digitech pedals do.
23. Some DI boxes have a jack output. A DI doesn't just convert a jack plug to an XLR, it's to raise your instrument level signal to a line level signal, so it won't be pointless at all.
24.
I need every note to be be heard and I don't like it when people feel the bass but can't hear the notes.
It's an interesting distinction. I think both are equally important. Some of us seem to want to be heard as an individual, where as some of us want to contribute to the sound of the band as a whole. I think the latter is more important, but it's very hard to be so selfless, and i've never really acheived that.
25. I have a very high output from my board, but I prefer the sound of going into the passive input on my peavey. Leave it up to your ears!
