1. I've been playing with a band a bit recently. My board has calmed down a LOT since I used to gig with 25ish pedals, but basically only because I cba to set it all up again.
2. Yeh, I suppose, a switchable gain reduction for a guitarist who wants a setting rather than the sweep of a volume pedal.
3. Do they do a compressor that's linked to a flame thrower, so the harder you play, the more it compresses, this higher the flame goes?
4.
Nothing. It just removes/suppresses noise in a signal path. Doesnt have any affect on your tone at all. AFAIK it is designed exactly for the purpose in this case.
Basically, if the noise is there and noticable while you're playing, then a get won't help. I use a Boss NS-2 as my board is horribly noisy. Some of your tone freaks would throw up if you heard my board with the gate off. You can hear the noise while i'm playing if you listen carefully enough, but it's not enough to ruin my tone and at band practice or gigs it's was always unnoticable. Are you playing with a band? Obviously when you get into the studio it's not really a problem so it's only really for live work you need to sort this out, and I doubt it'd be much of a problem for any "rock" band. If you're playing acoustic pop though.... I think there are some noise-surpressory pedals that work in a different way to a gate.
5. No prob, ta. I was thinking about it for my girlfriend. She only wants a proper weighted one so it feels like a piano. Anything else is just not good enough for her majesty.
6.
I'm pretty sure they are as my singer hates it when there not. If there not fully weighted they'll definitely be part weighted! I'm seeing him in about an hour so will find out for you! Cheers Jake
And what did you find out?
7.
ahhh Do you have any pics of it in the "show us your pedalboard" thread?
Yeh I have a few pics in there, they're all of that board with the rack tuner on it, just differences in the pedals on there.
8. I didn't know the EHX signal pad was passive. That's a bit crap. Anyway, following on from what you're saying, his active bass will have a buffer built into the pre-amp, surely? So he can use the volume knob on his active bass to sort out his problem?
9.
Tom – what tuner have you got that has a rotatable front?
Heh, it didn't come with a rotatable front. You have to "modify" it a little.
10. Yeh it would. The difference in tone could be down to impedence though couldn't it? Rather than volume.
11. Good point, although there may be an indication as to where to set the output of the comp in it's manual, if you know what I mean? I think you're more likely to get what you want in rack form. I have a rack tuner on my board, the front is facing up, and the body of the unit is rotated 90 degrees underneath the board. That'd look pretty cool with a nice compressor with VU meter!
12.
Sadly... Bass >> PD7 >> Bad Monkey >> Amp: radio Thanks anyway
LOL! Sorry. Deffinitely try another bass or guitar. I have an amp which picks up the radio at my practice room, and at home my 5.1 surround speaker set is always blurting out some eastern european weirdness. Neither have ever caused me a problem though, as what I want to hear is louder than the radio.
13. I know what you mean, but comparing signals would give you the same information, even if it doesn't look as cool. Sorry, I don't know any pedals with a VU meter. I'll feck off!!
14. Is this sound card sold to me or someone else? If it's me can you PM me please so we can arrange collection? If it's not me, let me know so I can go for a little cry.
15. I don't know if you have the equipment to be able to do this, but you could easily route your dry signal, and your compressed signal to seperate channels on a DAW and watch the level meters or even record the results to compare. Do this while you find your required setting, write the setting on the pedal..... But it won't look cool.
16. Excellent packaging abilities. He could wrap my package any day of the week!!! I bought a mic and stand and it arrived promptly and politely in excellent condition.
17. ODB3 is very good at subtle OD but not very good at anything else. I wouldn't know about the Ibanez.
18. If you WANT to be able to tap your foot, I find it helps to think it through before you play. Which notes in the bassline are at the same time as a foot tap? Which are half way in between? Remember it, and play. This is the mental technique I used to get on with the drums.
19. You get no radio with the bad monkey in the chain. Does the bad monkey have to be on? Otherwise, there's your solution.
20. When using a limited number of tracks, especially when recording drums with just one or two mics, i've found the following technique helps to beef it out.... Make a group or FX channel, put the multiband compressor that comes with SX3 on this channel, send a signal from the main mix, mess about with it (I always use 4 or 5 bands) until it sounds good. The send from the mix channel can act as an easy way to adjust the input level/threshold on the multiband. The dry mix at the same time adds punch, the multiband adds beef!

I bought a soundcard from this God of Good Sellers. The satisfaction I received was far too great to be described as "customer satisfaction". Just in case someone can't tell, this is excellent feedback for a great seller.
22. Ahhhh, that makes sense. A docking station for your temporary pedals, ingenius!
23. You could have a delay there instead of the TB loop? I only asked about it as I was wondering what it was doing with two empty jacks.
