1. I deal with Bax/Schenker all the time so if you have any problems.....
2.
I have rule: 'If they can't spell...i don't sell...or swap for that matter' people who can spell very rarely rip you off
If I said that i'd be getting flamed by the dyslexic membership!
3.
+1 - I hoped this would be easy to incorporate but I think there was some difficulty. I will chase it up though as it seems the best idea. ped
Cool......Or if you could automatically generate a feedback thread for each member and automatically generate a link to it in the respective sigs? I don't know, but I think there should be some sort of compulsary space for people to add feedback about every member. If the member doesn't like the feedback he can take it up with the mods. It kind of relies on everyone to leave feedback as well. I've bought quite a few items from people on here, and always say "link me to your feedback thread if you have one" and I think all but one have just ignored this question or just said "nah I don't have one, don't worry". Similarly, no-one has left any feedback for me as a buyer.
4. You could probably synch two loopers together for you and your guitarist, although you'd have to fight over who got to tap the master tempo. My guitarist does some lines with his delay pedal set in time i.e the pedal contributes to the rythm of the line, and I have no problem drumming to it as long as I can hear him.
5. One solution would be to add a feedback section to personal profiles. When people receive their item or whatever, they can go onto the seller's profile and just post about the transaction. Then if you are thinking of buying from someone it's as easy as clicking on thier name to find out their feedback.
6. Surely if the loops are significant in volume (in relation to dry bass), and the drummer has a sh*t load of bass in his monitor, it shouldn't be a problem if you start the loops with a tapped tempo?
7. I don't use a looper and this is no use for live work, but an interesting thought on playing to a click... To track drums for my new band, we demo the songs with a drum machine so obviously a constant tempo, and then I play the drums to a guide mix including a drum mix with some fills and everything. It's a lot easier than playing to just a click and perhaps your drummer could benefit from this technique in the studio?
8. I don't know the brand, I bought them used from 6stringbassist. I love the extra tension. Acoustically they are less bright, but when playing through my pedalboard and bi-amp rig it sounded just as good as my bass with rounds.
9. I put flats on one of my 6 strings and it seemed to increase the tension in the strings quite a bit (which I love). Is that normal?
10.
Any advice on acoustics would be most welcome. Although we will mostly be recording digitally including drums (Roland TD20) we may well do some acoustic/analogue (sp?) stuff. The drum/vocal room will measure approximately 2m x 3m, corridor 1m x 2m and the live/mixing room 4m x 4m. There will be an internal double sealed unit window between the vocal booth and the mixing room for visual cues etc. Forgot to add... floating wooden floors throughout, recessed lighting and a stella fridge!!
Cool, the dimensions sound allright, but it would be a bit tight recording a full band in there. I suppose people don't really do that much now. I don't really know that much about acoustics. I think there's a great SOS article about building home studios, you could find it on their website. I think if you make the partition double-walled with some foam or whatever inside, and angle the windows so that the viewing window doesn't form a parallel box, you should be OK. Oh, and double doors for the partition.
11.
I think was zoning on too much on the bass rather than the bass In relation to the track.
This happens to me sometimes, especially when playing the drums. If you're just listening to yourself it's very easy to lose timing.
12.
You'll have to buy me a drink first!
For some reason your avatar is stretched vertically. Is it on anyone else's screen? Perhaps you should upload a c*ck shot while you have the opportunity for artificial length enhancement.
13. I wish I had a building like that! Cool. Have you researched acoustics at all? How are you going to be treating the room(s)? If you section off a control room, will you have enough room in your live room? And will the control room be cramped? I know it's not very proffessional, but sometimes bigger live rooms sound better, and you could get a silent case for your PC, set up your mixing console in the live room, turn the speakers down when you record. It's what I do (not to save space) and it works great!
14. At my practice studio absolutely everything that plugs in is noisy as f*ck. EG I had a pedal board set up with 25 odd pedals on it, and everyone said "that must be SOOOO noisy" etc, and naturally I just accepted that my board was awfully noisy. However, I noticed that at gigs, it was never noisy at all! Same goes for my amps, the PA, even my computer speakers. I figure it's just the wiring in my practice studio.
15. I wouldn't really know, but it does say it gets rid of AC hum, and if it's your mains supply that's humming it should work? For the money you could try it and report back!
16.
Just to add that my Hiscox shaped case fits sideways in my Passat Estate's boot, but on top of the suspension tower protruberances. It's still under the cover though.
What year is your passat OG?
17.
Why, has he no nose?
I think he smells well but receives so much praise and treats he'll never be properly grounded.
18. Cool! This may be a stupid question but.... Is it hard to get the intonation right on a bass? IE did you have to work out where the bridge goes, and where to cut into the nut etc etc all with complicated forumals? Or do you just stick them on in a straight line and try to set it up after? Perhaps there's a beginner's guide I would be better looking at.
19.
I need to continue playing the acoustic part when the bass part kicks in - so that would mean the above wouldn't work right? Unless I've misunderstood!
You are right, yeh, but you could do both if you had something like a LS-2 or whatever to run both lines of effects at the same time. It just seems an easier solution to me, but I do like my pedals.
20.
Chedda will be if he doesn't stop doing that.
gigitty gigitty ......... goo!!!
21. Seriously, the AC-3 is a great acoustic simulator. If you played an electric through that through your bass rig, and then when it kicks in just switch from the AC-3 to the OC-2 it's be very easy and probably cheaper (buy used pedals) than any other solution. For a guitar synth pedal, I beleive you need to buy the pick-up to work with it.
22.
... i did used to ... sing in a death metal band.
23. I would be trying to play bass with your acoustic rather than your feet, or, even easier - get an electric guitar, a BOSS AC-3 and a BOSS OC-2/3 and you're sorted. Anyway, you can get "bass pedals" - chris from Muse uses one on the Hulabulloo tour so if you check on board.muse.mu and search for it, or on the Muse Wiki thingy it will probably tell you the name of that.
