1. what does parallel compression mean? As in stereo compression? Multi-band?
2. I e-mailed them ages ago asking if they were going to release a b9.1u and they said no! Wrotters.
3. Fiendish. All hecklers are welcome!
4. I'm not sure, around 8 or 9 I guess. Last time we were supposed to be on at 8.30 but we went on at 9.30. It'd be cool to see you there!
5. I've got to agree with Homer here - You need a dead rabbit.
6. This Friday we're making the long trip from Stoke to London again to play the Fiddler's Elbow. If anyone lives in/around camden/kentish town and would like to come down, it would be most appreciated! I'll buy you a pint Last time we played there it was a great gig. If you want to hear the music, check out www.no-logo.co.uk which is just a framed myspace page where you can listen on the myspace player, and download mp3s from the frame on the left. We're also playing at the Sugarmill in Hanley/stoke-on-trent on Saturday if anyone would like tickets PM me. Cheers!
7.
This was mine, but I simply wasn't using it enough to justify the expense.... Sounded lovely though...
You got rid of that?!? I don't think i'd be able to bring myself to do that.
8. I reckon you want an oscillating fuzz of some sort, plus a limiter, and octave + and - options. I don't listen to loads of dnb though so.....
9. One big kylie shaped dirt pedal - in through the mouth, out through the ass and 9vdc input..... I'd love to kick her in the face every time i'm turning on my filthy distortion.
10.
I am amused.
If that's in reply to my post, maybe I should clarify myself?! I grew up listening to Motown, stevie wonder, bob marley, the beatles etc etc. All the bass is kicking out lots of low end, lots of "classic grooves" etc, very good bass lines and bass playing. Then I listened to primus, and I remembered that i'm a musician in a band, and I can do whatever the hell I like as long as it sounds good.
11.
While that is often the best approach, sometimes more actually is more, especially in smaller bands. Alex
Yeh, don't get too bogged down in the "classic sound" or "classic playing" or whatever all the experts think you should do with your bass. We're not all playing motown covers!
12. Ahhhh, never mind. No-one will play me at chess and I thought it might be a good way to get some mates into it!
13. how much to ship the drinking chess set do you think?

Roland V-Bass

I've not used one, but would love to try it! I played a guitar one once, but only for 10 minutes, it was very fun! The pickup on that was very thin, I would have thought it would fit next to the bridge on your bass, but I don't know for sure.
15. Are you familiar with the controls on a compressor? Have you tried it with some sort of level meter? Maybe it's just so transparent you can't tell that it's compressing your bass! Maybe it's just behringer being crap. I've tried that pedal though in the shop. I wasn't sure if it was compressing my bass enough, so I hooked it up to a keyboard in the shop, set it as a "brick wall" limiter at the lowest threshold, and turned the keyboard volume up and down while I played it. The volume of the keyboard didn't change with the control, so the limiter must have been working. It didn't sound much different though.
16. Isn't it crap when your pedals start spilling off your board! It kind of defeats the purpose of having a board 'cos it still takes ages to set up!
17. Sorry, I didn't mean that you deliberately did it, I should have worded my post better. What I meant is that this is how he will probably see it, and these will probably be the consequences, and there was probably no need to make the post seeing as this thread had just got back on topic. I only said it because it's a topic I care about and think should be discussed properly. Sorry if I caused any offence!
18.
Blimey, just for a second I was back in my 3rd year History class. I swear I could almost hear old Evans droning on about Magellan and Copernicus and threatening us with detention.
You know keeping your amusing comments to yourself might be more mature than trying to bait the guy into insulting you so you can ban him.

BOSS LMB-3

I really like mine, it's extremely useful, certainly (IMHO) better and more useful than any compressors you get that just have a level, attack, and compress/sustain controls. You really need (IMHO) control over the ratio and threshold of your compression. Attack is useful, but not so much for limiting. Anyway - If you're not going to be doing much gigging, or playing football with your new pedal, i'd save yourself a sh*tload of money and buy the Behginger copy of the LMB-3.
20. Perry - Are you saying that we're all nice on here but when you meet us in the shop we're total c**ts? I can't speak for anyone else, but that's me down to a T!
21. As soon as I have a few free hours i'll try and organise some of the useful stuff i've read on here and put it in the wiki.
22. Maybe we could talk more about the wiki though, I think it's a great thing and should be developed more. It needs the members to contribute though, we can't just ask the mods to do it all for us.
23.
All well and good but I can't actually do anything with the Wiki and don't really like it much - most people are blissfully unaware of it!!
Maybe this is something we/you/the mods? should work on. The wiki has a lot of potential to be a knowledge-base, created from posts that can be edited and tidied up. A large percentage of the posts on this board must be at least very informative, and I think it would be great to catalogue this welath of knowledge. I wouldn't want the organisation of the library to impact the way that people actually post, so I think it would be good to develop the wiki. For example, there are loads of stikies, and they all contain informative and useful bits of information. In some of the stikies, there is discussion, and this annoys me because I treat them as pure factual threads where I should be able to find out everything in there on the first page. Obviously this is not what they are, but it's what the wiki could be. Can everyone contribute to the wiki? If when I read a useful/informative post, (or got a good link, or good youtube video) I could just click on a wiki button, and then the post was pasted into a form where I could edit it for spelling mistakes, formatting etc, and then decide what category it should go in for the wiki, I think i'd do it all the time, and so would lots of others. Obviously this might be a bitch to code, I wouldn't know.
24. yeh, I think the wiki should be used more. Videos all over the place in whatever forum section could be copied into the wiki in an organised fashion - creating the ordered library of videos, without loads of discussion inbetween them, whilst retaining the random nature of the posts in the general and off topic sections.
25.
It really does amaze me just how good these B2 fx units are for the money! Nik
+1!!!! I wish I still had time to mess around with mine
