1. Not your floor? Pfffffff. I love the black/red colours on your bass. I'd like a 6 string like that.
2. Yeh, I meant to say Kev - That's one nice looking bass! (I also like your floor, but no-one's going to get that here )

I don't know what thread it was in. I think the title was irrelevant. I think the reason you're not getting the best out of it is 'cos it's a bit of a bitch to program. As in it's kind of common sense how to get around patch switching, but it'll take ages to get all your patches in. At the moment, I have one main patch at (I can't remember the naming convention?) position 2, and the two most common effects I use at position 1 and 3. So this main patch, could be bypass for example. Then, I copy my main patch from 2, to 4,6,8,10 etc, and put all of the other effects I need in between. If I'm playing in bypass at position 2, and I want to switch to the effects on patch 3 for a bit, I can do that. Then, (this is where you have to think) if the next bit in the song will required a different patch, I will have to decided to go up or down to my main patch. I can switch to bypass at position 4 queueing up the choice of patch 3 or 5, or I could switch to bypass in position 2 with the choice of 1 or 3. Get it? So if you have a song with 10 different sounds in, but need to bypass in between every single one (is this going to happen?) you can do it, as long as you got the patches in the right order. If you want to switch straight from one patch to the next with no bypass, just tap the switch twice quickly, which is almost as seamless. The other option is to plug an extra footswitch in, and set it to scroll through banks of 10 (I think this is the available function?). Are there some "finger buttons" for switching up and down by 10 patches? There were on my old Zoom GFX707, and I wired them to a couple of footswitches so that I could go up or down 10 with my foot - giving me even more flexibility.

I would highly recommend the Zoom. I don't think patch switching is a problem, there are loads of ways around this which have been detailed in threads before. The limiter is deffinitely much better than the comp which is a bit crap, but, at least there's a limiter! The DI is good (although in my rig I can't use that as it's only a portion of my sound) and the usb connectivity for 0 latency recording is a great feature too!
5. That's cool, thanks for the tip!
6.
Always do a last sweep of the venue for your gear before you leave
Great advice. Don't leave it up to another band member to tell you "yeh, i've got all your gear" either. Everyone should know that everything they took into the venue has been taken out again. It sounds like common sense but.........
7. That's be good for £50 as it looks angled. You could fill the lid of your flightcase with foam? Mine is like that.
8. I don't think i'd like a board without a decent cover/case. Do you have a gig bag for it or something? umcoo - I think building a feedback loop has to be one of the easiest projects you can do. Why not give it a try?
9.
Every body with a feedback loop needs a EHX Bassballs trust me on that
Heh, i've been using mine like this! I've taken the BB off my board 'cos I never use it in any songs, but through the feedback loop it's great! The best settings on my feedback loop are whammy into OC-2 into Zoom B2 (for a little OD and a step phaser with rate control on the exp pedal) into bass balls into wah probe into ibanez SS10. I get weird pitch shifting with the wah probe, and cool rythms from the phaser and bass balls working together.
10. You could just try a blender with the OD-20, or if not and you want to sell it, can I have first dibs?
11. yeh, go for it! The reason I think I don't like the enhance features is because I want my limiting at the end of my chain, but I use a lot of distortion which sounds horribly fizzy with the enhance on.
12. I really don't like the enhancer on my LMB-3, but it is kinda good for tuning my passive into an active sounding bass. I just have the ratio set to limit the whole time, the enhance off, the level up full, and then play with the threshold. All the controls are useful if you ever use it for something else, so, I wouldn't not buy a pedal just because it has more knobs than you need! EDIT: I've tried the berhinger and it's just as good. The enhance feature was better, but I don't use that.
13. Me too. I really need to try one out. There's none in Stoke!
14.
it can handle chords
I've heard lots of people say this. Have you really tried it? I've not, but I wonder how/if it really works?
15. I'm using a WH4 for my octave up and downs now. I was using an XP-100 (an older whammy) which to be honest, give a miles better tone, but, i've swapped with my guitarist for practicality reasons. If you could find one of them, it also has a great chorus, and some cool wahs, and you can footswitch between patches, while bypassed! (can't do this with WH4) EDIT: You can get them for £80-£100 which is better than a new WH4 I think.
16. I'm deffinitely a band member first and a bassist 2nd. I'm probably better on guitar, and I never play my bass at home. Another example of my attitude is that I gig with 20+ pedals, but play acoustic guitar at home. The only reason I ever played the bass was because I thought I could contribute to the band with this instrument, so, the total opposite to you jamesemt!
17.
What ever Kev decides is fair this week
Zing!
18.
so do i. but i sound even better through better equipment
Well, it's an interesting point. I have a bit of a "different" sound, so I find it very difficult to get the right tone with anyone else's gear. I've played some nice Ampeg, Trace, and Ashdown rigs, and none of them could really give me what I need. I guess, if I had the money, and time to try gear, i'd probably agree with you though.
19. Does this have direct outs for each channel?
20.
i think better gear is essential because like someone said earlier, if you sound good, ......
What is "better gear"? More expensive gear? I sound good through what some people would describe as "crap gear"!
21.
Damn...how old are you....12?.....
Damn, how old are you? 90? LOL! EDIT: Fiendish beard Big Beef!
22.
He plays on the same squash ladder as me,
You should get him to autograph your balls!
23.
OK?
Ok, but without defining it, the point is deffinitely lost on me. Obviously i'm one of the less knowledgeable bassists here, but, i've seen people go on about so many different kind of jazz, and I don't really get it! Or do you just love all of these sub-genres? In which case I should obviously shut up. ThunderThumbs - I think you make a good point about the general perception of jazz, there is a bit of a stereotype. I just wanted to make sure you weren't saying that the fast show sketch caused the stereotype, rather than the other way around. I'm sure there are people that have been influenced by the sketch, but their opinion isn't very valid is it! I have had these kinds of emotional listening/watching experiences with all kind of music, but only once jazz. I suppose it's inprovisational nature does lend itself to a more emotionally musical experience in certain ways, in that the musicians are really "expressing themselves" as opposed to trying to play the right thing.
24. You can call anything jazz if you want to - radiohead are jazz-rock? It's a bit stupid though. I hate these endless classifications, genres and sub-genres. Just because something has some improvisation or some clever ideas in it, doesn't mean it's jazz, and who cares anyway? This thread should be called "god I love music".
25.
I think far too many people just watch too Fast Show and dismiss it because of that.
heh, you seriously think that?
