1. basses aren't really that fragile though. Maybe if you're in a horrific car crash your bass with be knackered, but, you've just come out of a near death experience, probably not that bothered about your bass. Even if it was in a hard case it might not have been saved. I've never been able to afford a hardcase for my bass, as i've always had more pressing things to buy. I've never had any problems with my basses, they get thrown around quite a bit in my car, get squashed between amps and stuff. I know this is going to sound horrific to some of you, but there's no damage. Don't be so protective or your bass will never have any balls!
2.
I don't think he stayed long enough to find out!
I thought you were joking when you said he dropped it! That's a pretty nasty thing to do, even if the staff were snooty.
3.
So he just dropped it and walked out.
Was it dented?
4. I can't talk and play at all, but I know people who can. I can talk and play drums though! Weird.
5. I have to learn some new bvs and it's so hard to do whilst playing in a weird timing!
6. If you want a double tracked sound, try a chorus or a short delay time.
7.
....slightly soiled
I was going to make a similarly disgusting retort, but then I remembered I was on basschat and I should mind my manners! You should start some self-moderation :-p
8. Where can I get a Mark King sleeping bag?!??
9. I haven't watched the solo, but i've seen plenty of live footage. You think he'd get a bad back from walking around like that! I don't think he looks unprofessional, I think that would be very hard to do in Metallica!
10.
You're not the only one, my friends and I do the same.
Are we racist?
11. Maybe we should have an 'erb forum instead?
12. What's the point? You think they'd just do a backing track.
13. I've tried that kind of bi-amping before, and, it was good, but not as good as running my FX straight into the bi-amp rig. Weird?
14. Thanks! That does make sense. It's very hard for me to think of a way around that though, as obviously I know the riff very well, and it inhibits my sonic imagination!
15. We've finished the CD now, it's 3 tracks. We're not making them all available at the moment, as we're considering our options, but, on www.myspace.com/nologorock, you can listen to one of the new songs called "fake smiles in the photograph". Please let me know what you think of the recording/mix/master.
16. Everyone I know refers to this man as "the monkey", because of his facial expressions. I don't know many people though :-(
17. I haven't read every single post, so, sorry if I say something stupid! I've read quite a few comments saying "you can't use an ERB in a band context" "people only use them for tapping/showing off" "you don't see an ERB at your local open mic night" etc. Well, I play a 6 string, (I don't know if that's counted as an ERB or not) and I take it to open mic nights with my guitarist. I like to play a lot of chords, which often involve the high C, and I like to play a lot of low groovey bass lines, which often involve the low B. The band i'm in is a 3 peice, and I use lots of effects, a bi-amp rig, and my extended range, to help fill out the sound. I didn't get a 6 string so that i'd have to use my left hand less either. Quite often i'm on the High C at the 24th fret. I still think i'm a bassist though. If anyone's interested, there's a new song (fake smiles in the photograph)on my band's myspace (myspace.com/nologorock) where i'm playing 5 string bar chords in the chorus (not impressive, but effective use of ERB).

Distortions
Wolstenholme used to use a Boss ODB-3 quite extensively actually. Check "Hyper Music" for a demonstration of this. I quite like the pedal, but theres so many haters!!
Where did you get that info? I'm not into them much these days, but i'm always on the muse gear msg board and no-one has ever said that.
19. I just need a small board 'cos my main board has reached it's limit. I couldn't have anything bigger, so two boards it has to be! It'd be harsh if I made an offer while you wait for a reply from Kev wouldn't it?
20. Where do you get those mojogear boards? I can't find them to buy.
21. I'd love to be able to change tunings by pressing a button. Tuning up is not so much of an issue, but I am lazy so.... I think this has been around for a while. Can you have it fitted to a 6 string? I wonder how much that would cost?!?
22. Have you heard his live sound? I would have thought it was something that everyone would hate, regardless of their preference. It sounds like one of those 14 year old kids doing his first gig with a little practice amp turned up to the max, hitting his bass as hard as he can with a pick, but missing the strings half the time.
23. I don't think you can generalise about all Ibanez pedals like that. Any distortion pedal has the potential to feedback. 99.9% of distortion pedals have the potential to sound good!
24. You could take the head out of the cube, and put it ontop of a nice loud combo.
25. I don't blame his amps. I blame him! I've seen bands playing with ashdown bass rigs that sound great! I've never seen system live with a good bass tone though.
