1. Have you tried the DJ22? A DJ13 into a DJ22 through my rig sounds awesome.
2. Cool, thanks, i'll try and give it a listen tonight, although i'd obviously prefer to hear you and your monstrous rig!
3. What's your band?
4. Custom hat?
5. Oh my god Joe, that is a rig to wreckon with! Where can I hear it? I thought about doing this kind of thing before, but, I decided to try to fill the frequency range of the guitar using my effects and other playing techniques, rather than actually pitch shifting my bass.
6. I always play with my 6 string like: A#, C#, G#, C#, F#, B I just buy the heaviest guage strings I can find. Generally the shops around here are pretty crap and have to make up a set of strings that aren't standard guages. I'm guessing this could be bad for the bass? So I suppose I need the same kind of advice as you, even though standard heavy Elite 5 string sets seems to work fine.
7.
Don't over-use effects or flashy techniques. Sure, autowah rocks bells, but use it all the time and it loses impact factor.
Yeh, I think with respect to creating music in general, you have to create a structure using "contrast", which doesn't necessarily mean dynamics.
8. It would be so funny to actually see someone keep playing their out of tune guitar (no bassist is this stupid) staring at their tuner, going mental at it for not tuning their guitar.
9. That's a lot of money for a muff. You should try making one!
10. Heh, well, i'm going to try and get rid of 2 pedals and fit some more on there. I can drill holes for cabling, and hopefully fit some stuff underneath the board etc.
11. He wouldn't break the case or the switch. Maybe the pots would snap, but, I think if you buy it new it has a plastic "pot protector".
12.
.......I didn't really get on with the tuner pedal .
You have to turn your tuning pegs as well you know! :-p
13. The French toast won't break if you don't re-house it. It just "feels" flimsy. I've had mine on my board for at least 3 years, it must have done 100 gigs at least, with me stamping on it. I've never had any issues with it that weren't psychological.
14. I tried the limiter/enhancer, and I thought it was at least as good as the BOSS one.
15. I need to sort mine out. Everyone else's board is so tidy! I need to drill and solder and etc though, and i'm just too lazy. I wish there was an easy way of tidying up my board!

PC v Mac

Yeh, if you spend your money, you can make a PC that looks just as nice inside, and outside. I built a computer for my brother who spent a load on a nice case and etc, so you get a load of drive caddies that slot in and out really easily, and clever cable routing and etc. It's just a bit pointless isn't it! I don't mind having a messy pc, 'cos i'm always messing with it.
17. Keep us posted, I want to know how this sounds!
18. I get B&Q and C&A, but maybe my mind's not dirty enough for M&S?
19. I prefer your version too. I was wondering if it might possibly be true, in which case i'd be e-mailing everyone telling them how rude their favorite DIY shop is, so I googled it, and, no :-(
20. Block and Quayle apparently.
21. Ahhh, the other one I was on about was the DANELECTRO DJ22 BLACK LICORICE which is the next one down on the list at thomann. It's seriously noisey though, I doubt many people would like it.
22. It's spelt distortion There are loads and loads of appropriate distortion pedals. I think you'll get a lot of recommendations on here, but, that won't necessarily help. Are you after a specific sound? If you like the distortion you've already got, try mixing some of your clean signal with it, using a boss LS-2 or a DHA Bob the blender or similar. This should retain some low end and clarity.
23. Seriously try those two danelectro mini pedals if you get the chance. I know it sounds like a budget-only option, but, IMHO they are very cool pedals, especially on bass.
24. I bought a DHA BOB the Blender from Jim, and he was a dream to deal with ;-) Packing was thorough, postage was quick (even through the strike - weird!). Thanks!
25. Like Kev said, try an MT-2, although, that's not really fuzz. I really like the danelectro French Toast (not sure if I got the name right). It's an octave/fuzz but you can turn off the octave. It's in a plastic case, but you can change that for the price. Someone else on here said they loved this pedal too. Edit: There's another danelectro octave/fuzz that's black instead of light blue, and this one is mental! Also great for bass, but, beware, it's seriously dirty!
