1. what's the deal with the mini warwick that's always on there? Are they really just ornaments? Seems a bit pointless
2.
The only time a couple of girlies came up to me after a gig, I got the opportunity to make myself laugh. Girlie - "Do you play a lot of gigs round here?" (this was north London) Me - "Not really, but we're very popular in parts of Scotland" Girlie - "Wow, really!" Me - "Yes, personally, I'm huge in the Trossachs!" They wandered off looking confused, I laughed my head off inside. The Two Ronnies would have been proud.
3. protect your hearing!!! I assume you're not wearing ear plugs? You've probably already done permanent damage to your hearing.
4. When I get some time off I'll learn to read, I am determined!
5. bastards. I don't know how it works there but in the UK they're normally up and running again debt free the very same day
6. I'd love to be able to read music. I've had a few attempts at it but can't seem to grasp it. I just keep getting angry at the fact that there's 5 lines, 5 gaps, and a bunch of sharps and flats. Why not just have 6 lines and 6 gaps and forget the key signatures?! Wouldn't that be more logical? Anyway, I will have another go when I get some time off I've recently started a 6 piece funk band. Everyone else reads. We're doing some covers and some people bring their "dots". I'm just doing it all by ear as usual. We're all playing in the same key. There doesn't seem to be a problem communicating. I can't actually imagine where a problem would come up?
7.
Surely the Boss LS2 operates as an either/or switch, ie it won't blend the two sounds?
No, it can blend, it has many modes, it's dead useful
8. It'll be fine. The only potential problem will be whether your pre-amps are too hot for the LS-2, or whether the LS-2 is not hot enough to drive your poweramp. I doubt that'd be a problem though Does using the effects return on your amp cut out the pre-amp signal? Or maybe you have an effects blend control? I'm just wondering whether you could use the front end of the amp for the low side of the crossover... it'd save you buying another Leeds and an LS-2
9. I just thought the video didn't really show what the pedal can do, and it sounded as though it wasn't well recorded. This could be a good pedal yet. The video isn't enough to judge it by
10. I've done this loads. If you have tweeters turn them off, otherwise roll off some of the very high end, the rest should be fine
11. Barnsley on Friday, Nottingham on Saturday. Our guitarist uses a POD and plugs both his electric and acoustic through it, giving the soundman one DI. It seems they can't help themselves from adjusting the EQ, so when he switches we get feedback issues. It's not happened a lot this year, but both gigs this weekend it did. I guess the solution is to just give them two DIs. Anyway, that along with the flu sucks some of the fun out of it but we still went down well and sold merch etc
12. profit is the most important thing. If profit can't be made it's not worth doing. Just look at what's happening to the NHS
13.
...the idea we pay taxes to pay for the education of children has been established in the UK since the 19th century - it's a shame that our country has become so individualistic and selfish that you hear voices (even on here) suggesting we shouldn't do pay taxes for education. Bonkers.
Very well said
14. When I was a 6 I was sent down the mines. I got my education in the school of hard knocks. All these kids these days, getting education from teachers, healthcare from the NHS, all paid for by the tax payer... no wonder they're all so entitled!
15. like many such issues, it's definitely "a good thing", but whether or not it should be prioritised over local health care or whatever... We had a good music department at school, and I could have learned an instrument while I was there, but I'd already been going to a private guitar tutor since I was 8, so just stuck with him. God knows how much it cost my parents!
16. Just bought some strings from Ambient and it couldn't have gone better!
17. ace lyrics! I'm a bit off put by the effects on the voice 'cos I'm listening on headphones and some of the weird effects are panned very hard. Anyway, I really like it I'm hoping to enter something myself this month but we'll see if I get any time to myself in the studio
18. I don't see anyone denigrating the beatles on BC. Some will say "yeh, not my cup of tea" or words to that effect. I guess there have been a couple of more strongly worded posts intended to wind up a particularly stubborn member, but I can't think of anything recently. Got any specific examples?
19.
Unless the string was not strung properly, poor quality string or just plain abuse how can you break a bass guitar string? I've been actively playing for 50 years and never broken a string. Blue
I've broken quite a few well strung, high quality bass strings when playing hard with my fingers. Sometimes you just get really into the music, start to "feel it" and play harder. If you've never "felt it" you wouldn't know
20. I have a couple of basses that are 3 a-side 6 strings and I'd love it if the headstocks were slightly fatter. It makes a big difference to the whole look
21. what about USB/chipset drivers?
22. Not that I'd ever have the money for this sort of bass, but yeh, this thread has put me off Zon, and I do like the look of them very much so that's a shame
23. he did the work without consulting you first. You have no obligations
24. yes, sounds like a crap patch lead
