1. please be careful. I would get a professional electrician to come and check your house out
2. you don't necessarily need a harmony to thicken the sound. Some EQ, compression, chorus, short delay, would all help
3. I'm sure it's not the intended purpose, but I love the sound of the Stone Deaf PDF-1 on dirty mode. It's a parametric EQ, and I think it's supposed to be for guitarists to do the "stuck wah" thing, but I love it on bass.
4. yeh he's mentioned us a few times. I think there are some friendly connections going on somewhere Anyway, maybe see you at one of these "folk punk" gigs, we seem to be getting loads at the moment!
5. I once re-soldered a wire to the jack socket with a lighter, just a minute before we went on! There's always a way
6. I've replaced broken strings a few times mid-set. I guess if it was a really important gig I'd take a backup bass, but yeh, I'd have it on stage where I could get it quickly, rather than back stage or in the car!
7.
what band are you in if you don't mind me asking, we (folkthesystem) played on the sunday eve at farmer phils oo, wicked festival but i'd drawn the short straw and had to drive home after the leylines set.
Headsticks, we were first on so not the fullest crowd!!
8. I have one that looks the same as the one here http://www.rondomusic.com/v26tribalblue.html It's at least 15 years old though, maybe older, a different colour, and passive. I really like it and still play it occasionally, although I do own a couple of more expensive and nicer 6 strings.
9.
Brilliant - John Coughlan on drums and Sean Lock on guitar. Nice to see an 'all star' band!
HAHA! Excellent. I had to look up John Coughlan. I don't think I'm quite that good looking, but thanks
10. Farmer Phil's festival yesterday. A bit of an odd one but good fun. Quite reassuring to know I can nail a gig while still recovering from the night before
11. Who is it who books the bands? I have nothing to do with that side of it Anyway, here's one of our songs from the set http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyU1q3jBsmU&feature=youtu.be
12. I bought a Brice 6 string bass from an ebay shop in the states about 15 years ago. It was my main bass for a couple of years until I could afford nicer basses. I have 2 more very nice 6 strings now, but I have to say, the Brice is still fantastic, even the low B. I think I paid about £150!!
13.
WMD protostar. Also has a CV out for envelope that I use to control my phaser (Chase Bliss Wombtone).
wow, that's very cool! I'll put it on the list
14.
But I assumed our man was asking which pedal it was, not what an LFO is?
Indeed!
15.
I have an envelope filter with an LFO (for autowah) and an expression input. Best of all worlds.
What's that?
16.
...So why jump to conclusions ?
To justify our jealousy of course!
17. Surely anyone who's been playing for that long would be able to do something more impressive, and yet he doesn't. Isn't that remarkable restraint? Purely playing for the song and never once indulging yourself? Pretty impressive if you ask me ...although obviously he could be sh*te and playing at the top of his ability, we wouldn't know
18. I'm sure it is but to replicate what an envelope follower does with your foot on a wah would be extremely difficult
19. no, I agree that 600ma is total overkill for a tuner, it's just that "power supply (600ma or greater)" implied I'd need 600ma. I couldn't find the section with current consumption. I need to work on my skim reading skills!
20. I see, I was a bit confused, I thought it'd have one output but I just looked it up. Cool! I've never gone down the isolated route. I was once told that for minimum noise you need a shared ground, and I figured you get that with a daisy chain. I'll have to check out the gig rig stuff when I'm next suffering noise problems
21. I do it but at venues with decent in-house PA and monitors. Some places don't think their monitors will cope and for them I take a combo
22. as above, I use both, they're totally different really
23. just bought a PSU from Dan, couldn't have gone better, cheers!
24.
Indeed. I just checked and the manual clearly states "maximum 30mA" http://www.korg.com/...ual/0/259/1825/
weird! I don't know where it says that but this is from the same manual:
25. It always seems a bit random to me. I always daisy chained my DD-20 with a load of analogue dirt pedals and it was fine. I switched one of the dirt pedals for a Stone Deaf PDF-1 and suddenly I'm getting a weird beeping noise in time with the L.E.Ds on the DD-20!! Put the PDF-1 on another supply and it's fine. Weird!
