1. It could be too low at the nut so check that as well as the bridge
2.
Exploiting quantum uncertainty in the time domain raise the possibility of negative delay, where the delayed signal occurs fractionally before the played signal. At present the theoretical maximum for a negative delay stage is in the picoseconds, but by chaining many stages in a chip (much as bucket brigade chips chain multiple stages), it could be possible to generate negative delays long enough for us to hear. Imagine hearing your echo signal just before you play it! I think it will be a few years yet before the costs come down though - I would expect the first units to be expensive high-end studio rack units.
I know nothing about quantum computing. Is there a simple way you can explain negative delays? Obviously a computer won't be able to tell which note I'm going to play before I play it, so how does it work?
3. On the video it sounds like the E string is "choking" and the only times I've had this problem have been because the action is too low, or the tuning too low for the string gauge.
4. nice one!
5. this is ace! Thanks very much! I'm normally tempted to critique the sound/production but this is pretty much perfect Great rhythm section too, playing about with timing in a groovy but interesting way. Right up my street!
6. I'd never heard of this mega cone, is it worth getting?
7. it does sound like the action is too low on the E string
8. they look yellow to me?
9.
I'm just lucky my band plays the music I love. I was never restricted by it. My point was I'd rather work than restrict my opportunities by only playing in bands that play what I personally like. Seems simple to me. Blue
I'm just reading between the lines a bit as I read a lot of your contributions, and the general impression I get is that you're not interested in anything outside of "your era", and that you only play the music you want to. So, yeh, your point was that to make a living from it, you have to compromise on the music you play, and I think that's a valid point. However, you do often go on about how you only play the music you like, almost as if you're saying that you wouldn't compromise. It just seems a bit confused to me. I guess the fact of the matter is that you would compromise on the music you play, rather than go back to working "for the man", but it just so happens that you're lucky enough not to have to compromise
10. So you only play the music you love, and you're making a living from it, but if you only played the music you love you'd be broke and bandless?!?!
11.
Really, my love grew for it when I realized I could make a living from it. And I am playing the music I love.

If I restricted myself to only the music like, I'd be broke and bandless.
Don't you think these two statements contradict?
12. It looks amasing, well done!!!
13. distortion was probably the first effect? Interesting though, I'd like to read a "history of effects" All the newer effects seem to be variations on existing ideas. Controlling a parameter with playing dynamics, or with a midi pattern or a fancy expression gizmo. Having said that some of the newer pedals from EH seem almost like new effects, and the Korg Miku pedal is definitely a bit new - I couldn't think of how to recreate that sound with "normal" pedals!
14.
Just out of interest, do many people use it as an always on pedal? I've never really been that interested in chorus, really, but I'm starting to see how good it can sound on gentle settings in combination with other things like distortion and octave etc.
I like it when chorus is just used as a "thickener" where you can't actually tell it's chorus but the whole thing is fatter. That's how I use mine and it's always on
15. I just realised I never share any Headsticks stuff here. I play drums in this band and recorded both albums. The 2nd one was released just over a month ago and it's going down really well! Any comments/criticism is welcome, especially in terms of production/mix You can hear a few songs and buy the album here http://headsticks.co.uk/listen.html
16. boss slicer, but that's total overkill. I can't think of any others off the top of my head
17.
I built a Ram's Head Muff and a Musket into one box with an order switch. I love it. They both sound very different to each other allowing for a huge variety of sounds. But using them together and being able to change the order adds even more variety and massive amounts of filth. And when you consider all the mods that you can add very easily... My electronics workbench is almost finished being rebuilt and when it is done I shall finish the mods I still have planned for my muffs (I have named the box Dank & Fetid) and finally get around to recording a demo of it.
This sounds great, I'd buy one!
18. I don't know about 2 guys in a hedgehog suit but you can clearly tell it's been sped up
19. Haha, unlucky Jack!
All the most petty, childish behaviour I've encountered in my adult life has been while I've been in bands, which is yet another reason why I stopped gigging years ago & I'll never be in another band.
Obviously I read a lot of this stuff on here, so I know it's true, but I've been in about 8 bands so far and only one had a fall out, and that was very civil. I'm currently in 4 bands and we all get on really well. The only childishness is some of the humour. Sorry you've been so unlucky!
20. some prickly posts in here!

Just bought a power conditioner from Charlie and it couldn't have gone better. Cheers!
22.
I agree that we're louder now. I think that the main reason for this is that drum kits have become better and louder along with the introduction of PA's at an affordable price for pub bands. I would love to play at lower volumes, my time for heavy metal has gone, but the drum kit alone, unamplified, makes me have to turn the volume of my 500W amp to almost half...
drum kits have got louder?! Any reason you think that?
23. I use a load of pedals into the behringer BDI21 straight to the desk. I just use monitors, CBA to carry an amp around!
24. definitely try a thumb pick, it works for me!
25. it depends how you look at it. Some of my very old recordings have a rubbish mix, which is quite frustrating and makes me want to go back over them. Most of the stuff I've done for the last 10 years sounds great! I play all of the songs differently now, and it'd be nice to record them the way I play now, but I'm not too bothered about that as I see it as capturing a moment in time I've not long finished an album with one of my bands. I think it's great but the rest of the band are already frustrated with it. "Not enough acoustic guitar, too much electric, too fast, too shouty" etc etc. As far as I'm concerned the album is a perfect capture of what we were doing at that time so I really have no problem with it. I would say "maybe the more you record the easier it gets to tolerate" but I guess Lennon had plenty of practise
