1. I think he's written some great songs, but I wouldn't listen to them. I don't really know why people think he's an arse, but it's probably justified. I caught most of this program while I was in the car and I thought he came across as really nice and quite clever
2. I don't know sorry, I think they're a bit "before my time". I watched one song then f***ed off. It's not my kind of music but each to their own
3.
Yes, definitely a live act. Like the albums, but they are in another league live IMO. Where did you play with them?
Middlewich FAB Festival. It's a fairly local festival but pulls quite a crowd. They had us on again this year with Lindisfarne as the headline. Not my cup of tea!
4.
Posted about Moulettes on here before, stunning live band.
I played with them last year and they were so good I bought the album. I found it disappointing, lacking the energy of the live band. I think it might have been a different bunch of musicians in the studio
5. I play acoustically at home. I wonder why more people don't play unplugged?
6. I really like it. How does the mains charging thing work? Never heard of that before
7.
...If you played that loud at a pub you'd be asked to leave!
Really? I don't see a lot of live music in pubs, but whenever I do, it's far too loud
8.
Clearsonic do some good kit. Available through Thomann. http://www.thomann.d...=&sw=clearsonic
These are interesting - is there something special about this plastic? Some sort of acoustic science going on?
9. I doubt you're going to be able to solve this one An obvious solution would be an electric kit and IEMs which he could turn up to deafening levels for himself while you have the volume control on the output of his kit.
10. It reminds me of the debate over milk prices. People say they care about farmers etc. but they still buy the cheapest pint, and the retailers keep offering it cheaper and cheaper. Who is really setting the price? And why? I can't see any real change happening without some form of price regulation, which isn't going to happen in my life time
11. When we release a CD, it's put up for sale on itunes, amazon etc. but it's also added to these streaming services at the same time. I'm pretty sure we've made more off streaming than we have off downloads ...but we make more money flogging physical products at gigs, which I guess is the same for most smaller bands without financial backing. I don't see a big problem
12.
The one that always confuses me is what lead to use between a jack monitor output on a mixer to a powered monitor jack input? I assume its a signal/instrument cable as you are only carrying a signal not power. But then why out of the same mixer you use speaker cables to go into active speakers when its the same principal??? Very confusing
no need to use speaker cables into active speakers, surely?
13. No such thing! What's the little behringer box for?
14. I've run my old peavey combo at 2 ohms with extension cabs, no problem
15. What DC Brick did you try? I know the standard boss PSU is a bit under powered. It looks like the M5 draws 500Ma which is probably more than either of your supplies can muster?
16. Ace! I'd not heard of her, so thanks
17. Yeh I've tried it with a feedback loop and with a bunch of my pedals (I must have 30 dirt pedals) but it's not doing the same thing. I guess you'd need an amp sim in a feedback loop to get closer, but is it really as simple as that? I'll try my BDI21 in a feedback loop when I get chance anyway, I've not done that before
18. Maybe it's simpler than I thought, but I would imagine that the feedback loop of standing next to your amp while it's turned up loud is doing more than any overdrive pedal could accomplish. This needs a scientific study
19.
You can add sustain with the release control on your compressor, or with some drive pedals (drive pedals having an innate compression to them anyway)....
It's more than just sustain though isn't it? Some harmonic overtones maybe?
20.
...All I want is something akin to the effect I get when I play onstage at gig level with my bass facing my amp - natural sustain through volume/acoustic feedback...
This is something I've been thinking a lot about lately. How could you possibly reproduce that effect? Would you need some sort of sustainer (like fernandes) built into the bass?
21. I have a dead simple website for one band and we shift a fair bit of merch on it. I just use paypal and their buttons. If you're just selling music then you could link to your stuff on itunes or set up a bandcamp www.headsticks.co.uk
22. Bump! I think one of the 1010s is gone now
23. yes, agreed, it's all about being sensitive to the sound of the song as a whole
