  3. Oh dear, I absolutely HATE the enhance knob on the LMB-3. I love it as a limiter though and always have it at the end of my pedals. The enhance just sounds so artificial! Maybe that's because of my basses?
  4. I'm not technically brilliant at all. I would not be able to play anything particularly fast for example. This doesn't bother me at all, I can play what I want to play. Very occasionally I'll come up with a riff or a bassline which I have in my head, but I can't play, and this is pretty much the only time I force myself to practise over and over until I can do it I suppose it makes sense for the "session" guys as they need to be able to do everything, and then obviously there are the uber-technical players who manage to make a living from impressing people. I like to watch them, but I would never want to be one!

  7. There's no octave pedal like that, as far as I know. It's an interesting idea! I think what you're experiencing is a lack of balance across the strings and up the frets, so certain notes are louder than others. Your strings, pickup height, amp settings etc will all play a part in this I have a friend who's EUB was quite quiet on the G string no matter what we did with it. We managed to get around it to an extent using a multi-band compressor, which applies different compression to different frequency bands. This might be the way to bodge a solution

  9. In that case, I don't think a compressor is going to be interesting enough to solve your pedal GAS. If there's money burning a hole in your pocket, grab one of the zoom multi effects units, have hours of fun figuring out what effects you like, then you can lust after all the individual "stomp boxes" which also do this effect.

  13. not sure a BDI21 or other sansamp clone will do it. I have one of these combos with the valve switch. I'll see if I can get a pedal to replicate it and report back

I do encourage bands to use my own kit as it's ready micd and tuned, but even when they bring in their own kit, it takes me about an hour to mic it, measure phase, get levels, and a test recording.

  19. I'd say it's definitely possible that you can hear the difference, and different tunings probably suit different pieces of music. But, yeh, it's like putting a capo on isn't it? Dropping the song up or down a semitone... how many hertz is that?

  22. I'd put them in a similar bracket to the foo fighters actually. Great musicians playing good solid rock songs. I saw the foo fighters once and after an hour and a half of good solid rock songs I was suicidal. Each to their own
  23. I always thought my band's timing was perfect, and I suppose in a way it was "perfect" but would speed up and slow down slightly for different sections of different songs. Not necessarily a bad thing! But playing to a click made us realise where we were changing tempo, and meant we at least had a choice as to whether to go with the natural feel of it, or whether to be super rigid
  24. If you're jamming or writing original stuff then meeting up once a week would make total sense If you're learning/rehearsing pub covers once a week, to only gig 5 times a year, then it sounds like a total nightmare and I would get out now!!!
